So... originally I didn't want to see the Mulan remake. But after seeing videos of these two ?!

I'm definitely going to do it.

Mulan is definitely often shipped with girls.

I love Shang & Mulan.

But in Ouat I only wanted one thing, for Mulan to end up with Aurora or Merida ?! And that never happened !

Now I also find myself shipping the one in the remake with another woman ?

Even though I really like the ship with Mulan & Honghui, but Xian Lang is just superior. And then I'm a sucker for the villain x heroine trope, you know that.

In any case it's funny that even if the remake is clearly inferior to the original (not very surprising) well a form of queer subtext persists. In the original a possible bisexuality of Shang, and here with Xian Lang whose certain gestures towards Mulan cannot be explained by heterosexuality, definitely not...

Celebrating pride month by reminding everyone that Disney owns ABC and gave them the right to their characters in Once Upon A Time, where it was revealed that Disney’s 1998 Mulan protagonist, Fa Mulan, was in love with Princess Aurora, aka Sleeping Beauty, making Mulan a CANON BISEXUAL sapphic.

This, paired with the fact that Merida has an official playlist regarding her internal character, created by Disney Records themselves, which contains multiple love songs exclusively towards women and female-aligned people and she has a canon love interest whom is a nonbinary shapeshifting being made of essentially air only inhabiting human bodies whilst she simultaneously expresses explicit non-attraction towards men yet heavily implied physical attraction towards her gal pal in the Disney-approved YA novel sequel to her movie where she was canonically disinterested in men throughout its entirety. In other words, Merida a CANON LESBIAN by literal definition and canon confirmation.

The fact that my two all time favorite Disney princesses are canon sapphics!! AND are coincidentally always gal pals in every form of media they're in together??

1.That’s stupid, because you could change the filters and the lighting easily and it’d look plausible. Not even that, who really cares if it’s not aesthetically pleasing to your eyes? I ship based on chemistry and the overall characters themselves, it doesn’t matter to me that Merida is computer animated whilst Mulan is hand-drawn, they’d be perfect for each other and they mean the world to me. I also don’t see any of you saying this about MoAriel, but I digress.
