Onnnnne more chapter until I can prove/disprove the theory I've clung to since The Previous Reveal:
Really looking forward to the next chapter, when I can finally prove/refute that Athiel didn't actually know he was "lying" to MC until later. (Possibly even up to the day of the phone call at the end of Ch4.) 👀
Athiel very specifically never mentions E being "dead," and their earlier insensitivity about MC not "getting over" E could easily be explained by the fact, from their POV, maybe MC's just moping about being told to stay away while E recovers. Or about a "breakup" that never happened, but "everyone" knew about.
I mean, Juliet's told her husband that MC refused to see E when they were well enough, which was a total fabrication... why wouldn't she also lie to everyone* about what she told MC?
There's a good chance that the only people who "knew" (and actually thought) E was dead were MC, family and friends MC told, and MC's neighbors who were invited to the "funeral." And if that's true, it's possible the only people who knew about the lie at all were Juliet, Robin and Naya, and the doctor/the other driver.
Athiel doesn't necessarily belong to either of those groups, because MC wouldn't "have" to tell them what happened to E, and why would Juliet admit she'd been intentionally stirring up trouble to bring him in on it?
I am soooo looking forward to Athiel's moment of realization. And finding out how long he's known.
