I just saw (several) someone(s) complaining about 'all the staring' in Thai BLs these days and I would just like to thank that person for reminding me of how much Thai BL has been improved by long, meaningful, slow gazes and staring into the soul of the person they love.

Okay so I just read the novel for Bite Me, though not all of it because apparently there are still many chapters that haven’t been translated and there is so much stuff happening there is no way they are going to be able to fit everything into the next three episodes

BUT I think I know the reason that the show is going to give for why Aek rejected Aue despite all of the staring, lingering, and obvious awkward flirting. Aek in the book is worried about the class difference between him and Aue and he feels like he needs to earn his spot by Aue’s side. He doesn’t feel worthy of being Aue’s boyfriend.

Is it a dumb reason? Yes, absolutely it is. But it’s the only reason I can think of that the show is going to use for Aek’s rejection of Aue.

And just a little side note, in the book Aue never touches Aek without his consent. He makes a point to say he will never do anything to Aek unless he is explicitly told he can. So I don’t know what the fuck the show thinks it was doing having Aue force a kiss on Aek and start acting like a predator.

Was it just an ad? Yes. Was it also one of the best moments in the whole episode? Yes.

Bite Me's first 7 episodes: Soft, mutual slowburn with lots of long staring and gentle looks and affection. Aue definitely soft, smitten, and gentle and Aek being a polite, sweet, sensitive young man with a supportive and fantastic friend group.

Bite Me episode 8: Woops, nope, turns out Aek had no idea and Aue's gonna force a kiss onto him and then Aek's gonna call a random competitor instead of any of his friends.

Bite Me episode 9: Aue's alternating between soft and predatory, Aek's made of ice or crying, all his friends are confused and the competitor is a manipulative bastard!

I feel like I missed something somewhere. I have no idea where this show is going now.
