Weekend Fortress (Hayden x MC)

This is for @meeraaverywalker‘s November prompt challenge day 27: Lazy Mornings

A/N: Sorry it’s so short! Life’s been pretty hectic recently. Anyways, enjoy!

Hayden rolled over in bed towards Kai, eyes still closed, fighting sleep, but found that she was already wide awake. He frowned and forced his eyes to open just enough to look at her. She was staring at him, blonde hair on the pillow around her like a Halo, smiling at him softly as she rubbed her thumb up and down his cheek. Hayden let out a content sigh and closed his eyes again, relishing the feeling until it stopped. He stole a peek and felt the bed shift beside him as Kai started to sit up.

“Where do you think you're going?” She turned to look back at him and shrugged.

“I've got stuff to do today, I should get up and get moving, get started on it.” Hayden groaned and snaked his arms around her waist, pulling her back down onto the bed. Kai giggled and fought Hayden's grip which he only tightened, he was determined to not move from that bed anytime soon.

“Hayden, let go!” Kai squealed as he pulled her all the way back, so she was lying down facing him again. He shook his head and smiled, kissing her nose gently.

“I can't. You're not going anywhere, Kai.”

“Oh really? Why not?” She raised an eyebrow at him, trying to cross her arms.

“Because I've got a lazy morning in bed planned for today, but it requires a partner.”

“I can always go get Dipper if you want.” She teased him as he playfully rolled his eyes at her.

“You know that’s not what I meant.”

“Oh, you meant that you needed a person to help you with this? I mean I can always call Damien and see what he’s up to, I’m sure he wouldn’t mind coming over to help you with whatever it is you’ve got planned.” She started to climb out of bed again and squealed as Hayden pulled her back into bed, rolling on top of her so she was completely trapped in his embrace.

“I want your help Kai, no one else.” He whispered in her ear, kissing behind her ear, down her neck, and resting on her collarbone, leaving a hickey there despite her weak protests.

“Okay okay!” She giggled as he finally released her neck, still hovering over her. “What were these plans you needed so much help with?”

“You don’t have any ideas?” Hayden whispered against her lips.

“Mmmm, I do, but I still want you to tell me.” She whispered back, tugging on his bottom lip, eliciting a soft moan from him.

“Okay, but I’m not sure you’re ready to hear them.” Kai groaned.

“Hayden, if you don’t tell me right now, I’ll get out of bed for real this time.” She gave him her best stern look, but it was kind of difficult with such a handsome man hovering over you, staring at you with big blue eyes.

“Fine fine, I want to build a fort.” Kai bit her bottom lip to suppress a laugh, that hadn’t been what she was expecting at all, especially not given how Hayden was pressing his hips into hers to keep her pinned down.

“You think it’s ridiculous.” Hayden could see her face growing red as she continued trying to fight her laughter.

“I think it’s cute that you want to build a fort in bed, and I think that’s a great way to start off our weekend.” she giggled, pressing a soft kiss against his lips, his eyes sparkling back at her.

“Good! I’m going to get everything we need, stay right here.” He pecked her lips a couple times before running off to the living room, coming back with his arms full of couch cushions. He motioned for her to grab some of the cushions from his hands and then ripped the sheet off the bed.

“Hey!” Kai instinctively curled her legs up at the loss of warmth and frowned at Hayden who stuck his tongue out at her.

“The faster we get this fort up, the sooner I’ll be there to cuddle you and keep you warm.” she reluctantly moved to set up the cushions she had taken from him on the opposite side of the bed.

“What next?” She asked, raising an eyebrow at him.

“Duck.” He threw the sheet over the couch cushions he had set up, creating a small fort over the mattress that Kai was now in the middle of. She squealed playfully pulling her feet away as Hayden’s hands snaked in and grabbed them before he climbed into the fort with her. They curled up together peacefully, a comfortable silence falling between them as Hayden ran his fingertips lazily up and down her hip and leg, peppering featherlight kisses on the back of her neck. They were completely hidden from the rest of the world, it was just the two of them, in their perfect little haven, their fort protecting them from the outside world for at least a little while.

“This was nice,” Kai whispered, breaking the silence, tilting her head back in an attempt to get a look at Hayden.

“I’m glad you’ve enjoyed it, is this you trying to tell me our lazy morning is over though?” She chuckled softly and shook her head.

“No, this is me suggesting how we can make it absolutely perfect.”

“Oh? What’d you have in mind?” He whispered, his voice sending chills down her spine, goosebumps rising on her skin.

“You can start by kissing me.” Hayden didn’t say anything else, his lips finding hers in a searing kiss that left her breathless and wanting more. It was a perfect way to end their lazy morning in bed, lying together in their little sanctuary, limbs tangled together.
