Martin to Juhoon text messages:
Before you could even look up after opening the door, you were hit by a strong but sweet citrus scent. Then you were hit again—this time by a half-smile and a small bow
“Hi, I’m Juhoon,” the guy at the door says in a low, soft voice. Not friendly, but not rude either.
“Hi, I’m Y/N. Martin’s sister,” you quickly stutter out. “Ha… but you already know that.” — What the fuck is your issue? And since when did Martin have friends with angelic faces?
As if pulling you out of your thoughts, Juhoon speaks again.
“Can I… come in?”
“Ah, yes. Sorry,” you mumble, stepping aside to let him in.
Just then, Martin comes down the stairs. “Hello, Jju!” he says with a grin. “C’mere, are you gonna stay standing there?”
Juhoon gives him a small nod and starts walking toward him, his expression still calm and unreadable.
“The banana bread is cooling down a little. I’ll call you guys when it’s ready,” you say, smiling.
“Aha, thank you,” Martin says, smiling back at you before turning toward the stairs then Juhoon gives a small nod and follows after him. Just before disappearing upstairs, you swear you saw the corners of his lips lift slightly.
… Was that a smile?
You to Martin:
Who cares if Martin doesn’t approve? It’s not like Juhoon is your boyfriend… so why does it feel like you’re thinking of him as one already?

The rest of the afternoon was enjoyable. Even though Martin and you were the ones doing most of the talking—while Juhoon was busy eating almost all of the banana bread—you had fun.
Juhoon always wore this expression that was impossible to read. Even if he was having the time of his life, it barely showed on his face. Instead, he showed it in other ways: with small nods, by staring into the soul of whoever was speaking, or by eagerly asking for multiple slices of banana bread.
Even the way he half-smiled, with only his eyes and the corners of his lips curving slightly, was cute. It wasn’t a full smile, but somehow, that made it even cuter.
Before Juhoon left, and while Martin was washing the dishes, the two of you ended up alone in the living room.
You sat on the floor, your head resting against the couch as you lazily swung your feet from side to side. Juhoon sat on the couch not too far from you, as still as ever.
The two of you watched some random video that had popped up on Martin’s YouTube feed, the room filled with nothing but the video’s audio and the occasional clink of dishes from the kitchen.
Juhoon clears his throat before quietly saying, “Thank you for the bread.”
You turn to look up at him and smile. “Thank you for enjoying it,” you say softly. You almost look at him in surprise—it was only four words, but somehow, hearing him speak first felt important.
Juhoon smiles back and speaks again, “Trust me, I did.”
You let out a small laugh, and his smile lingers a little longer this time before he looks away, casually brushing a piece of hair off his forehead. Hopefully he didn’t notice how red your face got—or how much self-control it took not to reach over and squeeze his cheeks right there and then.
After a little Juhoon stands up slowly from the couch, like he’s not in any rush to leave at all.
“I should go,” he says, still calm.
Martin looks up from where he’s leaning against the kitchen counter. “I’ll walk you out.”
You stay where you are on the floor for a second longer than necessary, fingers still resting on the carpet like you forgot how to move.
Juhoon glances at you briefly—quick—and gives a small nod. Not really a goodbye, but not nothing either.
You get up anyway.
The three of you walk to the door, Martin talking about something random as he leads the way, but you barely catch any of it. Juhoon walks quietly beside him, hands in his pockets, half nodding to Martin without looking at him.
When the door opens, the outside air slips in, colder than it should feel.
“Text me when you get home,” Martin says, casual.
Juhoon just nods. “Yeah.”
A pause.
He looks at you for a second longer this time. Just a second.
“Bye,” he says.
“Bye, get home safe” you answer, too fast.
And then he steps out. Martin closes the door, thanks you for the banana bread and jogs to his room, something that makes you laugh to yourself as you turn off the tv and the kitchen lights.
