(1) You know something I’ve been thinking about recently ? Jim getting used to his new Trollish senses like his sense of smell and becoming an even greater mom-friend >:D !! Because it let’s him pick up on more than details than he could as human
For Example !! Toby just got back from another dentist appointment ….. and Jim can smell his gums bleeding a little because of it, gosh getting his braces re-adjusted must really suck, especially if it makes his teeth so sensitive. And so Jim makes something easy-to-chew for their school lunches
The hammer-wielder was already going to tell Jim he wouldn’t be able to eat anything tough to chew for a day or 2. But the fact that Jim picked up on it before he was even able to tell him it’s really cool !! Did he get future-vision ? Nope, just a really good sense of smell
Though he’s still getting used to all the information he gets and how to interpret it. Because, one day he feels a scent of blood ….. coming from Claire ??? It’s not a huge amount, but still enough to make him worried, even more because she doesn’t seem to have any open wounds to explain the scent
Great Gronka Morka !! What if it is internal bleeding, a delayed side effect of what she had to do in order to seal morgana in the shadow realm ? What does he do ? Does he bring her to the hospital or to trollmarket since it can have a magical origin ? Before he even decides, he’s already bridal carrying Claire out of the school gym
Now, even with the trollhunter being really frantic, he’s still really gentle so Claire’s pretty comfy where she is, still !! She gotta figure out what’s going one
Claire : You don’t need to bring me to a hospital or trollmarket, I’m fine
Jim (almost tearing up): But you’re bleeding !! I can smell it, what if you’re bleeding internally because of what morgana did to you
And that’s how the shadow magic user finally figures what’s going on
Claire: Jim, my dear handsome Romeo !! I am really fine ….. it’s just my that time of the month
Jim: OHHHH !! Would you like some chocolate cake ? I can make one really good super fast
(Disclaimer) !! Again, this happened because Jim is still getting used to his improved sense of smell, not because he didn’t know much about periods. In fact he’s very well informed about them !! Not only cause his mom’s a doctor, but also cause he likes to help his mom in whichever way he can, be it cooking a healthy meal or helping her deal with cramps with chocolate cake
I just really love this mental image !! Like, Jim’s a big and strong half-troll who can toss boulders the size of cars ……. but he’s also the sweetest and most caring trollhunter ever. More so now than ever before, because now he can carry more stuff !! Like, a small bottle of sunscreen for Toby if they’re going to spend time outside …. which’s ironic considering that Jim now literally burns in the sun without the use of the sunstone in the amulet, still Toby’s a red-head and he sunburns easily. Band-aids for Steve and Eli if they get scrapes while creeper slaying, some pain-killers for Claire if she gets headaches (also pads, chocolate and thermos with hot tea just because). Maybe even a little piece of hearthstone for emergencies
He’s even more of caring-menace/nark now and gets to hug all of his friends because he loves them so much (also he can really pick them up as a troll) >:D !! Like, in my au the gang volunteers to help rebuild Arcadia with the others, but Jim doesn’t want Toby or Claire to overwork themselves, so sometimes he will just pick them up ……. but them arrrgh picks up Jim because the krubera doesn’t want the trollhunter to overwork himself either, and they all sleep like that >:D
Basically Troll Jim is the ultimate mom friend …. but that still doesn’t prevent him getting scruffed by arrrgh or blinky when they think he needs a break >:D
Also, this is not the full surprise >:D !!

I LOVE thinking about Jim getting used to his trollish senses!!!
He definitely can smell when people are injured whether a bleeding wound or a really bad bruise, and at first he gets SUPER worried about them but once he's able to recognize the level of severity he becomes more casual about it and is like "hey, need a bandaid" or something like that, where before if someone had even the tiniest cut Jim would scoop them up and be like "YOU'RE DYING" because if he can smell blood that's got to be a lot... "oh wait I have a troll nose... sorry."
I also imagine he starts being able to smell other things as well, maybe even like service dogs where they can smell the shift in people when they're about to faint. And so once Jim actually finds out what those smells are he is like a 100/10 first responder because he is responding even before the thing happens!
I also really like the idea that trolls can smell emotions, so Jim has to get used to that overwhelming new range of smells as well. It definitely takes him a while to figure out what that sour smell or bitter smell actually mean, but finally he connects it to people's mood and is like "oooooh" *immediately calls Blinky or Arrrgh* "Is it normal to..."
Blinky and Arrrgh, and probably Strickler too, get lots of calls and texts from Jim starting off with "is it normal" followed either by the most mundane troll quality or the most insane thing that is definitely just a half troll/Jim thing.
I also think it would be cute if when Jim is first getting used to being a troll he's extra sensitive to smells and so all his friends start doing things to help him out. Claire doesn't put on perfume for a while because that's a really strong scent, and they even all sit outside regardless of the weather because the cafeteria smell and sound is so overwhelming with all the students that Jim can't bear to go in there.
There are even a few times where Jim gets overstimulated, but Eli calms him down because he knows what that can feel like. But eventually as Jim gets more used to all his new trollish senses he is able to be comfortable with stronger scents and noises. He still gets overwhelmed from time to time but it's definitely not as often.
