Brigid cross
Welcoming St. Brigid into our home.
I don’t always do things by exact dates, but often take my cues from nature. With so much of my practice having Slavic roots I associate the coming holy days with Perun and thunder—so the thunderstorm last night told me it was time to start!
Step 1 — hanging a Brigid cross at our front door to invite her in.
Brigid crosses are also associated with thunder, and were said to protect from thunder and lightning.

Happy Imbolc! The days are growing lighter and we are half way to spring from winter now! Can't wait to see things growing again. It's a great time for growth, change, and rebirth. Now is the perfect time to start planning and to start make changes happen!

Imbolc or Candlemas is the first Sabbat of the year.
It is dedicated to Celtic goddess Brigid🔥, goddess of fire, inspiration, home and blacksmiths.
In the wheel of avalon, the one I follow for my rituals during the year, she represents the goddess as the Maiden, the first step of the life of a woman and the life of the goddess herself.
During this period in the wheel of the year, the Goddess is a young mother and the God is a little toddler.
As she represents a young life, so does February, where Spring officially starts to take over Winter and a new life begins.
Her symbols are the Swan, the fire, the Brigid Cross and the cane with a snake wrapped around it.
During this day it is good tradition to consume milk based foods (to honor the baby-God) and spiced foods to represent the fire of Brigid🔥
Personally I adorn my altar with a glass full of white salt or snow to represent the snow who begins to melt, rosemary and lavander and I light up a white/cream candle with a milk/honey/vanilla scent.
