It tells the story of Gwen,who is now a waitress in an abusive relationship with her boyfriens Earl. When Gwen unexpectedly receives a letter of space kid uncle before he died because of a heart attack, telling her she trusts her more to take care of him than any other social service. With that she begins an affair with her old friend and co-counselour David who is too taking care of a child. Looking for ways out she sees a pie contest and its grand prize as her chance to escape.
