Iām not making those lodge vs cottage comparison posts to act like the lodge wasnāt really fucked up. of course it was lol. but Iām pointing out that robert was not enjoying that predicament in the lodge, he was having the worst timeā¢ļø vs john who is taking pleasure in making aaron weak and dependent on him, whoās enjoying cutting him off from everyone else. robert let aaron speak and spoke with him, it was a push and pull vs john who wants to control the conversation and have aaron quiet, dulled. the lodge being a representation of robertās ultimate struggle, and showing how as far as heās gone, he still canāt really kill aaron, or anyone (not on purpose). sure, he shoots paddy but then he helps stitch him up. not only because he doesnāt want another death on his hands but because he knows who paddy is to aaron. vs john who is actively hunting mack and endangering his life. and while robert has been lying, heās been slowly unravelling and being truthful, heās being truthful in the lodge vs john who lies and continues to lie and deceive aaron.
