any thoughts on bear!ollie with hybrid handler reader when he makes his debut in jeddah?

ooooh i hadn't thought of this but excellent ask anon! ft. bunny!charles bc ... well just because really

the whole weekend is a bit of a flurry for ollie

you're used to handling bunny!charles and even bunny!arthur when you need to

but a bear hybrid is ... it's a very different ballpark

any hybrid so young is unpredictable, but overgrown bear cub!ollie going over 300 kmh?

you have a hard enough time convincing bunny!charles not to chew wires when he gets stressed, you do not need another heart attack-inducing hybrid on your hands

but you can't leave him alone

so you do your job and you handle him

there's a lot of physically moving him from interview to interview, because he gets way too chatty way too easily

i mean he does fit in with the other drivers like that

but still

after the race, bunny!charles has his scheduled nap

but ollie really wants to play? he wants to be pushed on the tire swing!!!

it takes literally hours to tire him out enough to get him to take a nap

which he insists on taking on your lap, by the way

he's a bear cub! his natural state is cuddly!

it's not long after the race that ferrari tells you they've split your contract between them and prema bc ollie refuses to work with any handler but you

which is. it's cute.

but it means you're constantly either dragging bunny!charles and his entourage of assorted other hybrid f1 drivers to the f2 paddock

or dragging bear!ollie and his entourage of assorted other hybrid prema/junior formulae drivers to the f1 paddock

either way, those little chain connectors they have on preschool field trips? you're using one (or more) of those

maybe you started in 2024 so ollie and kimi were the first hybrids under your care

obviously they've both had a few handlers before as they made their way up the feeder series

but no one like you

for starters, you're actually taking care of their special enclosure at the prema headquarters??? you're trimming bushes and removing thorns and putting up scratching towers for kimi and tyre swings for ollie?

you're pretty new to being a professional hybrid handler, because you're probably only around their age too

anyway

you're so perfect and you take care of them so well that even when they're both signed to different f1 teams they're asking you to please still be their handler

prema is always looking for the best for their drivers and tell you that if you're interested in continuing to work with kimi and ollie that they'll release you from your contract (+ you'll always be welcome back to handle their other hybrid drivers)

so you get a new contract split between mercedes and haas

before you know it you're running across the paddock trying to stop cat!kimi from knocking everything off everyone's tables while trying to stop bear!ollie from either falling asleep on or trying to play with everyone

the only time you can take your eye off one of them is if you leave bear!ollie with bunny!arthur and the ferrari hybrid handler. they'll play and probably wreak havoc but they'll be safe and it means you can stop kimi from hissing at a reporter who flirted with your or ollie

they're chaotic and tiring and sometimes you wonder if you'd have more energy if you weren't their boyfriend/handler

but at the end of the day, you love them and they love you

and also the cuddle piles are annoyingly adorable

okay so bears are usually pregnant for 6-9 months

which means ollie is well and truly pregnant by the time the two of you go into hibernation in december

i imagine hybrid babies would be have the level of competence associated with their hybrid side rather than their human side

so bear hybrid!cubs are blind but deer hybrid!fawns can be up and crawling around pretty quickly

anyway

as is tradition, the two of you eat wayyyyyyy too much food before winter comes so you can get through with a few snacks here and there rather than having to make actual meals

you'll both be a little more awake when the cubs (two, probably) are born around christmas. you'll help ollie move them so they can get milk, whisper a "merry christmas" to each other, and then promptly fall back asleep

by the time the two of you wake up in february, your cubs will be a little more mobile and maybe even playing together and rolling around the den to make sure they're ready for spring

it's leftover genetic instincts from your bear sides

the bearman bear cubs make their paddock debut at pre-season testing, where they're already busy clumsily wrestling all over the paddock while you follow them (they've probably got those kiddie backpack leashes. ollie was a leash kid and you can't convince me otherwise) while yawning

absolutely you can! have some hibernation headcanons <3 (also we're ignoring that drivers have to train through the off-season. hybrid drivers can just show up and be good idc)

you and ollie hibernate together during the winter break

because you're hybrids, you don't go into full hibernation, but you get reaaaaally sleepy and get a very intense urge to den down the second it starts getting cold

because you live in an apartment, it usually involves getting a loft bed or bunk beds (maybe they make special hybrid furniture in this au, idk) and building a massive, comfy blanket fort like little kids

ollie is a little spoon. even if he's much bigger than you. he's always the little spoon.

hibernation is all for conserving energy so pretty much all you two do all day is cuddle in your lil den and maybe snack a bit

as winter fades out, you'll both slowly get more energy and there'll be some sleepy kisses

nothing much more than that happens

(there is potential for seahorse dad!bear!ollie who has cubs while hibernating ...)

when spring starts to roll around again, you're both stretching and yawning and you'll wander outside some days to nap in the sun

ollie just barely makes it out of hibernation mode to make it to pre-season testing

you're still napping in his driver's room tho

one of you is always wrestling with him somewhere

the other is usually finding ripe berries for him to snack on

when he tells you he's having cubs tho?

ohhhh he's getting pampered beyond belief

massages, extra berries, all the cuddles and naps in the world

when he starts getting ready for hibernation towards the end of autumn, you and kimi will make sure he gets plenty of food to stock up his energy stores to make through the winter

cubs will probably be born around christmas/new year

ollie will bearly (ha) wake up, just mumble sleepily to you and kimi while you take care of things.

for the next couple months you two will take care of the cubs while ollie sleeps

then spring comes and ollie is so ready to play and wrestle with his lil cubs, who look so much like you and kimi that his heart just melts

after a very big breakfast, of course
