Oh Barb. I love her character so much. At first, I thought we were actually going to see somethings from her point of view, but then I realized, we're still seeing her from Cooper's POV.
We're only seeing what she told Cooper happened to her. We're really still not seeing anything from her actual point of view.
Some people have expressed frustration at her motives. They seem to think that Barb saying that she's doing everything to keep Janey safe somehow means she's not a villain.
I don't feel that way at all. The best villains have the best most relatable motivations. A mother's willingness to burn the world down for her daughter is 100% a wonderful motive for a great villain, in my book. I hope they lean into villainous Barb.
I still wonder how much she's actually bought into Vault-Tec. She seems to feel that they're all powerful in the same way that all the Vault-Tec employees do. Do they all know something or they all just suffering from corporate brainwashing? (I know she alludes to the Enclave, but I still want to know how scared she actually is of Vault-Tec itself)
I really loved the scene where Cooper confronts her. It was so interesting how when she started with facts and logic, giving Cooper information, he immediately clocked it as a line. He knows Barb. He needed to hear what SHE thought and felt. Not the sales pitch she'd been trained to give. He's an actor. He understands what it is to become a character using someone else's lines.
The scene when he says he doesn't know who she is was just so well done. Brilliant acting from both Frances Turner and Walton Goggins.
@gabriellerudessa - I'd love to hear your thoughts!!!
