Tony isn’t one to hash out the differences between a house and a home. Those kinds of cheesy sayings are better left to soccer moms and Hallmark cards. But standing in the middle of Peter’s kitchen with his sleeves all sudsy, surrounded by pictures, evidence, and history of a house well lived in, Tony can easily define that this is not a house, it's a home. Peter’s home.
There’s no way he can take Peter away from his home for Christmas. Not when he doesn't have his aunt anymore.
He makes a decision. A split decision, really. All the details explode in his head like a supernova, like they always do, but it’s a plan. And he’s gonna stick to it.

This is my favorite irondad fic ever. Ever. It’s what made me start this list in the first place. Honestly anything ciaconnaa writes bowls me over and I strongly recommend just sitting down and reading everything they ever wrote, but this one. It shows Tony reacting to Peter being orphaned in a unique way, accommodating to his life in a way that isn’t really shown in most other fics. Really awesome imagery, and characterization, and everything.

He could only think of one person who would call him while he was in school, and it was the same person with both the power and the intent to program Karen into never fully silencing his calls.

I love this one! Short and funny with on point banter. It’s also part of series that centers around Peter and his friends from decathlon finding him weird, which I also heartily recommend!

Technically this is more Pepper & Peter than it is Tony & Peter, although that does appear further in the series. You’ve probably read this already, considering it’s nothing short of the Holy Grail. Really, really awesome characterization and a fresh look into relationships. We see Peter grow up into a young adult and it’s very cool.

It happens once and then it keeps happening. It starts with a hoodie, and then slowly Tony is sacrificing more and more items of clothing in the name of a clumsy, irresponsible Spider-Baby with no sense of self preservation.

“And you’re fucking hurt,” Tony says, his blood pressure skyrocketing. He kneels down, his knees immediately cursing him, and hauls Peter to his feet. The two of them straighten up—Peter sways and his eyes go saucer-wide and he laughs a little bit, like standing is a very new, special activity.
Cute, great banter, soft dad Tony. iron_spider is actually a champion at the funny inebriated talk, and I have another rec from the same series because it’s just funny to read.

The Compound is big and white and echoing and lonely with just him and Pepper living here full time, Natasha visiting when she isn’t babysitting the illegal Captains America and checking in on Frozone, and Rhodey only here when he’s not prepping himself to be the next goddamn president of the United States. He likes it when the kid stays, he looks forward to it, and wants him to see it as a place to be comfortable, at the very least. He sleeps there two nights a week, anyway—more if he’s been stabbed or tased or something else stupid as shit and needs to be observed overnight in the medbay. It ought to be some semblance of a home.

“Yes, Parker. We have.” Tony stepped back from his screen and looked over to Peter. He looked so young behind his visor, and he’s a kid he’s a kid he’s a kid ran through his mind unbidden. “We’re a team, okay? I’ve got your back and you’ve got mine."
When aliens came to Earth, they came out of the ocean, not the skies. To combat them, humans created jaegers: monstrous robots so massive they needed two pilots to control them. Ten years into the war, Rhodey is knocked out of commission, and the Iron Avenger jaeger is in need of a new pilot. Tony isn't particularly happy about Peter Parker, a sixteen year old, joining the fight by his side, but sometimes you aren't given a choice in these things.
Pacific Rim AU! Hell yes. No need to have seen the movie to understand what’s going on. The characterization is so interesting in this one! Well contextualized! They are kicking ass and taking names, and it is Cool.

I love this one so much!!! Their relationship and the dialog is so cool!! Tony distracting Peter and cheering him up and comforting him!

Tony is nervous, because the kid is slurring and he’s severely loopy and that can only mean drugs. Were they to keep him docile? Were they to fucking experiment on him? Tony’s not in the suit anymore so he can’t see his heart rate but he knows it’s probably skyrocketing.
The dialog in this!!!! Exquisite. It’s one from the same series that I’ve recced somewhere up there, but it deserved its own mention because it’s just that good.

Tony feels like someone breaks an ice cold egg on the top of his head. Frozen yolk spearing down the back of his neck.
“—and she says she had your baby, Tony. Two days ago, she’s still in the hospital. She’s one hundred percent sure it’s yours.”
Tony stares at her.
Yeah, he’s had this happen before. It’s never panned out, always been a cash grab, and if he does have any biological kids out there, the mothers haven’t contacted him. All the ones that tried their hands were bullshitting.
But he remembers Mary Fitzpatrick.
And without picking up the call, without taking a test, without seeing the baby—he knows.
Probably my favorite bio dad au series ever. Very present May and Ben (Ben and Tony are friends! May kicks ass routinely!), Tony turned into absolute mush over baby Peter, the good stuff! Very slowburn Pepper/Tony. The series in ongoing and seeing notifs for it made me cheer aloud multiple times.

That didn't sound like something Tony couldn't pass off. “And?”
“She's pregnant.”

It turns out they have more in common than just type A positive blood. Tony finds himself desperately trying to remember where he was, what he was doing, (who he was doing) sixteen, seventeen years ago.
Suddenly, he knows why Peter has always looked so familiar to him.
I love this one so much because at some point it talks about their similarities? How they have the same laugh, etc, and I just love reading about that. Fic is the first of a very good series! Awesome Rhodey in this, too.

Very nice! A classic one, but there is a reason I read so much of them. Really cool! It spans on multiple years and we get to see Tony get his shit together and Pepper just adopt Peter from day one.

Rhodey doesn’t know what the hell to think, and Tony doesn’t give him any reason to stop as time moves on. The kid is always there, and he starts showing up at family dinners, Rhodey meets his aunt, and they actually pick him up from school a couple times when Happy gets sick. Rhodey pays close attention and no, Tony doesn’t treat any of the other interns like this, and Rhodey has to accept what his head has been trying to tell him all along. Actually, legitimately accept it. Visualize the word and link it to Tony and link it to Peter.
This is Tony’s kid.
Rhodey absolutely convinced that Peter’s Tony’s biological child, and when Tony doesn’t fess up he gets annoyed. Very cute & nice characterization.

Tony, rightfully, was fucking terrified.
Peter was 30 minutes past curfew, hadn’t texted, called, told him he would be late. He was just walking home from Ned’s.
What had happened? Was he hurt?! The thought of his little boy getting kidnapped, or lying, bleeding, in an alleyway, was too much to bear.
And to make matters even worse, the boy’s tracker had been dismantled. He didn’t know if Peter had done it himself, God he was smart enough, or if some had taken him and Peter... No. No, he couldn’t think about that.
Before he knew it, he was in his Iron Man suit, about to burst through the roof of the penthouse, before a small, shaking voice interrupted him.
“Dad?”
“Peter!!” He rushed over to the small boy. “Oh, baby!! Oh god, are you hurt?! Are you okay, sweetheart?!” Frantically he patted him down, searching for injuries. “Oh, Pete!! Where were you?! Are you hurt?!”
“I-I’m okay, Dad. I’m fine,” he mumbled.
“Are you sure? FRI, does Peter have any-”
“I’m fine!! I just- I got distracted, I’m sorry-”
Now that he was sure Peter was okay, his fear and terror was replaced by anger. “You got distracted?” he snapped. “How the fuck- there- how the hell would you get distracted?! Peter, you scared me to fucking death!”
“Dad, I-I,” he began.
No!! No, I don’t want excuses, Peter! There was no reason for you to take this long!!” he yelled.
“I’m sorry,” Peter whispered.
“You’re fucking sorry?! I was so worried, Peter! I thought you were kidnapped!!”
Peter didn’t know how to explain that he was kidnapped. And had escaped in under fifteen minutes from those assholes, but he was so far away from the tower in took him another fifteen to get back home.
“I- Dad- I-”
“No. No, I don’t want to hear it!” Tony took a few deep breaths, trying to calm down. But god... Peter had terrified him. Where the fuck had he been?!
Massaging his forehead with one hand, he looked up, worried, hearing whimpers. “Pete?”
To his horror, tears were flowing freely down his son’s face. “Oh, no, Peter-”
“No. No, it’s okay,” Peter mumbled. “Just leave me alone.” He sprinted for the stairs and raced up them.
Tony stared in shock, hurt and guilt filling his chest. He made Peter cry.
This was all his fault.
(maybe not all of it, but it sure felt like that)

He didn’t know what to do. He just hovered anxiously by the boy’s door, a lump forming in his throat.
Peter was sobbing.
He wanted- no, needed, to stop his tears.
Finally, he gathered up the courage to knock. Slowly, he opened the door and peeked in. “Pete?”
“Go away!” came the teary, muffled voice. The boy’s face was pressed into his pillow.
“Oh Peter...” he whispered. “I’m so sorry, sweetheart.”
That only made Peter sob harder. Tony’s heart clenched, and before he knew it, he was sitting on Peter’s mattress.
“Petey...”
“I’m sorry!! I’m sorry, Daddy!! I’m so sorry!!” he cried. “Daddy, I’m sorry!!”
Tony couldn’t breathe. “No, Pete, please, don’t be sorry, bambino. It’s okay!”
“No!! No, it’s not, I’m sorry!!”
Tony pulled the small boy into his lap, stroking his hair. He pressed a kiss to his forehead and rocked them back and forth gently, hugging him tightly.
Peter muffled his sobs into his chest, crying almost hysterically. Tony tried desperately to calm him, scared he would have an asthma attack, and hating the sound of his distress.
He rubbed circles on his back, kissing his temple over and over again, murmuring his love over and over . “It’s okay, Peter, I’m not mad at you. It’s okay, baby. I love you so, so much, okay? I’m so sorry I yelled, I just got really worried about you. I love you so much, Petey. I love you.”
Eventually Peter’s crying died down and he snuggled into his father’s warm, safe arms. “I’m sorry, Daddy.”
Tony shook his head and squeezed him close. “No, Peter, no. It’s not your fault, tesoro, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have yelled. I was just scared. Please, don’t be sorry.”
“’S’okay, Daddy. It’s not your fault.” Peter sniffed.
After a long pause, in which only Peter’s sniffles and Tony’s comforting humming could be heard, the boy spoke up. “Can we watch Star Wars?”
Tony laughed, relieved. There was the Peter he knew. “Of course we can, baby. Of course.” He kissed his small button nose. “Do you want some ice cream and cookies to go with that?”
Peter giggled, one of the sounds Tony loved most in the world. “Yeah. That’s sound good.”
Peter still sounded a bit sad, and the reason he was so late would have to be discussed, but for now, Tony was just so so grateful that he could hold his son close in this moment. Protect him. And never let go.

Inspired by various Bio!Dad AUs....
-Bruce Banner ended up in Paris while on the run. He was taken in by Sabine and Tom because he looked like her needed help. He stayed with them for a while and fell in love.
-But then Ross found him and he had to run again.
-However France was pissed and Ross was dishonourably discharged because he fucking attacked Paris. And Banner hasn’t been a threat for the year he was living there so no one believes Ross any more.
-Sabine gave birth and it’s obvious that it’s Bruce’s kid because sometimes her eyes flash green. She’s named Marinette Banner Dupain-Cheng.
-Sabine and Tom want Bruce back but given Bruce ran off to India he has no idea that he’s no longer being hunted.
-Marinette is super smart and she’s always doing experiments when bored. She also has a voice in her head she calls Little Hulk cause she got her daddy’s ability but she hasn’t gone Hulk yet.
-Sabine and Tom have always told her about her dad and have given her all this stuff to be able to connect with him.
-Marientte has never been ashamed of the fact she has two dads and a mom and is insulted when someone says something at all to her.
-Becoming Ladybug, she wanted to track down Bruce but knew she had to stay in Paris.
-And then Loki attacked New York and she begged for the Horse Miraculous to help and to meet her dad.
-Bruce is shocked but so happy. He’s also shocked Ross isn’t in charge of anything cause SHEILD is a bunch of liars who wanted him under their control. So he goes screw SHIELD and goes back to Paris. Tony gets him a job working in his Paris branch.
-Tom and Sabine are happy to have their partner back and shocked Marientte is Ladybug. But they’re just happy. It’s very nice.
-Lila tries to stir things up cause oh, Marinette’s parents have this random dude living with them.
-“Yeah he’s my dad.”
-“Isn’t Tom Dupain your dad?”
-“Yeah. They’re poly.”
-So Lila’s lies don’t really work and when she tries claiming to know the Avengers... next Parent Day Bruce shows up and he reveals he’s Marinette’s dad and Lila is exposed.
-Or Maybe Marinette gets so mad at Lila for something. Maybe she’s finally convinced Alya that Marinette is a bully and Alya publicly yells at Marinette and Marinette just... goes green.
-Bruce runs over to calm her down and he also verbally admonishes the class, teachers and school for their actions with Lila. Tony comes around and helps sue the school and Lila.
-Both work.
