Birthday Wishes (Drabble)

Buck looks down at the cake and back up at Eddie.

His stomach swoops at the sight.

There's flour all over him- even some in his hair. Buck's fingers ache with the need to get it out of there.

"I tried to do a brithday cake. It… didn't work out well", Eddie says with a nervous laugh and scratches his neck.

Buck gapes at him.

"It's perfect," he chokes out

And, honestly, what is he supposed to do when the love of his life does something like this for him? Not kiss him?

"Happy Birthday", Eddie whispers into his lips.

Week One of Buddie Month !!!

“Just thinking,” Buck murmurs, turning back to face the ocean. A gentle breeze ruffles his hair, and he breathes it in, reveling in it. The wind is cool and soft on his skin, the ripple of water so peaceful that Buck could melt into the night like the final rays of the sun into the sea.

Somewhere behind him he hears Chris animatedly discussing the various ships that drifted toward their docks or back out to sea. He asks Chimney a million questions about the boats moving in and out of the harbor. Affection blooms deep in Buck’s chest.

“That sounds dangerous. What about?”

“You, Chris. I never thought I’d get to have something like this, you know—stability. A family.”

“Buck…” Eddie says gently, taking his hand in his own. He leans over and gives him a light kiss on the jaw.

“I can’t wait to marry you tomorrow. I’m burning the receipt, not takesie-backsies.”

“Shut up,” Eddie murmured in light amusement. "You know I would never—" He frowns when the floor seems to sway beneath them. “What was that?”

“So it's not just me?” Buck asks, “I was telling you all earlier—”

There is a loud, splintering crack that shatters the peace of the quiet evening. One moment Buck is dry, the next he’s floundering to get his head above water.

Mistakes Were Made

"Um… Eddie?" Buck called out. Pulling his shirt over his head, Eddie left his bedroom and made a beeline for where he'd heard Buck's voice. He'd just reached the kitchen when Buck threw a hand up to stop him in his tracks. "What's wrong?" Eddie asked, peering in cautiously. "Everything," Buck said with a gloomy sigh. Stepping to the side, he turned his puppy dog eyes on Eddie as Eddie took in the coffee spilling all over the bench and onto the floor. "I'm sorry." With a smile, Eddie pulled Buck into his arms. "It's okay. We'll clean it up."

The Love You Gave Me (Nothing Else Can Save Me)

Eddie Diaz has made a lot of mistakes in his life, but letting the two most important people of his life leave had arguably been the biggest ones. His son decides to fix that. This is a MamaMia!Au. Prompt: "Mistakes were made"

I got myself in a mess (and without you I'm in more)

After Chris leaves for Texas, Buck can only take so long before he needs to do something. Cue a trip into the woods, lots of different couches and a family that slowly starts to grow back together again. Prompt: "Couch"

All This Time I've Wasted (You Were Right There All Along)

It happens naturally, is the thing. So, so naturally that Buck doesn't even notice it happened, at first, not until he's sitting at the table in the station, coffee in his hands, talking to Bobby. Obviously, the realization hits him in the middle of a sip and he inhales enough coffee to make him seriously consider never touching a mug again, while he's retching over the sink trying to get it all out. Or: Buck kisses his best friend, realizes he's in love with him and is a disaster about it. Eddie is confused, but decides to go with it. Christopher would like them to stop, please, he's getting a headache. Propmt: "What have I done?"

Would You Rescue Me (When I'm By Myself)

When Eddie gets a text in the middle of the night, it's only a matter of moments before he tells Chris he needs to leave and sits in his car on his way to Vegas. If there's one person outside of his son he'd drop everything for, it is Buck, after all. Prompt: "What have I done?"

Who Are We (To Fight The Alchemy)

Buck is standing in the kitchen. He's turned away from Eddie, currently bowed over the counter, with his curls lose and soft on top of his hair, buried in one of the hoodies that Eddie bought so that both he and Buck have something oversized here. He has stolen one of Eddie's pajama pants and is wearing his favourite winter socks. -or- Eddie comes home to find Buck there. He has a few realizations about it Prompt: "Baking"
