the lunar chronicles series needs so much more love.
the world? one of the most immersive worlds I’ve ever experienced, and fun but serious.
the characters? likable and distinct and heroic and complex, with deep trauma and moral dilemmas that make them feel like real people.
the concept? unique and epic and cinematic but classic.
the romance? nearly every type there is, a slow burn star-crossed lovers, an enemies to lovers, a childhood best friends to lovers and rapunzel and flynn vibes.
the plot? complex and extremely well thought out, yet easy to understand, original and so addicting.
fractured fairytale dystopian fantasy sci-fi on futuristic earth and the moon with secret princess trope and princes and evil queens who can control minds? cinderella and red riding hood and rapunzel and snow white? I WILL TAKE IT THANK YOU.
there’s literally something for everyone, and no one could say it isn’t well written.
why this series is not hyped up more is beyond me.
As more romance/ romantacy novels introduce characters with disabilities and chronic illness, I need to see more of their S/O's actually enjoying caring for them instead of the plot treating it like some sort of burden they carry and being all self-sacrificial
Yes, of course they should worry for the protagonist, but they should enjoy caring for them when it's needed simply from a place of love
The love interest adjusts training to fit the protag's needs while never once underestimating their abilities
Instead of stereotypical "I'd burn the world down for you," morally gray guys, they would dote on their sick partner and start wars to find what the medications they need
Modern romances where the whole character arc doesn't revolve around the love interest having to "look past to see the beauty within" and instead accepts main character for who they are the moment they meet
Enemies to lovers where the moment their enemy realizes they may feel more than hate is when they threaten someone for giving a mean remark about protag's condition
Academic Rivals who are both disabled, and keep whatever the other needs on hand at all times, despite claiming to hate one another
To much disability horror makes the disabled person the monster/villain. Here are some more creative concepts stemming from my own experiences
Protagonist losing partial or complete control of their body and not being able to do anything about it
Protagonist watching their body change into something horrible and permanent (a classic!)
Protagonist finds they have a mental block and are no longer able to write or read
Protagonist gets extreme injury only watch as it gets infected and spreads to their entire body while they are forced to continue with life as if nothing happened
Protagonist is partially possessed by a demon but no one believes them
Mute protagonist who can’t use their hands witnesses horrors and can’t get help or tell anyone about it
Update on my horror-fantasy book series im planning!!
This will be the alien Daniella finds and becomes best friends with >:)
Honestly drawing this was soooo hard because I wanted it to look cute but still super alien like. It is a mixture between a hamster and a jellyfish. That jellyfish-like tail is what helps this little dude float ^^ Their tail is also a living organ. So basically, the way it works is that inside it is a super-thin membrane filled with a lighter-than-air alien gas. It constantly changes shape and the rainbow colours aren't pigmentation, as they're caused by microscopic crystal layers that refract light like soap bubbles. ^^ Had to research how bubbles work for this lmaoo. And instead of walking normally, this creature basically bounces everywhere, so technically, it can't really fly, it just floats everywhere.
Size:
Height: 18 cm (7 inches)
Length (nose to tail): 30 cm (12 inches)
Tail fin length: 20 cm
Weight: 1.1 kg (2.4 lbs)
Diet:
It technically doesn't eat anything. It absorbs energy from things like pollen, fungi, nectar, certain bacteria etc etc... On Earth, it will probably discover mushrooms and become absolutely obsessed with them lol.
This creature can recognise emotions, routines, facial expressions and breathing patterns.
For communication, the creature can't speak but they will communicate with Daniella by changing the colour of their tail. E.g., Red = anger. Pink = trust. Gray = sick. And so on.
Lifespan
Childhood: 5 years
Adult: 6 years
Average lifespan: 55–70 Earth years
For sleep, they sleep under tree branches, floating, and it looks super pretty in the night!
Personality
Almost each of these creatures share certain instincts. They are:
super curious
gentle
playful
cautious around loud noises
fascinated by water
obsessed with collecting smooth stones
Each one also develops its own quirks. So this one might love hiding in oversized hoodie pockets, stealing shiny bottle caps, or watching rain for hours. Who knows?!
I searched up "cute fantasy creatures" for inspiration and found this cute image on Pinterest and i traced some it... only to later find out it wss ai so that sucked 🥲.
I haven't come up with a name yet or what kinds of powers this creature should have so I'm open to any ideas! (I'm thinking maybe "Bubbles" is a sweet name for him😁)
