Bucky Barnes was not in bed when Y/N woke up. At first they only noticed because the other side of the mattress felt cold when they reached across it half asleep. Usually Bucky slept lightly enough that even moving too much would wake him, so an empty bed at this hour immediately felt wrong.
The apartment was quiet when Y/N walked out of the bedroom. The only sound came from the television still running somewhere in the living room, low enough to barely hear. They followed the flickering light and stopped in the doorway when they saw him asleep on the couch.
Bucky looked uncomfortable as hell. One arm thrown across his stomach, his head tilted awkwardly against the couch cushion like he had only meant to sit there for a few minutes before passing out accidentally. The blanket from their bed was hanging half onto the floor.
Then Y/N noticed the metal arm sitting on the coffee table, placed there carefully beside him.
Their stomach tightened a little at the sight.
“Bucky?” they said quietly.
The reaction was immediate.
Bucky woke up like someone had fired a gun next to his head. His whole body jerked forward hard, breathing sharp before his eyes even focused properly. For one bad second he looked completely ready to fight whoever was standing over him.
Then he recognized Y/N.
Everything in him dropped after that. His shoulders loosened and he dragged a hand down his face roughly before leaning back again.
“Sorry,” he muttered.
Y/N walked over slowly and sat down on the edge of the couch, glancing once more at the arm on the table before looking back at him. “Why are you sleeping out here?”
Bucky stayed quiet for a moment. His eyes stayed fixed somewhere on the floor instead of them.
“I had a nightmare.”
His voice sounded rough from exhaustion more than sleep.
Y/N waited without pushing him and eventually Bucky exhaled through his nose, rubbing his hand against his jaw.
“You moved in your sleep and I grabbed you.” His expression tightened immediately after saying it. “For a second I thought somebody was on me.”
Y/N remembered it then. Barely. The feeling of being pulled awake for half a second in the middle of the night before Bucky suddenly let go and got out of bed. They had been too tired to fully process it at the time.
“You let go,” they said quietly.
“After a moment.” His jaw clenched hard enough Y/N could see it. “I woke up and realized it was you .”
The room went silent again. Bucky leaned forward with his elbows on his knees, staring down at his remaining hand like he could not stand looking anywhere else.
“I just kept thinking about it after that,” he admitted finally. “What happens if one day I don’t stop fast enough.”
Y/N’s chest hurt hearing that because he sounded genuinely afraid of himself. Not dramatic or angry. Just looking tired and scared in a way that he looked worn down.
Bucky glanced over at the arm sitting beside them on the table.
“So I took it off.”
Like that explained everything.
But Y/N stayed where they were, looking at him quietly instead of reacting with anger like he expected.
“You should be pissed at me for that,” Bucky said quietly. He still was not looking at them. “I grabbed you hard enough to leave marks.”
“Why?” Y/N asked quietly. “You had a nightmare and scared yourself so bad you took your own arm off.” They shook their head slightly. “I’m not angry at you for that.”
Bucky stayed silent.
Y/N moved closer, kneeling in front of him so they were at the same level before speaking again.
“I know who you are, Buck. I wouldn’t still be here if I thought you were gonna hurt me, and I know you wouldn't do that on purpose.”
Y/N slowly lifted a hand to his cheek, making Bucky finally look at them again.
Summary: You couldn't remember why you and Bucky harbored hate for one another. With a little push from Sam, the tension reaches an all-time high. Will things evolve or remain the same?

Opening the door of your apartment, you let out a surprised gasp as you gazed between the Two men standing in front of you. Your mind began whirling with assumed ideas as to why they were there. Raising an eyebrow at them, you groaned already figuring what they needed.
"There's no way I'm working with him." You spat, allowing him and Bucky entrance into your apartment.
Standing in your living room, you crossed your arms along your chest as you glared at Bucky.
"He's in therapy now-" Sam started.
Scoffing, you rolled your eyes. "And that suddenly makes him a saint?" Your face contorted as anger began bubbling to the surface.
"Look, you know we wouldn't be here unless we desperately needed your help." Sam sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose as he squeezed his eyes shut.
"Oh," You huffed, nodding your head in understanding. "So I was your last resort. Cool, Cool, Cool."
Sam let out a groan as he opened his eyes again, sending you a pointed glare. "You know that's not what I meant."
"Right." You drew out your word not fully believing him. "So why are you and Cyborg here?"
Bucky let out a quiet growl at your dig at him.
Shaking your head you scoffed as you rolled your eyes at him.
"Would you Two stop," Sam spoke, holding his hands out taking a few steps so that he was standing in between you. He sent Bucky a glare before turning to face you allowing him to give you the same expression.
"This is bigger than...Then whatever you Two are always fighting about." He spoke, his voice turning stern. "Look, we're here because we need to find Zemo."
Your jaw fell slightly, as you furrowed your eyebrows together. Your mind racing a million miles a minute, as you attempted to justify their need to find him.
"I'm sorry...Am I missing something?" You questioned allowing your arms to drop from their defensive position. "You're looking for the guy that we fought...The guy that triggered Bucky and-"
"I know how this sounds," Sam spoke his voice softer than when he last spoke. "But there's a bigger threat now."
Dropping your gaze to the floor, you let out a defeated sigh. Nodding your head, you returned your gaze to Sam's face. "Alright...I'm in."
Bucky let out a groan as his shoulders dropped.
Frowning at his reaction, you furrowed your eyebrows together. A ping of sadness washed over you.
--
Once you had located Zemo, the three of you had made your way to his destination.
The ride there was filled with bickering coming from Sam and Bucky. Sitting in the backseat, you had become unusually quiet.
"What's going on in that mind of yours, Y/N?" Sam questioned, sending you a quick glance in the rearview mirror.
"Huh? Oh, uh, nothing." You spoke, cringing at your uneasiness.
"If you say so." Sam hummed.
Sighing, you turned to gaze out of the window, your mind became cloudy with the memory of Zemo triggering Bucky years ago. Shifting in your seat, you were overwhelmed with a sense of uneasiness.
As your attention was cast out of the window, you were unaware of the concern glance Bucky sent your way. Returning his attention back to the front, Sam caught his attention. Sam raised his eyebrows at him in question before sending him a smirk, making sure to let him know he was caught in the act.
"Alright, kids." Sam's sudden voice caused you to jump. "We're almost at the motel for the night."
---
When Sam pulled into the motel parking lot, you were the first out of the car. Letting out a quiet groan, you stretched your arms above your head.
Sam was the first to grab his bag before he made his way to the lobby. Reaching for yours, your hand brushed against Buckys. Inhaling a sharp breath you quickly yanked your hand away as if you had been scorched by something hot.
Without saying a word, you were fast to turn on your heel rushing towards the lobby. As Sam came out, he had a mischievous glint in his eyes. "Here's your shared room. They only had rooms with one bed available."
Your eyes widened at him. "Wait-"
"I've been with Bucky long enough, I'm not sharing a bed with him too," Sam spoke. He made a subtle glance at Bucky sending him a quick wink before returning his attention back to you.
"Whatever." You grumbled, snatching the key from Sam's hand as you made your way towards the room.
--
Tossing your bag down, you gathered your pajamas, before rushing into the bathroom in an attempt to avoid any small talk with Bucky.
Once you were changed into your nighttime clothes, you fidgeted with your bag before making yourself comfortable on the bed as Bucky glided into the bathroom.
Sighing, you fell back on the side you had claimed. Your mind clouded with thoughts of feelings. The moment Sam had stated you were going to share a bed with Bucky, your breath had hitched in your throat while your hands became clammy. Butterflies fluttering in your stomach brought you back down from your thoughts.
Crawling into bed, you pulled the blanket up under your chin as you were laying comfortably on your side. Closing your eyes, you hoped it would save you from any possible arguments or conversations.
However, when you heard the bathroom door open, the butterflies in your stomach returned. As Bucky climbed in, you attempted to ignore the fluttering feeling. Shivering slightly, you tried to wrap the blankets tighter around your form.
Without uttering a word, Bucky tossed around in bed before he mirrored your position. The heat that radiated off of him, was enough to alert you of his close proximity, the heaviness washing over you.
Reaching behind you, your hand gently grasped Bucky's wrist making sure to give him a light tug as you wrapped his arm around your waist. You heard his breath hitch before he was pressed firmly behind you. His chest was snug against your back, while his leg softly nudged its way between yours.
Nuzzling your pillow, you couldn't help but let out a content sigh. The butterflies became harder to ignore as you were wrapped in his arms. Bucky's free arm moved some of your hair away from your neck exposing it before splaying beneath your pillows allowing you to rest your head upon it.
His breath hit the back of your neck before his nose gently traced the back of your neck. The hair on the back of your neck stood at attention while your senses were in overdrive. Your back arched slightly as a quiet moan slipped past your lips. Bucky's arm tightened around your waist in the process. He gently pressed his lips to the back of your neck while being cautious as to not cross a line.
Turning your upper half in his arms, you laced your hand in his hair tugging him down towards you. His lips brushed yours before finally taking your lips between his.
Bolting upright, your chest was rising and falling at a rapid pace, while a thin sheet of sweat covered your skin. A ball of sweat rolled down your chest.
Bucky was quick to join you. "Are you okay?" His raspy voice laced with concern, as he studied your features.
You hummed in response, as your eyes were trained on the crown molding of the room.
Bucky's warm fingers gently grasped your chin, angeling your head to face him. "Are you sure?"
Gazing at him, you mapped the features that were etched along his face. His ocean eyes pouring into yours.
"I..." The words lost in your mouth. With his metal hand resting on the bed, his chest was angled towards yours. The close proximity almost allowing them to touch. Your breath hitching as the realization dawned on you, as you were taken by surprise that Bucky was concerned.
Without a word, Bucky laid on his back gazing at you as made himself comfortable before opening his arms in a welcoming manner.
Furrowing your eyebrows together in confusion, your jaw fell slack. "A-Are you sure?" You whispered, your eyes widening at his actions.
Rolling his eyes, Bucky sent you a toothy smile. "Just... Come here, before I change my mind." His eyes carried a playful glint in them.
Placing your ear upon his chest, you wrapped your arms around his waist. One of Buckys hands landed in your hair beginning to scratch your scalp. The other, landed behind your knee gently pulling it over his hips wrapping you in each other.
His warmth calming you almost immediately. Your eyelids grew heavy as you allowed sleep to overwhelm you just as Bucky pressed a gentle kiss upon the crown of your head.
---
Once you were back on the road in search of Zemo, things had seemed to change between you and Bucky. The arguments between you had changed to flirtatious remarks.
When you arrived at the prison that held Zemo, you felt your heart fall into the pit of your stomach.
Standing next to Sam you frowned slightly. Before you knew it, Sam and Redwing were checking the perimeter leaving you and Bucky alone.
"Bucky.." You whispered as your eyebrows furrowed together.
"Hey, what is it?" He questioned his features dancing with concern as he stood before you.
"I...Be careful..."
Smirking, he raised an eyebrow at you.
"Who else is going to annoy me if you're back to being-"
Chuckling, he rolled his eyes. "I'll be fine." Tucking a piece of hair behind your ear, he leaned forward placing a chaste kiss on your cheek. "Besides, I had a pretty girl to come back to."
Heat rose in your cheeks, as butterflies erupted in your stomach.
---
When Zemo joined your small group, Bucky had returned to his previous persona before that night.
Sighing, you couldn't bring yourself to rebuttal anything he shot at you. It had been insult after insult. In his mind, he was protecting you, he felt the more he pushed you away the safer you would be.
As you were getting dolled up for the mission, you noticed the subtle glances Bucky sent your way. On the one time you caught him, he was quick to avert his gaze while clenching his jaw.
"Don't you look beautiful," Zemo spoke from behind you.
Whirling on your heel, you scrunched up your face as you gazed at him. "Thanks."
As Zemo was ready to respond, his mouth opened but Bucky's voice came out.
"I think Sam wanted to talk to you," Bucky spoke, standing beside him. Clearing his throat as a rosy color danced along his cheeks.
Nodding your head, you went to find him.
Turning to face Zemo, Bucky let out a growl. "Leave her alone."
Zemo tutted, as he sent him a toothy grin. "Has the Winter Soldier gone soft?"
Grabbing him by the front collar of his shirt, Bucky yanked him forward as rage danced in his eyes. "I'm not the Winter Soldier anymore."
"But-"
"And as for Y/N," Bucky glanced around in an attempt to make sure you hadn't heard the altercation between them. "She's mine."
Grinning in a taunting manner at Bucky, Zemo chuckled softly. "You have a funny way of showing it."
---
"Winter Soldier," Zemo spoke as he stood before Bucky at the bar. A hand was placed on his shoulder. "Attack."
Your breath hitched in your throat as you and Sam stood watching Bucky. Sadness washed over you, as you saw a flash of pain wash over Bucky's features. As you watched Bucky go through the motions you frowned.
After the mission was successful, you hadn't missed the concern oozing off of Bucky. You hadn't looked at him since the beginning of it. You couldn't help but feel as if your heart broke.
"I..I need some air." You spoke breaking away from the group without waiting for any response.
The bitter evening air whirled around you. Crossing your arms along your chest you made your way towards the nearest ally allowing yourself to lean against the wall. Closing your eyes, you let your head rest against the bricks.
"You shouldn't be out here alone."
Without opening your eyes, you knew Bucky was standing before you.
"I'm not alone, you're here."
A silence fell between you. Frowning, you opened your eyes as you gazed into his ocean eyes.
"I.." His voice trailed off as sorrow washed over his features.
"Was it all a joke to you?" Your voice breaking at the end. Your composure was quickly crumbling as tears welled in your eyes.
"No. No, it wasn't-"
"So what?" You questioned feeling yourself becoming defensive. "You want to give me a glimpse behind the walls again before you shut me out without a second thought?"
Bucky flinched at your words, as they came out much more harsh than you intended. "No-"
Scoffing you rolled your eyes. Tears began to cascade down your cheeks. Kicking off the wall, you didn't want to partake in the conversation anymore. As you began walking away from Bucky, you felt his calloused hand wrap around your wrist preventing you from retreating from him. Whirling you around, you collided with his firm chest.
Releasing your wrist, he placed his hands along your jaw before placing his lips upon yours. His lips were softer than you expected while a salty flavor invaded your mouth.
Pulling away, he rested his forehead against yours as your breath mingled together. "You're not going anywhere."

summery: Bucky and Steve are sent out on an “easy mission” but when they encounter a teenage girl in a great deal of pain, their mission course changes.
warnings: some mention of torture and pain
It should have been an easy in and out mission. Tony had sent Bucky and Steve on a duo mission to take out a hydra base supposedly only holding a couple of hydra goons, and take files if any were found. It was suppose to be a semi- abandoned base.
As they flew over France and nearing Germany, Bucky started to get worried. “I don’t like this Steve, Hydra never leaves behind tracks, this doesn’t seem right.” By this time he was pacing the length of the military style plane, as Steve piloted. “It’ll be fine Buck,” Steve said calmly. “We’ve done a ton of these before, plus we have intercom to call backup just incase.” Bucky’s shoulders seemed to relax a little, but Steve could still easily tell that he was anxious. Bucky had never gone into another Hydra base since becoming the Winter Solider, afraid about how his body might subconsciously react. He felt ready for this one however, after training his mind to focus on the now, and he felt that he was getting pretty good at it too.
They landed the quinjet in an open forest just outside of a small German town made of roughy 3,000 people. The base was close by, about a 5 minute trek from the landing site. Using their renewed skills from military training back in the 40′s, they were easily able to get to the outskirts of the base without being heard, or seen. It was hard to keep quiet however when they saw what they were up against.
The building looked like an old bunker, with tall stone walls, and strong metal doors. Hundreds of people in tactical gear roamed the grassy plain, guns in arms at all times. Trucks pulled into the building carrying god knows what. All that the super soldiers could mutter, was “shit”.
“We don’t have time to call Tony,” Bucky breathed quietly. “What do you mean? We can’t take all of these people on by ourselves Buck, thats insane.” “I know punk, but if they have that many guards around that must mean that they have people inside that they don’t want getting away.” Steve pondered this for a moment, thinking back to when he saw where Bucky was kept in Russia not that long ago. “You’re right, but we can’t just march in there. I have a plan, but it’s not gonna be easy. You up for it?” “Always up for a challenge”.
They had snuck around back and managed to somehow sneak in through a broken window. With guns and shield drawn, they walked through an abandoned hallway, on high alert. That is when the screaming started.
Y/N’s POV
I was strapped to a chair in the blue room as I called it. The room where all the torture happens. The instruments and blood (both mine and others) littered the floor around me, as my head hung low and my metal arm clenched subconsciously. I freshly branded hydra logo shaped burn on my neck furiously stung as I hunched my shoulder closer to my head to keep the cool air from hitting it. “I’m done with her, put her back” came a deep low voice that I recognized all too well. I knew neither his name or what he looked like, but he was the doctor I knew had done all this to me.
The guards dragged me by my arms as I tried to walk with them, trying to stay on my feet. They sat me on the rotting metal bench and detached my metal arm from its implant in my shoulder. They always took it off to make sure I couldn’t use it against them. I was left in bare feet with nothing but loose tattered pyjamas and one less limb to call my own in a cold and drippy cell. I scurried under the bench and curled up trying to preserve my warmth. Suddenly I heard distant yelling and the clanging of metal against metal. I didn’t think they would come back for me already, which furthered my confusion. Voices started nearing, speaking in English, a language that I knew decently, but did not prefer to my native tongue of German.
“This is the cell block” said a man with a low voice “I recognize these kinds of doors. Open all of them, there might be people here.” I knew enough English to know they were coming to get me, but their tone about if they were good guys or bad guys was unclear. I curled further into myself as I heard my cell door open.
“BUCK! THERES A GIRL IN HERE!” A higher voice, but still low enough for me to know it was a man said.
I kicked my foot out as a warning while yelling “Nein bitte, du hast gerade die Experimente beendet! Bitte!” (No please! You just finished the experiments! Please!) Still cowering in the corner. The other man with the lower voice looked into my cell and I could feel his heart break. “Steve,” he said slowly. “She’s just a teenager” I was sobbing at this point, pleading in German for them to leave me alone. “Ich bin schon genug verletzt!” (I’m already hurt enough!) I cried as loud as my voice would allow. The dark haired man leaned down so he was at my level. “Es ist okay, Puppe, kannst du für eine Sekunde rauskommen? Wir werden dich nicht verletzen.” (It’s okay doll, can you come out for a second? We aren’t going to hurt you.) He cooed in a soft voice. I crawled out from under the bench and sat up, tears threatening to spill.
“Can you stand up?” Said the blonde man with the higher voice. “No arm.” I said with a heavy accent, as I rolled up my left sleeve so they could see the heavily damaged skin and the implant that my arm usually sat in. “Hurts” I said, voice wavering”. The man with the dark hair slowly took off his jacket as I backed away, afraid. “no, no darling it’s okay, look” He said, showing his metal arm to me. “gleich?” (same?) I asked tentatively. “Ja.” (yes) He said. Thats when I began to cry. He moved slowly closer to me and cradled me in his arms and rocked soothingly back and forth as the blonde haired man watched from the door, guarding us. Bucky as I now knew brushed my hair out of my face as he whispered calming things to me.
Without my metal arm in place, the implant began to hurt. I began to furiously scratch at it as I always did when it burned which left ugly red scars just like this man had. He rolled up my sleeve the rest of the way and held my hand. “Ich weiß, dass es Puppe verbrennt, aber du wirst es nur noch schlimmer machen.” (I know it hurts doll, but you’ll only make it worse” He whispered into my ear as he continued to rock me. “Everything hurts” I said with a german accent. “My shoulder, the brand, my ribs.” I sat up, and slowly pulled off my T-shirt leaving me in just a tank top to show him what I meant. He saw the brand on the side of my neck and moved to touch it when I cowered back. “Sorry” he muttered, clearly distracted. I then lifted my shirt slowly to show him my side, where all the bruises where and a cluster of bumps clearly indicating some fractured ribs.
“Steve” Bucky said quietly, but with urgency. “We have to leave now. Screw everything else. Call Tony.” Steve turned around and simply nodded before looking out the door around corners. “It’s now or never Buck, i’m not sure how much longer we will be in the clear.” Bucky turned to me. “Darling i’m going to pick you up and get you out of here okay?” I nodded slowly as he lifted me off the cold ground. I bit my lip and hissed and tried to breathe through the pain as we ran out of the only place I had ever called home.

Groaning, you pulled into the driveway. As per usual, the house was filled with party-goers. The house was so luminescent, that you could see the lights from miles away.
It wasn't long before one of the many butlers that your brother employed greeted you.
"Good evening, miss Gatsby." He stood beside your car door, waiting for any form of instruction.
"Good evening." You grinned, exiting the car. "I'm assuming my brother is brooding as per usual." You spoke tugging off your gloves.
"Yes, he is, miss Gatsby." He nodded.
Exhaling a huff, you nodded. "Of course he is." Turning toward the house, you felt dread wash over you. The jazz band's music danced through the air as people danced along.
"I suppose I should get going then." You spoke as your voice broke.
Making your way towards the stairs, you were abruptly stopped by the butler.
"Wait, miss Gatsby!"
Furrowing your eyebrows together in confusion, you turned slightly allowing yourself to gaze at him.
"Yes?"
Clearing his throat, he adjusted his collar. "Mr. Gatsby told me not to tell you-"
"Is that so?" You questioned raising an eyebrow.
"He invited Two of his friends from the war-"
Cutting him off with a groan, you rolled your eyes grumbling to yourself.
"I think you might find their presence refreshing..." He muttered, quickly getting in your car and taking it to the garage.
Standing on the steps stunned, you hummed in thought.
One of the many drunken party-goers stumbled behind you.
"Gatsby's party is the Cat's Pajamas!" He bellowed holding his arms out as if to show.
Jumping, you felt your heart race as you were startled by the sudden booming voice.
Scoffing, you stomped into the house. It became much more of a hassle to dodge drunken people. Wherever you walked, it reeked of alcohol.
Making your way to the second floor, you stood on one of the many platforms that overlooked the party.
"There you are!" Jordan's voice singsonged through your ears.
Rolling your eyes, you were about to come face to face with one of the people you had a strong dislike for.
Turning around, you plastered a fake smile upon your lips. If you hadn't put on a smile, word would spread that you were a bad co-host.
Leaning in, you greeted her with air kisses as she did you.
"Where have you been-"
"Y/N!" Jay's familiar voice called. "I've been looking everywhere for you. Come, there's someone I want to introduce you to." Swooping in, he linked his arm through yours. "Pardon me, miss Baker." He spoke, offering her his signature flirtatious smile. "I must steal my sister away." Lifting her hand to his lips, he placed a gentle kiss on the back of it.
The sound of Jordan's giggles filled the air. Only those standing immediately close to her would be able to hear. A pink tint danced along her cheeks, as she gave Jay a toothy grin.
Whisking you away, he ushered you into one of the rooms he had one of the butlers clear out. Closing the door, you let out an exasperated sigh.
"Thanks for the save." You chuckled, making yourself comfortable on one of the chairs.
Chuckling, Jay nodded. "Of course."
"So, is there really someone you want me to meet, or was that just one of the great gatsby rumors?" You questioned raising an eyebrow.
Rolling his eyes, Jay stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows. Clasping his hands together behind his back, he stared in admiration at the Greenlight across the bay.
"There is." He muttered. "I just figured I'd give you a moment to regroup since we both know how you get when you're around too many people."
Sighing, you joined your brother's side.
"How long are you going to keep waiting for her?" You questioned glancing up toward your brother. You were overwhelmed with sorrow, as your heart broke for him.
"As long as it takes," Jay responded without missing a beat. "I've loved always loved her."
Frowning, you nodded. Even if you didn't understand why he felt strongly towards Daisy, you pushed your personal feelings for her aside in support of your brother. Jay had girls throwing themselves at him left and right, but he never took up their offers.
Opening your mouth to speak, you were interrupted by the sound of someone knocking.
"Sorry to bother you mister and miss Gatsby..." The butler's voice trailed off, as he opened the door, allowing himself and two other men inside the room. "I have mister Rogers, mister Barnes, and mister Carraway."
"Thank you," Jay spoke dismissing the butler.
Glancing at Jay, you couldn't stop yourself from feeling confused. He was throwing an enormously luxurious party yet, he stood here in an empty room wanting to introduce two friends of his to his sister. Both men stood before you proudly, in their uniforms.
Clearing your throat, you shook your head in an attempt to clear your mind.
Smiling, you extended your hand greeting the men. "It's nice to meet you."
Glancing up, you felt a strange sense of Deja Vu.
"Have...Have we met before?" You questioned glancing between Mister Barnes and Mister Rogers.
"Please, call me Steve." He spoke shaking your hand graciously. "This is Bucky."
"Y/N." You spoke.
"We served in the war, with your brother." Bucky chimed in, his blue eyes piercing into yours.
"Ah, yes." You thought aloud as you nodded.
Before you knew it, the room had cleared, leaving you and Bucky alone. As time went by, you sat together on the loveseat in the room conversating for hours.
Attempting to stifle a yawn, you covered your mouth with your hand. Glancing at his wrist, Bucky gauged the time.
"It's getting late.." Bucky sighed. "I should probably go find Steve.."
"Oh, yes of course." You spoke, feeling a ping of sadness. Out of all the men you had met, Bucky had been the most genuine.
Leading you out of the room, it wasn't long before you were caught in a swarm of women. Each one, desperately wanting Sargent Barnes' attention.
As more and more women, came, the more distance that was created between you. Frowning, you found yourself on the outside of the swarm
Turning on your heel, you began making your way down the hall. Tears foamed in your eyes as you walked away.
A warm firm hand clasped around yours preventing you from any further retreating.
"Where do you think you're going doll?" Bucky questioned, giving you his warm toothy smile.
Rolling your eyes, you yanked your hand out of his, earning a frown from him. "I'm surprised you noticed with all the High-Hat women around you." You spat, crossing your arms along your chest.
The beads and sequins of your dress lightly scratching your skin in the process. Luckily, you had been wearing one of your favorite dresses. It was a baby pink tank dress, with hand-sewn beads and sequins all through it. Around your middle, the dress had a silver belt made of beads.
As you stood before Bucky, you shifted all of your weight upon one leg. With your free one, you began impatiently tapping on the marble floor.
Bucky smirked at you, as he read you. Tilting his head, he bit his lip. "Are you...Are you jealous miss Gatsby?"
Scoffing, you rolled your eyes. "Not even in your dreams, mister Barnes." You spat, resuming your walk down the hall.
"Oh!" He exclaimed chuckling. "You are!"
Not bothering to respond, you shook your head. The rest of the walk was filled with silence. Joining the party, you felt a slight panic bubble within you. Jay was always the more sociable between the two of you.
Sneaking a glance at you, Bucky was able to pick up on your sudden change in demeanor. Taking a chance, he slipped his hand into yours. The feeling of his warm firm hand, caused butterflies to erupt in your tummy. Glancing up, you sent him a closed-lip smile, silently thanking him.
It wasn't until you both had almost walked the entirety of the house that you found Jay and Steve.
"Great of you to finally join us." Jay teased.
Rolling your eyes, you let an exasperated huff tumble from your lips. Jay bounced his gaze from your conjoined hands to your face, sending you a silent question.
Removing your hand from Bucky's, you cleared your throat. As you glanced at his features, you thought you were able to see a flicker of disappointment.
Steve had excused himself for a brief moment, leaving the three of you alone. Something undescribable hung in the air.
"So, old sport..."
Shaking your head, you already drowned out what Jay was saying to Bucky. Gazing around the platform, you observed the party-goers. It had gotten much later resulting in the party slowly dying down. Some of the attendees had passed out along the steps while others were laying along the floor in the halls.
"What time works best for you?" The sound of Jay's question rang through your ears. Snapping your head towards either man, you gaped at your brother.
"Whatever it is, you don't have to participate in." You spoke turning toward Bucky. Panic began bubbling up.
"How about Nine?" Bucky questioned.
Jay smiled. "Nine it is then." He nodded, retreating to one of the rooms as he excused himself to take a call.
Turning to face you, there was a tinted color along Bucky's features. "I, uh.." His voice trailed off.
"We should get going," Steve spoke, clasping a hand on Bucky's shoulder. Gazing between you and him, he felt the electricity in the air. "Am I interrupting something?"
"No." You quickly responded. "I was just leaving." Following the direction that Jay had gone, your movements were hurried as you practically ran into the room.
Sighing, Bucky returned his gaze to Steve. "Oh, I know that look." Steve beamed staring between his best friend and the direction you had just retreated in.
"Shut up." He hissed, ducking his head. "Let's get out of here."

"Come on, Buck." Steve groaned while he shoved his hands into the front pockets of his jeans. "You haven't dated since the forties. Don't you think it's time to get back out there?" He nudged his friend's shoulder as they continued walking side by side down the sidewalk.
The bitter night breeze met the slight barrier of their leather jackets, that slightly reflected the street lights.
Bucky huffed, shaking his head slightly. "I don't know.."
Steve sighed. "She won't go out with me unless her best friend has someone to go out with too."
"Tragic story," Bucky spoke rolling his eyes. "But I don't see what that has to do with me."
"Well...." Steve's voice trailed off as he reached up scratching the back of his neck. Once they walked to the bar, both men came to a halt standing awkwardly before one another. Each man giving his tell of anxiety. Bucky, glanced down at his gloved covered hands, as he fidgeted with the seams. While Steve, reached for the back of his neck scratching it.
"Well... You.. You see.." Steve shifted from foot to foot as he attempted to piece together words that wouldn't bring Bucky to alert. "She's.." Letting out a huff, he furrowed his eyebrows together as his shoulders slumped forward in defeat. "She's not like a typical girl."
"I...I don't know how to explain her to you-" Steve gave up his attempt. "Come on, see for yourself." Opening the door, Steve led Bucky towards the stools you and Sharon were sitting.
"Here, let's sit here and you can form your own opinion of her." Steve spoke, flagging the bartender as they sat on the side of the bar with the ability to watch anything unfold.
--
"Come on, Y/N." Sharon groaned. "Give him a chance."
Scoffing, you rolled your eyes. Lifting your drink to your mouth, you attempted to ignore her pleads.
"I...I just want you to be happy." She frowned as her eyes filled with sorrow.
"What makes you think I'm not happy?" You questioned raising an eyebrow at her, as you felt your eyebrows furrow together.
"It's just-"
Cutting her off, one of the many sleazy men that had been ogling your best friend had decided now would be the time for him to make a move.
"Well, aren't you a sight for sore eyes." The man grinned giving Sharon a head-to-toe survey. Turning his attention to you, he was taken back by your rough around the edges exterior.
"Aw, it's okay princess." He cooed at you, reaching his hand up towards your face attempting to push a strand of hair behind your ear.
Swatting at his hand, you felt your blood beginning to boil. The music that had been streaming through the speakers seemed to quiet, as everyone's eyes were on you in anticipation for how you would react.
"Don't touch me." You hissed through clenched teeth, holding Sharon's gaze.
"Come on, babe." The man continued, his hand landing on the ledge of the bar attempting to cage you in. "With a body like that, you should be grateful, I haven't-"
Raising your eyebrows, you felt heat dance upon your cheeks while adrenaline coursed through your veins. Whirling your head in the direction of the man, you scoffed. "I should be grateful, is that right?"
"Y/N..." Sharon spoke attempting to calm your sudden rage.
"Well..." You stood, nearly knocking the man to the ground. Moving around him, you stood in the walking aisle. Placing your purse strap on your shoulder, you kept one hand closed around it. "I guess in this society, being male and an asshole...Makes you worthy of our time." You spat, as you felt your features harden.
Cheers erupted from all areas of the bar, as you carried a smile while walking to the entry of the bar receiving pats on the back and praise from strangers.
Once the door closed, Steve cleared his throat as he brought Bucky's attention back to the previous topic. "So-"
"You need someone who doesn't scare easy." He spoke, nodding his head in understanding. Raising the bottle to his lips, he gulped a sip before letting out a sigh. "When's the date?"
Catching him by surprise, Steve gazed at Bucky in confusion, before a smirk made its way upon his lips.
--
"What if he doesn't like me?" Sharon questioned her face filled with concern.
Rolling your eyes, you crossed your arms along your chest. "He would be stupid not to." You sighed. "Besides, there's plenty of other guys that are dying to take you out."
"Y/N!" She groaned, stomping her foot in the process. "You're not helping!"
"Well, do you want the truth or do you want me to lie?" You questioned raising your eyebrows.
Before either of your could finish your conversation, the sound of rapid knocks on your front door bounced off the walls.
Silently, you thanked whoever was at the door, for interrupting your argument. Walking towards the door, Sharon was hot on your heels.
Opening the door, you frowned as your gaze fell upon the two men standing before you.
"Uh, can I help you?" You questioned crossing your arms along your chest.
Clearing his throat, the blonde shifted his weight from foot to foot. "I'm here to pick up, Sharon."
Turning to face your friend, her face was illuminated with something you hadn't seen cross her face in a long time.
Bringing your attention back to the men before you, the blonde had his eyes locked on Sharon. Stepping out of your apartment, they linked their arms together before the hallway was filled with giggles and chuckles.
Momentarily, you had forgotten he had come with his friend. Clearing his throat, your attention was brought back to the man before you with a baseball cap upon his head.
"So-"
"No, thanks." You spat, taking a step back readying to shut your door in his face. "Not interested."
Slamming the door shut, you leaned against it as you closed your eyes attempting to regain your breath, that the icy-eyed man seemed to have stolen.
Sighing, he screwed his eyes shut.
--
Minutes before reaching your door.
"Come on, Buck." Steve pleaded. "You promised!"
Bucky groaned. "You saw how she ate that man from the bar and spit him out."
Steve sighed, defeat quickly setting in. "But, you're Bucky Barnes. A super-soldier, former hydra assassin, former Winter Soldier..." He spoke clasping his hand onto Bucky's shoulder. "You can do this."
"Fifty dollars." He negotiated. Crossing his arms along his chest sending a glare in Steve's direction.
"I'm not paying you to go out with a girl!" Steve exclaimed mirroring Bucky's stance.
"Then I'm not-"
"Fine."
"Fine?" Bucky questioned surprise etching along his features.
"Fine." Steve shrugged, pulling out his wallet and handing him a fifty-dollar bill. "Now, let's go."
--
Pinching the bridge of his nose, he made a mental note to tell Steve he would be upping his price if this were to continue.
Forming a fist, he lifted his hand, rapidly knocking on your door.
"Go away!" You yelled from the other side of the door. "I'm not buying what, you're selling!"
"I can do this all day, doll." He chuckled.
Yanking open the door, you sent him a deadly glare. "Leave before I call the cops for solicitation."
Pushing past you, he made his way into your apartment as he ignored your protests. Shrugging off his jacket, he placed it on your coat stand, before putting his hands in his front pockets.
Groaning, you shut your door, before turning to face him.
"Not too shabby." He spoke aloud.
"Gee, thanks." You spat. "I always hoped to gain the approval of someone who trespassed into my apartment."
Rolling your eyes, you plopped down on your couch before resuming your show. Letting out a content sigh, you had almost forgotten about tall dark-haired man.
Sitting beside you, he made himself comfortable, placing his arm along the backside of your couch.
As some time passed, there was a comfortable silence between you.
"I'm Bucky." His husky voice causing your stomach to flutter.
Nodding your head, you attempted to ignore him. "I didn't ask."
Silence fell between you. Frowning, you let out a defeated sigh.
"Y/N."
Much to Bucky's surprise, he hadn't expected you to respond much less give him some sort of acknowledgment of his presence.
"I sure hope you're not going soft on me, Y/N," Bucky spoke in a playful tone. You could hear the smile in his voice.
"Wouldn't dream of it."
As time passed, you couldn't concentrate on the show, but more so on the built man beside you. Your mind had convinced you that he was slowly but surely moving closer towards you.
Deciding you wanted to check, you turned to face him only to notice his thigh was millimeters from coming in contact with yours.
With widened eyes, you lifted Y/E/C eyes only to lock eyes with his ocean-colored ones.
"What?" He questioned attempting to be nonchalant about it. Bucky was well aware of what had gotten to you.
For once, you were at a loss for words. Opening and closing your mouth a few times you felt your mouth going dry. The smell of his cologne filled your senses, as you were overwhelmed by Bucky.
Your front door flew open, revealing a very inebriated Sharon and Steve. Both you and Bucky jumped away from one another as if you had been caught in the act of something intimate.
Jumping to his feet, Bucky turned to face you offering you his hand. Gazing at his covered hand then his features, you felt betrayed by yourself as you accepted his gesture allowing him to tug you to your feet.
Clearing your throat, you moved around the coffee table and assisted Sharon to the couch.
"I...I should get him home." Bucky spoke as he maneuvered Steve's arm across his shoulders allowing him to hold most of his friend's weight.
Humming in response, you crossed your arms along your chest nodding your head. As Bucky crossed the threshold into the hallway, he halted his movements.
"I had fun, not doing anything with you." He spoke grinning at you when he saw a pink dance along your cheeks.
Rolling your eyes you shook your head. "Goodnight, Bucky."
Shutting your door, you leaned against it as you let your head fall onto it with a soft thud. Butterflies had begun erupting in your stomach as heat rose along your features.
"Did someone thaw that ice-cold heart of yours?" Sharon questioned suggestively wiggling her eyebrows at you.
Groaning, you ignored her comment turning your attention back towards the show you were watching. Your mind clouded with thoughts of Bucky.
"Just so you know, Steve and I made plans for our next date," Sharon muttered as she closed her eyes, allowing slumber to overwhelm her.
Her confession did nothing to halt the butterflies in your stomach. Grinning to yourself, you couldn't stop yourself from the thought of seeing Bucky again.

"I don't know what you're talking about." You scoffed, crossing your arms along your chest. "I...I have to go."
"Y/N..." Sam's voice trailed off. His features flashed with sorrow. "If...If you're in some type of trouble-"
Groaning, you rolled your eyes. "And what if I was?" You challenged raising an eyebrow in question. "You and the only other member of your boy band." You nodded at Bucky. "Are going to help me?"
"Hey!" Bucky chimed in.
Sam let out a frustrated huff. "Y/N, come on, we're only trying-"
"To help?" You finished for him. "Yeah, I got that." You shrugged, shoving your hands into your jean pockets. "I'm not some helpless little girl, you need to protect."
"That's not what, we're saying...At all." Bucky frowned, his eyebrows furrowing together in confusion.
Sighing, you let your shoulders drop in defeat. Dropping your gaze down towards your shoes, you let your mind ponder the pros and cons.
"There are ... There are things you don't understand." You muttered.
Sam chuckled. "Seriously? We fought, Thanos, got wiped away by a snap... There's nothing we haven't seen." He smiled placing a comforting hand on your shoulder.
"I....I highly doubt that." You sighed. "Fine, but we have to talk to the being in charge first."
Walking away from the men, you paused before turning towards them expectantly. "Come on."
---
Standing before the big house, you let out a sigh.
"I see you brought some friends." A familiar voice spoke from behind you. "Not to mention, it's against the rules."
Gasping, you whirled around on your heels turning to face him. "Chiron-"
Coming closer towards you, he examined both Sam and Bucky a tad closer. "So, these are some of your Avenger friends."
Opening and closing your mouth several times, you glanced at the Two men. Both sending you a concerned gaze. Nodding your head, you acknowledged his statement.
"Well." He spoke, standing up straighter. "There's not much I can do, since they're already here," Chiron spoke, sending you a subtle wink.
A sly grin made its way upon your lips. "Th..Thank you." You stuttered.
"Come on, there are a few people I want you to meet."
Walking through the camp, you gave them a fast-paced tour. Leading them to the arena, you stood between them, watching Percy compete in the course.
Gazing at the stands, your eyes locked with Annabeth's. Sending her a soft smile, you led them towards where she was sitting.
"How's he doing?" You questioned.
She chuckled. "Better than usual, but you know how his ego can get."
Leaning forward, her eyebrows crushed together, as she gazed at Sam and Bucky. "And they are?"
"Oh!" You exclaimed, bringing your attention back. "This is Sam and Bucky. They're Avengers."
"Huh." She nodded before returning to her normal position. "How'd you pull that one off?"
Giggling, you shrugged before jumping to your feet with Annabeth and Grower, attempting to cheer Percy on.
Once Clarisse had won, the arena cleared out, leaving the seven of you alone.
"So these are your other friends?" Percy questioned panting slightly.
"Uh-Huh." You hummed.
"Nice to meet you." Percy shook both of their hands. "I'm Y/N's-"
"Perry Johnson! There you are." Dionysus exclaimed racing up to the group. "I have a very important quest for you." He spoke handing Percy the broom before he glanced around expectantly.
---
"So..." Your voice trailed off. "This...This is your new brother?" You raised an eyebrow in question. "A....Cyclopes."
"I guess Posiden had more than one kid." Grover chimed in.
As Tyson was telling the story of how he was claimed by Poseidon, you glanced around the table before locking eyes with a pair of cerulean ones.
Quickly averting your gaze, you felt butterflies erupt in your stomach while your heat danced upon your cheeks.
Clarisse bounded over to your table, with a toothy grin plastered along her lips.
"Well, look who has a new brother," Clarisse spoke happily. "And I can see he has his daddy's eyes." She grinned evilly. "Well, eye."
The sound of giggles erupted from other tables filled the air. Frowning, you felt a ping of sadness for Tyson.
"You should really get him some sprayable mist." She chuckled.
Frowning, Tyson quickly reached into his bag, putting on his darkened sunglasses.
"Anyway, kinda interesting timing don't ya think? Maybe Poseidon decided he needed another son.." Her grin only seemed to grow. "To you know...Represent."
"Bull." Tyson spoke.
Clarisse's stance immediately changed to defensive. "Excuse me?"
"Smells like bull." Tyson repeated.
Seconds later, the tables jumped. Exchanging confused glances, it happened a few more times.
"We got barrier action!" Clarisse spoke, racing off in the direction of the bull.
Standing in your group, the camp shield jolted with each hit.
"That's so awesome." Clarisse grinned.
It wasn't much longer before the sound of glass shattering filled the air. The mechanical bull heading straight towards the gathered campers.
"Run!"

Summary: The reader convinces their friends to go and celebrate New Yorks Pride fest.
Summer Time Masterlist
Walking through the compound you were waving a Rainbow flag, you had gotten from someone handing them out along New York streets.
It was the beginning of Pride and everyone was embracing the celebration. The scorching June heat taking the energy out of everyone, although the festival goers didn’t seem to be bothered.
“Hey, Y/N….Woah.” Tony greeted as you walked pass him. “What happened to you?”
Giggling you rolled your eyes. You knew exactly what he was referring to but you thought it’d be fun to force it out of him.
“What do you mean?” You tiled your head slightly.
“Don’t take this the wrong way but…” His voice trailed off as he contemplated bringing it up. “You look like a unicorn threw up on you…”
Chuckling you shrugged. “It’s pride!”
“Yeah, I got that.”
“Y/N!” Wanda’s voice called from further down the hall. “Happy Pride!” She jolted the further distance between you.
“Oh no.” Tony groaned. “Not you too.”
Glancing at Wanda, she was wearing an outfit much similar to yours. Although, the only difference was that her’s stated she was a proud ally to the Asexual community while yours was a tank top with the Ace flag on it.
“Happy Pride!” You exclaimed happily, as you handed her one of your three Asexual flags.
“You guys started without me?”Natasha’s voice called from behind you.
Turning on your heel, you were greeted by your other best friend wearing the same outfit as Wanda. Handing her your second to last flag, you bounced excitedly on your heels.
“Where did you get that flag on your face?” Wanda questioned pouting slightly.
A soft laughter passed through your lips. “I got it from someone on the streets.” You shrugged.
“Are you guys ready?” Natasha questioned.
Nodding your head, you began following her through the halls. Passing by several workers each giving your small group a double take.
“Y/N?” Bucky’s voice called.
Turning on your heel, you grinned. “Hey.”
“Where are you going?”
“We’re going to go celebrate Pride!” You exclaimed waving your rainbow flag for emphasis.
Nodding his head, he gazed at your attire.
“Y/N! You coming?” Wanda called from the other end of the hall.
“Be right there!” You called over your shoulder.
Bucky glanced at his feet, while ringing his hands. “Would…Would you mind if I came with?”
Furrowing your eyebrows together in confusion, your jaw fell slack slightly. “You…You want to come to Pride?”
“Yeah.” Bucky shrugged nonchalantly.
A quiet ‘hmp’ left your lips. “Alright.” You nodded shrugging.
Linking your arm through his flesh one, you began walking to where Wanda and Natasha waited impatiently for you.
Reaching the Two girls, Natasha raised a questioning eyebrow in your direction. You shrugged in response.
—
Walking through the streets of New York, you were greeted with care free people. Many people were dancing around the closed streets, while others carried drinks in their hands singing along to whatever songs were playing.
Giggling you glanced up at the towering buildings. People had been sitting on their window ceils or in their fire escapes joining along the party.
Warmth and happiness radiated through you. A toothy grin made it’s way upon our lips. Confetti was thrown from the tops of buildings.
Confetti was entangled in your hair while coating your shoulders. Turning to face Bucky, he was gazing at you as you were enveloped in the moment.
“What?” You questioned with a toothy grin.
“Nothing.” He shared your grin.
Gazing at each other, you weren’t sure who moved in first. Before you knew it, Bucky’s lips were latched on yours. Breaking the kiss, you grinned as you rested your forehead against his breath mingling.
“Bucky?” You questioned, your stomach erupting in fireworks.
Pulling away, his eyebrows furrowed together in confusion. “Did I do something wrong?”
“No! No, not at all.” You spoke quickly. “It’s just…I have to tell you something.”
Nodding his head, he was quiet.
“Let’s go down one of the quieter streets.”
Grasping his hand, you intertwined your fingers leading him down a different street.
Taking in a deep breath you stopped at one of food trucks that littered the streets. Sitting on one of the plastic chairs, you felt heat danced along your cheeks.
“Bucky, I’m….I’m Asexual.” You rushed out.
Furrowing his eyebrows together in confusion he was silent for a moment. “What…What does that mean?”
“It means different things for different people.” You shrugged. “It’s the lack of sexual attraction to others or even an absent interest in sexual activity.”
“Oh.” Bucky spoke, his voice quiet as he attempted to wrap his mind around your confession.
“I fall under the lack of.” You shrugged taking a sip of your drink. “I have an extremely low sexual attraction to anyone.”
Bucky lifted his gaze to your eyes peering into your soul. “Okay.”
Standing up from his seat, you furrowed your eyebrows together. Your heart fell into your stomach as you thought about what would happen now.
“I understand if you don’t-“
Cutting you off, Bucky gently grasped your jaw moving your face allowing him to place his lips on yours. Pulling away, his forehead was against yours.
“I’m in.” His raspy voice rang through your ears.
Giggling you wrapped your arms around his shoulders gently tugging him closer to you.
“Can I still kiss you?” He questioned as his breath mingled with yours.
“Please do.” You muttered pulling him back in for a kiss.
“I knew it!” A voice shrieked causing you and Bucky to pull away.
“You owe me twenty dollars!” Wanda cheered as an annoyed looking Natasha handed her the money.
Giggling you buried your face in the crook of his neck.
“I should get one of those flags.” He spoke nodding to the Asexual flag you were holding.
Grinning at him, you kissed the tip of his nose. “Here, have mine.”
