Niaya Alyse Navarro was delivered at 24 weeks, weighing only 1 pound 9 oz. She remains incubated in the NICU. Niaya Alyse was born April 2nd 2013 She weighed only 1lb 9oz. 12 in. long. She was delivered by emergency C-section at only 24 weeks when I had a placental rupture which caused me to hemorrhage and bleed out internally, and her to suffocate. With only a 50% chance of survival at this age, and a 50% chance of her being suffocated. Niaya was born with under developed organs, unable to breathe on her own, a hernia in her stomach, a hole her heart, and her lungs full of blood. She is currently in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit {NICU} at SMH, where she will remain for the next few months at least. Although Niaya does have Medicaid, I do not and her Medicaid will not even cover half of her medical bills and NICU stay which will easily be in the millions.
