★ What’s on your August agenda? I got this ARC of @elise.kova’s A Duel with the Vampire Lord in the mail recently, and am looking forward to starting it later this week! I’ve thoroughly enjoyed Elise’s Married of Magic series, it’s great for fellow fans of fantasy romance. This one releases August 18th! (Check comments for description!) Later this month I also begin my grad school and teaching journey! I’ll be starting my pursuit of an MFA in creative writing, and I’ll be teaching first-year college composition. I’m both excited to get the ball rolling and a whole ball of anxious energy. 🤣 I have many days of orientations and training coming up, and it’s looking to be a busy August! Especially with the kiddos starting school in a couple weeks too (plus soccer, and gymnastics, and jujitsu 😅). A couple weeks ago I moved my desk back over to this window and am glad I did. I haven't been able to read fantasy in months... I started this one and was shocked to see I couldn't put it down! This is easily one of my favorite reads so far this year. This story had everything I love: adventure, quirky banter, and a slow-burn relationship that I was 100% on board with! I truly loved everything about this story, and Elise's writing style was such an added bonus. There isn't a single thing I would change about this story. Though this cover is what first caught my eye, the story is just as gorgeous. "Cinderella meets The Cruel Prince" is the perfect way to describe this story. If you're at all intrigued by my review (albeit vague, totally on purpose), please do yourself a favor and read this one! ★ What is everyone reading this week? I am starting my relisten of House of Earth and Blood in a bit, reading a few episodes of Lore Olympus before bed every night, and reading the eARC of Wicked Beauty! Once I finish the latter I am diving right into my eARC or @elise.kova’s A Hunt of Shadows, which releases March 1st! I’ve been dying to start it. I read the first book A Trial of Sorcerers last month and it was so good, an instant five stars from me and one of the best I’ve read in awhile! HAPPY RELEASE DAY TO @elise.kova AND A DANCE WITH THE FAE PRINCE!! Oh my gosh friends I am soooooo excited that this beauty is officially out in the world!! While this book is based in the same world as A Deal with the Elf King, it’s completely its own story and can be read on its own! This book does start out a bit slower but when it picks up ohhhh WOW!! I absolutely loved the adventure our main character Katria goes on throughout this story. From page 1 I immediately was drawn to her character and really enjoyed the Cinderella connections!! Like the first book, the biggest downside for me is I NEED more of these characters!! I am so reluctant to let all these new amazing characters go but hopefully they will make an appearance in book 3!! I cannot recommend this book (and series) enough!! ★ Fae, mer, elf, or vampire?    Happy Book Birthday @elise.kova!  The wait is over and A Dance with the Fae Prince is finally here! I read an ARC a few weeks ago, and it’s definitely in my top reads of the year. I loved everything about the story and was swept away.    I loved the elements of Cinderella, as well as Psyche and Eros, and how they were woven into the story. It was so well done! You can expect a wicked stepmother, a hand sold in marriage, a manor house on the edge of the forbidden wood, a mysterious new husband, and the wild fae your parents always warned you about.    Fans of romance (like me!), will rejoice too! A Dance with the Fae Prince has a swoony, slow burn romance that totally pays off with some steamy scenes that I think will delight fans of upper YA and adult romance alike.     What I really love about the Married to Magic world, is that Elise Kova has taken the contemporary romance model of standalone novels with a HEA, and has given that model a fantasy makeover. Like we see in many contemporary romance series, the world may be the same, the characters may crossover, but each novel itself is its own standalone story, and that’s what we have here. It’s *so* refreshing to see in a genre that sees most fantasy romances have stories spanning trilogies or longer. I really hope Elise is at the forefront of a new trend here!    I will include the description in the comments, and there is a link in my bio! There are some previous characters that make an appearance but the story line is new!! The story starts a bit on the slower side but it picks up fast and then doesn’t stop until the end!! Eira’s journey and growth in this book was one of my favorite parts!! She starts off as this timid young woman always in her brother’s shadow and becomes soooo much more!! I got a huge frozen vibe while reading this book and if you read it for yourself you’ll find out why!! If you’re a fan of elemental magic, fierce competition, and a brilliant cast of characters then this is the book for you!!
