kpdh Zoey x gn! reader - Assistant Reader Headcanons
A/n: I'm a bit rusty with the headcanons, but here's some kpdh content as I get more cooking up!
Warnings: none
KPDH HC: Bobby 1
Ok so people probably already came up with this idea but it's stirring up in my head so ill just write down my own version/thoughts on the idea.
Ok so we all love Bobby correct? He's fun, enjoyable and cares immensely for the Huntr/x. . .or Huntrix whatever. And I've seen people often HC the idea of him eventually finding out about what Mira Rumi and Zoey do for a living. And while I love the idea so very much people often HC that he would inevitable learn how to fight, and while I love that as well, I think people are underutilizing one critical aspect of Bobby The fact that his voice actor, Ken Jeong, is a licensed medical physician in California and was a physician for almost 8 years
Jeong's background in entertainment started while he was still a medical student in North Carolina. Originally he had moved to Los Angeles back in 1998 and practiced medicine for several years as a physician of internal medicine at a Kaiser Permanente hospital in Woodland Hills. Eventually however, he gave it up and started working as an actor/improv artist full time.
Now picture that being Bobby
Picture Bobby, learning about the girls' way of life and wanting to be part of it because he can't stand the thought of his girls being in danger and him not being able to do SOMETHING to help them.
Instinctively, the girls teach him to fight and basically give him a crash course in Demon-self-defense and while Bobby is certainly a capable fighter possibly thanks to him having to serve in the military since South Korea requires all able-bodied men to complete 18 to 21 months of military service by the time their 18-28, fighting isn't really something Bobby perfects.
The girls quickly assure him of course that it takes time, that they've been training for years and they don't expect him to be able to perfect. And while he's happy the girls are understanding, it still frustrates him to no end.
Imagine him going back to his old roots as a physician when one of the girls, maybe Mira or Rumi, comes home with a wound they don't notice. Imagine their shock as he suddenly seems to revert to this sort of "medic-mode" and has them sit down at the kitchen counter where the lights are better. Picture either Rumi or Mira, sitting there, all confused like a kid waiting for a dentist while Bobby rummages around for a needle and thread. Them trying to convince him it's fine he doesn't need to, but Bobby is a stubborn old goat when he wants to be, and as a result they have no choice but to let him do it
They're astonished at how well he is.
The pair talk as Bobby works, and after a tender "bonding" moment, Bobby suddenly touches at a scar (one of many the girls have had accumulated over the years) during a brief moment of reflection and regret.
It was bigger, much more gnarled, than later ones. He recognizes scars like that. Courtesy of the inexperienced. Of hands not used to the slippery nature of flesh and the delicate nature of a stitch. After all, Flesh can be so much more stubborn than clothing.
But the one he just did, it's perfect. It won't even leave a scar.
. . . .wait
And at that realization, Bobby suddenly feels as though a light bulb had suddenly gone off in his head. He knows what he can do for them
It takes some time, but shortly after this moment, Bobby convinces the girls to allow him the opportunity to be their sort of on-call physician whose job is to treat wounds and certain injuries for them. He explains that doing so will make it easier on them, that they will have less to worry about. That unless the wounds are too severe for himself to do, that there will be less frequent visits to hospitals, less awkward conversations explaining how exactly they injured themselves.
(After all, a person can only lie so well for so long)
He could stitch them up He could help them. The girls are of course hesitant to accept the offer, it's a big undertaking, they are always likely to get hurt on the job, and it's bad enough the job stresses Bobby out enough as it is. To actively fix them would be hell for him. To see them potentially at their lowest and weakest. But Bobby holds strong and the girls soon have no other choice when they can't get him to change his mind despite their protests.
- The idea to become a Doctor actually came from his mother. Bobby's mother was a nurse who was very supportive of her son's aspirations and dreams, encouraging him to do whatever made him happy as long as he just gave it a shot. In the beginning she had originally nudged him into becoming a Doctor when he had first shown interest upon an occasion where she taught him how to sew and how much he had really enjoyed helping people. While still unsure what he truly wanted to do with his life, Bobby had indeed gone to med school and thus obtained his M.D. in his early years. - Bobby had always figured that he would stay as a physician for the rest of his life, never truly believing he would get into the entertainment business. However his love for music, theater and improv started while he was still a medical student. While he did indeed love his old job, music had always held a special place in his life and when it became tough to manage both at the same time and he became burnt out in the medical field, Bobby had inevitably given up one life for the other. His mother was still proud regardless
- Bobby had originally wanted to be a singer. But by the time he had attempted, despite his voice which was said to be pretty good at the time, people had claimed he didn't have the looks to pull it off. One thing eventually led to another and he eventually over time became a manager instead for a plethora of K-pop idols, some one-hit wonders and others rising stars. Huntr/x has since become one of the best and most successful he's tended to and he thinks he may be happier as a manager then he ever woulda been as a singer himself.
- Bobby, shortly after convincing the girls to allow him to basically be their doc, went over as many mythology/demonology books as he possibly could find. He did it in the hope to learn as much about demons as possible; not to hunt them, but to better understand the non-human side of Rumi's physiology, fearful that his attempts to heal her as a complete human might harm her more than aid her. What he learned became especially useful when the Saja had come to stay.
- One of the books Bobby read up on came directly from Celine herself after a long torturous conversation he had with her. But because the book was directly written by Hunters themselves throughout the long years and was thus passed down between the generations, it contained passages in it that generally left Bobby with a sour taste in his mouth. While he completely understands much of the anti-demon rhetoric written and used throughout and thus tries to keep an open mine about it, knowing what he now knew about her, the idea that someone would potentially use such terminology to describe Rumi makes him angry, and as a result its one of the books he had tried to keep at a distance, though he knows how important it is and thus he takes passages from it and copies down what he needs or has Zoey help him. He and Zoey are the only ones who know about Bobby's secret little handbook. Not even Mira or Rumi know about it, or that he wrote it with Rumi always at the forefront of his mind.
- One thing about taking care of the Saja that Bobby won't outrightly admit but has long since gotten used to, is that he hates the smell of their blood. Whether it's strictly a Saja-boy thing or a demon thing in general, Bobby generally gets nauseous over the stench because unlike normal blood which smells strongly of metal which could be nauseating, Demon (Saja) blood in large quantities smells like a combination of wet-summer mud and sulfur, leaving it to be almost rotten in a smelly-sort of way, and is guaranteed to actually make you feel nauseous if your not used to it. Though he has found that the smell of lavender does help with the stench so he always makes sure he has candles stocked up if he needs them.
FINALLY REACTING TO MY TOP 10 POST (WHEN AM I GETTING MY HUNTRIX MERCH AND VIP TICKETS???)
Before I start, I do want to say that 1. No, I did not have access to the movie before it dropped, and that uhh *looks at notes* I TOLD YALL I WAS RIGHT I KNEW IT
1. "Rumi will have a mental breakdown somewhere in the movie. "
Not only was I right about this, but Rumi ended up having numerous breakdowns in the movie. Girlie was going through it, and let's be honest...so was I.
2. "The Saja boys end up winning Idol of the year OR They win something that jepardises the girls' fame."
✅️ I WAS RIGHTTTT
They also stole our hearts during the "MY Idol" song. I've seen way too many edits of this performance on my fyp.
3." The main Trio has a really bad argument that may make them go their separate ways for a while".
I got this one both right and wrong. The girls did have a bad argument, but they did not disband(which is good. We need the next Huntrix album NOW).
4." A lot of fans end up switching sides from Huntrix to Saja Boys."
✅️ Unfortunately, I was right about this one. The Saja boys ended up taking half of Huntrix fans. I blame Soda Pop.
5. "During the Saja Boys' performance, the fans will be used to take their souls away as some part of ritual."
✅️NOW I DONT WANNA SAY I TOLD YOU SO BUT LIKE I called it first, and that's that!!! (Also, we all were in a trance when watching the"My Idol" performance, right)
6. "The Grandma's play a bigger role than expected"
❌️ Okay, you got me for this one, BUT they did make numerous appearances throughout the movie, but ate every time they were on the screen!!! Shout-out to the MVPs of the movie!!!
7. "Rumi getting injured in the film happens way earlier than we think it does".
✅️Oh, it happened wayyyy earlier. All right, maybe because cause she was chasing a certain someone😏😏. Jinu babes, u can RUN but can't HIDE from someone like Rumi. Only in your wildest dreams.
8."Mira and Rumi will clash at some point in the film"
✅️BOYYY DID THEY CLASHHH and also said some maybe hurtful things(looking right at you rumi) but their good now I know cause they told me themselves.
9. "The public turns on Huntrix after some major incident between Huntrix and The Saja Boys."
✅️ I wouldn't even call it that; I would more call it Gui-ma-was-trying-to-steal-your-souls-but-what-do-i-know. I'm just a simple girl who watched the movie trailer 15+ times.
10. "The movie will end with girls choosing each other and being more truthful to their fans."
This one meant the most to me, and it ended up happening. I'm not sure about them telling the truth to their fans, but I'm 100% sure that there was a sob-filled group hug backstage. My source??? Divine Intuition.
Make sure you stream the movie AND the soundtrack, which is on YouTube and Spotify. Continue writing the fanfics(54 to 165 in a matter of hours, A03 writers, you never sleep, do you?) Show Netflix and Sony Animation that you want a sequel!!!
HUNTRIX DONT MISS🩷💜💛
Ooh ooh ooh
Ok ok ok
So Hyun gets invited to a game night by Zoey, and true to form, he arrives with snacks and drinks, of which Rumi says "Appa you didn't need to--" and then Zoey shooshes her and helps Hyun unload everything. They've bonded over their ridiculous love of American snacks.
When the time comes to play, Hyun and Rumi have the exact. Same. Competitive Streak.
Zoey and Mira find it amusing and a little terrifying, as the two of them destroy Mira and Zoey at Pictionary and Trivial Pursuit.
In a moment of hubris, Mira challenges Hyun to a game of chess, right when Bobby showed up. So of course, Hyun wants to show off for the cutie pie I mean, Bobby, because... reasons.
So the chess match of the century ensues, and Mira and Hyun are locked in. It might be one of the most intense chess matches in the world.
Eventually, Hyun is just being chased around the board by Mira's queen, and after five minutes, Zoey says "ok, can one of you just say checkmate so we can move on to something else?!"
Hyun laughs, and finally concedes to Mira's checkmate.
As the girls chatter and clean up the board, Bobby shyly says to Hyun that one day, he'd like to play him at chess.
Cue Hyun being flattered and a dork, like his daughter, and simply stutters out he'd like that.
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
"I don't care who or what you are," Mira said slowly. "But Rumi needs us and I will kill God with my bare hands to get to her."
Zoey's eyes flashed, "She'll do it too and I'll hold him down."
"You never change," He muttered under his breath, then sighed and held out his hands. "Take my hands."
Zoey didn't hesitate and so Mira didn't either. As soon as all three were connected there was a flash of light and they stood on solid ground again.
They stood on what seemed to be a hill in the countryside. A storm brewed in the distance, a wind heralding its imminent arrival. It didn't seem too bad. Certainly not the popular impression of a hell.
"Rumi's not here," the man said. "We're here for someone else first. She just always liked a good thunderstorm, so they crop up from time to time."
"Why?" Zoey asked, raising her voice as the wind increased.
"Because if you want to get to Rumi without becoming soul-kabobs, you'll need her help." He started down the hill towards a cozy looking house, not bothering to see if they followed him.
