I’ve seen a lot of people consistently complain about the fandom. At this point, I think it’s becoming toxic to themselves, because they’re becoming as confrontational as the people they vent about. I blame inadequate moderation for why juvenile behavior grows in some sites.
But people can just befriend individual fans and only talk with them. They can make small communities they can mod better than other sites, or just leave the sites altogether. Not saying all options are easy, but they at least lessen the problem of dealing with toxic people.
I complained about the fandom a lot, too. But it wasn’t making me happy. I just wanted the guilty pleasure of winning an argument, and I was giving those people too much of the attention they wanted. Sometimes we do need to vent, and I thank this blog for that. Other times, I think we let the people we vent about control our feelings too much.
This pic best captures my feelings on all this. I wrote this hoping it could change someone’s mind, the same way someone once changed mine. Thanks for reading.
Confessor Included a Note:
Note to Mods: first, you don’t have to include this note in the post lol Secondly, thank you again :) This job cannot be easy, and I can only guess how worse it would be without you all. This blog really helped me realized how argumentative I used to be, and how unproductive such behavior was.
