fun thought. Eddie definitely sells the El Paso house at a major profit and Ravi is like, "goooooollllllllly, what CAN'T he do?" and he approaches him with a Property Brothers-esque partnership where Ravi finds the property to buy and deals with the paperwork and Eddie does the actual fixing up. And it's supposed to be a side thing. A way to make extra money and keep busy on days they're not on shift. But they become insanely successful. Like ludicrously successful. Like approached by HGTV (Ravi wants to do it and for them to call the show "From Dire to Fire" by the way) successful because they're two really good-looking guys flipping houses. Meanwhile, Buck's at the firehouse, reading books called "Interior Designing for Dummies" and tilting the cover to face Ravi. He's at home reading articles published on the Sherwin Williams website out loud to Eddie. Just hoping one of them (eddieeddieeddieeddieeddie, he'd settle for ravi) will ask him to help.
also another great thing about the club scene is that it's maybe the first time as far as I can remember that ravi and eddie have had a 1:1 scene together? and ravi's impressions of eddie previously have been second-hand mostly from buck (who makes eddie sound extremely cool and like a saint on earth), and watching eddie on calls and in inner circle social gatherings (where he seems very charming and funny and competent). hell, the last significant time ravi directly interacted with eddie was eddie saving his ass in the s8 finale and him being starry-eyed over it.
and then the club. watching buckandeddie in a social setting outside of the 118 and seeing eddie be just. such a little failmop of a man in a club setting. watching buck with alternatively pining and extremely jealous eyes. grumpily and hornily drinking beer as buck is in his element flirting and being a charmer. truly ravi must've been like. oh fuck they're both losers for each other.
buddieravi bi speed dating episode that exists only in my heart is just soooo juicytasty…. ravi buys all three of them tickets thinking it’ll be a fun boys’ night experience & then finds himself getting progressively more aggressively wooed by extremely hot people all night. meanwhile buck is trying to kill everyone with his mind ESPECIALLY ravi (does not notice, is busy explaining frolf to a dilf) because doesn’t he know that eddie’s straight?? literally it’s so fucked up of him to bring eddie to an event where he’s not going to be comfortable. NOT that eddie’s uncomfortable around bi people OBVIOUSLY but he & chris JUST got back to la & bobby is dead & eddie honestly shouldn’t even be thinking about dating at ALL never mind— hold on. what is eddie giggling at. more importantly WHO is eddie giggling at because it looks an awful lot like eddie is flirting with some guy with a bad perm & terrible fashion sense & buck should really go over there. just to make sure he’s okay. (eddie has been talking about buck for four minutes straight. well. seventeen minutes if you include the first three dates he’s been on.) and also ravi’s mini dates with buck & eddie are extremely weird & awkward ❤️
ravi should use his evil landlord powers for good and tell all the other landlords (i assume they’re connected) that buck would be a terrible renter. like look at the guy’s credit score trust me you don’t want him. and voila. buddie roomate era going strong.
piggybacking off of spec chats with @pettyeddiediaz of buddie hook-up in 9x13 where they Do Not Talk about it after. the episode ends with them awkwardly hitting the road back to LA...
CUT TO NEXT EPISODE: buddie is only in the background continuing to be awkward but if you aren't paying attention you won't notice them because it's a chim and hen episode. but it's there. they're fumbling and nervous around each other, avoiding each other, staring forlorn when the other isn't watching. it's not addressed AT ALL until the very end when buck and eddie are finally the focal point of a scene and they are Weird in front of their coworkers and they scurry away in opposite directions. chim points it out like "is something going on with them?" and ravi explodes "you only notice NOW?!" because he too was in the background the whole episode having to deal with buckandeddie's bullshit.
actually more on my buck loves gushing with ravi rather than just to ravi agenda. he's like so relieved not only to have someone who understands but someone who won't accuse him of being in love with eddie if he speaks about him a little too long. ravi never even accused him of that in the first place before he got the whole eddie thing which means it's so totally normal to be so !!!! about eddie and that was never a question to ravi so buck is just enjoying his carefree isn't eddie great time. meanwhile ravi is like i'm not in love with eddie but i'm not not in love with him and the only reason probably is that i don't have a chance when buck's here. and he thinks buck is just really enjoying having someone to vent to about being in love with eddie which is so completely the opposite of what buck thinks is going on. and one day ravi is like desperate for a new story he hasn't heard about eddie before and it doesn't even have to be heroic it could be like that he went out to get orange juice for breakfast because buck really wanted it so he goes buck hey buck when did you realise you were in love with eddie like is there a story behind it. and he's soooo excited to share this with buck who is like actually a really good friend now he thinks and oh. buck just threw up everywhere. huh. weird.
okay jumping on the buddieravi trapped under rubble together bandwagon. consider this, there’s no big love confession, but eddie hasn’t moved back to la yet, the earthquake happens not long after the funeral and hes still there and its an all hands on deck sort of situation, and thus buddieravi ends up trapped, they’re sitting there under the rubble and eddie confesses ‘if we survive this, chris and I are moving home’ and buck whips his head around to stare at Eddie with wide eyes and it’s quite for a moment, and ravi to break the awkwardness and also mistaking buck’s bewilderment as panic says ‘well, buck if you need a place to stay Ihave a pretty decent guest room’ and before buck can even turn to look at ravi eddie’s like ‘don’t be ridiculous, i’m not kicking buck out, we can share’ and buck, still staring bewildered at eddie goes ‘ha ha yeah of course’ and ravi decides to just drop it because he’s so tired of being stuck in Their Bullshit.
(unfortunately for ravi, this is Not the last of this particular bullshit)
