Jimmy's Smoked Boston Butt is a delicious pulled pork dish that is made with a slow smoking method and a flavorful dry rub. Ideal for family dinners or get-togethers.
Ingredients: 1 Boston Butt 8-10 pounds. 1/4 cup paprika. 1/4 cup brown sugar. 2 tablespoons kosher salt. 2 tablespoons black pepper. 2 tablespoons garlic powder. 2 tablespoons onion powder. 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper. 1 tablespoon cumin. 1/2 cup yellow mustard. Wood chips hickory or applewood.
Instructions: Mix paprika, brown sugar, kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, and cumin to create the dry rub. Trim excess fat from the Boston Butt and rub it thoroughly with yellow mustard. Apply the dry rub generously over the entire surface of the meat, ensuring an even coating. Let the Boston Butt sit in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours or preferably overnight to allow the flavors to penetrate the meat. Preheat your smoker to 225F 107C and add soaked wood chips for smoke flavor. Place the Boston Butt on the smoker grates, fat side up. Smoke the meat for approximately 1.5 to 2 hours per pound or until the internal temperature reaches 195-205F 91-96C. Once done, remove the Boston Butt from the smoker and let it rest for about 30 minutes before pulling or slicing. Serve the smoked Boston Butt on buns with your favorite barbecue sauce or enjoy it as is.
