how it started
you two met somewhere in-between the events of the last book, and it definitely wasn't a love at first sight
see, it takes percy time to warm up to these things, especially when people make him feel unwanted emotions.
not to say he was totally surprised he liked guys, i mean, luke really unlocked a feeling in him, but it wasn't on his to-do list to meet a new guy, want to get to know him, and actually go through with it.
percy isn't shy by any means, so he went along with whatever he was feeling. after all, it's not like much could go wrong.
how he goes about it
he definitely goes about it too straight-forwardly. cheesy flirting, flowers he probably stole, corny dates and picnics, the whole shabang. not to say he was bad at it, but, c'mon.
he's not the type to really get super nervous about these things, not to say he doesn't care, but he's gone through too much shit to really be nervous about something like this
but when he takes you out on the first date? oh, he's sweating, wondering if he did enough, if he looks good enough, does the grey in his hair turn you off?
he handed you the bouquet he spent around an hour trying to assort before begging grover to do it, and he was nearly on the verge of tears seeing you smile, because he'd actually done it. he'd found something nice, and he, so far, hadn't fucked it up. hadn't lost it or scared it off,
all that to say that beneath his confidence, he really cherished this, the feeling you gave him, you.
dating
once you two begin to date, he definitely gets more open.
he always includes you when he hangs out with annabeth and grover, he's the first to tell you everything, even when he's not "supposed" to, because why would his boyfriend do anything to screw anything up?
this may just be a piggyback off of my personal preferences, but i feel like percy is a big words of affirmations guy, with actions to back it up.
for example, he loves when you tell him how much you care about him and then tend to his wounds or listen to him while he rants. to him, words and actions are a deadly combo, one he cherishes.
his giving love language is probably physical touch. I don't think he's the best with words, seeing as he can sorta miss the memo or be too blunt at times, so he likes to let his body do the talking, wrapping around you after a long day or kissing your cheek when you talk.
overall, green flag boyfriend, 9/10, would recommend.
