The one moment that shatters my heart the most through the whole series has to be when Dooley almost shoots Silver and Flint says “no! Don’t!” and shoots Dooley instead.

First, how it directly relates to what he and Silver had constantly discussed about how if they were to come to blows, Flint would be forced to hesitate before harming Silver. The first time I watched it, I had no idea it would come back to bite me in the ass in such a heartbreaking way.

Then the utter panic in Flint’s face and the way his voice breaks. He did not even rationalize, he did not care that he would be alone facing both Silver (whom he cannot possibly even ~think~ of harming) and Israel, or that Dooley had given him his loyalty. He only cared about Silver’s well-being.

Flint, who spent seasons using his crewmen to achieve his ends, couldn’t fathom Silver being hurt, even if otherwise there was a big chance he would've intervened with his plans. With his plan to wage a war in the name of the man he was in love with. It baffles me how Flint didn't even think about it. That in that moment, he would've sacrificed the war that was so sacred for him in order to not hurt /one/ man.

Flint loved Silver so damn much and I will go to my grave sad about it.
