Current Underrated Girl Groups [Part. 3]

1. April

Fave Songs: “Take My Hand”, “Mayday”, “Muah”, “Lovesick”, “Tinkerbell”

Reasoning: I think they are underrated because people see them as just another girly kpop group. And those tend to get swept under the radar these days unless they just happen to automatically grab attention with their debut. April’s debut wasn’t great, but with each comeback they have improved and grown a lot. They are very talented and adorable and you should give them a chance. 

2. Good Day

Fave Songs: “Rolly”

Reasoning; Granted they just recently debuted and Jiwon and Lucky are gaining attention on The Unit. But, as a whole they haven’t been noticed very much. I have high hopes for them and hope they become popular soon. They are very bubbly, cute, and bright. You should look into giving them a chance. I know they only have 4 songs out right now and so there isn’t much to go on. But I’m sure they have great things to come. So just keep an eye on them and give them a chance. 

3. CLC

Fave Songs: “I Like It”, “Like”, “Hobgoblin”, “No Oh Oh”, “High Heels”, “Eighteen”

Reasoning; CLC has been underrated since their debut. The debut didn’t gain much traction. Hobgoblin seems to be their most popular song so far, but even so I don’t think there has been a flux of CLC fans coming in. They are super talented and their songs are so catchy and nice. 

4. Dia

Fave Songs: “Goodnight”, “Can’t Stop”, “My Friend’s Boyfriend”, “Mr. Potter”, “Look”, “Darling My Sugar”, “Somehow”

Reasoning: Even with Cathy and Chaeyeon on Produce 101 and Chaeyeon even making it into I.O.I; the group hasn’t had a large popularity. They are still relatively unknown. Although Yebin and Somyi are doing well on The Unit and pulling in more fans. They are still nowhere near as popular as they deserve to be. They are cute and sweet and super talented. Their songs are catchy too. 

5. Oh My Girl

Fave Songs: “Secret Garden”, “Liar Liar”, “Coloring Book”, “A-ing”, “Cupid”, “One Step, Two Steps”, “Windy Day”, “Closer”

Reasoning: In my opinion they have been fairly unpopular, especially internationally [which is majority what i base these lists on]. Anyway, their songs are super catchy and beautiful. They are beautiful, talented girls and they deserve to be recognized for it. 

6. Playback

Fave Songs: “Want You To Say”, “Playback”

Reasoning: No one really knows of them or who they are. They were basically completely unnoticed until their newest song “Want You To Say”. Thankfully it was an amazing song, and on trend for the kpop industry and so it’s gaining some attention. Honestly, they are so talented and deserve so much more popularity than they have right now. 

7. Rubber Soul

Fave Songs: “Love Is”, “Life”, “Freedom”

Reasoning: Honestly they are so underrated that I thought they disbanded until Kim showed up on The Unit. I think because they aren’t super girly and cute and are hip hop they don’t get a lot of attention. But they are super talented. You should at least listen to them once and give them a chance. 

8. Bolbbalgan4

Fave Songs: “Some”, “You and Me From the Start”, “Fix Me”, “Blue”, “Galaxy”, “Imagine”

Reasoning: I think people know the songs, but they don’t have a face to the name. I don’t think they know who sings it. But she has sung a lot of popular songs like OSTs and even their group songs. It’s just no one knows the face behind the voice. Her voice is so beautiful and unique and the songs are catchy and mellow and beautiful. 

9. Cosmic Girls [WJSN]

Fave Songs: “I Wish”, “Kiss Me”, “Happy”, “MoMoMo”, “Baby Face”

Reasoning: Despite having an I.O.I member added to them, their popularity hasn’t gone up significantly. But I love them, they are so cute and talented and their songs are super catchy. They deserve a lot more recognition and love than they receive. Also there are 13 members so you’re bound to like one of them. 

10. Gugudan

Fave Songs: “A Girl Like Me”, “Wonderland”, “Ice Chu”

Reasoning: Despite not 1, but 2 members from I.O.I the group just has not seen the popularity they deserve. They are beautiful and so talented. You’ll like them once you give them a chance. They have catchy songs as well. They deserve so much more love and support than they have received.  

11. Momoland

Fave Songs: “Boom Boom”, “Freeze”, “Jjan! Koong! Kwang!”

Reasoning: Although their recent comeback “Boom Boom” is gaining some attention, before they were completely unknown. Overall I feel like they certainly haven’t reached the level of popularity that they can. They deserve so much because they are so talented. Their songs are super catchy and bright. 

12. Wable

Fave Songs: “I Want to Fall in Love”, “Violet Fragrance”, “Little Miss Sunshine”, “Mallang Mallang”

Reasoning: I think because they are more indie they aren’t known. I’m not sure anyone has even heard of them. None of their songs have garnered much attention or views on youtube. Although, people have probably heard them from the Reply 1988 ost but don’t know who sings it. Their voices are so sweet, and their songs are soothing and mellow and they are talented and beautiful and deserve more attention. 

13. Matilda

Fave Songs: “You Bad! Don’t Make Me Cry”, “Summer Again”, “Macarena”, 

An Extra Special 

Reasoning: NO ONE EVEN KNEW THEY EXISTED until they went on “The Unit” Even so, I haven’t seen a spike in their popularity or youtube views. They are so EXTREMELY talented!! They are beautiful, and sweet and work so hard. They deserve so much more than they have gained so far. Why is everyone sleeping on them omg! Just listen and you will see how talented they are. 

14. A.de

Fave Songs: “Laputa”, “Good Time”, “Strawberry”

Reasoning: Their highest viewed song has only 300,000 views. Literally no one knows of them or knows they exist. I actually really love their song “Laputa”  and I think they have a lot of talent and potential if they were able to garner the attention for funds they would be able to do so much more music wise. With a small company and small budget they do the best they can, but they deserve so much more. 

15. Highteen

Fave Songs: “Boom Boom Clap”, “Would You”

Reasoning: No one knows of them, their debut song only has 700,000 views but it’s also 2 years old. They have no popularity, no recognition and no funds. If they did I’m sure they could come out with really amazing music. They are actually talented and cute and bubbly.

This song is recent (from May 24) from the K-pop duo BOL4. I heard a clip of this song on an episode of 2 Days 1 Night and I tried to look for it but to no avail, I had to let it go. It was only today that autoplay found it while I was listening to music at work. Give it a listen. I like that their voices are unique for the K-pop scene.
