*thank u @casscainmainly & @cashmerecorey for the name for this duo. it’s a beautiful name & i can’t stop thinking about it since i heard about it. the au is named after you guys :)

to reiterate the roles: cassandra cain & duke thomas are dean and sam respectively. cassandra practically worships bruce in canon, who represents john in this au since he’s canonically cass’ adoptive father. while i love bruce and don’t think he’s as abusive as john… his control in batgirl2000, more focused on the mission than cassandra’s wellbeing (aka having a normal life) is disregarded. it’s why barbara represents bobby bc she represents cassandra’s desire for affection, and need for a normal life

duke is a harder fit but. considering his backstory w/ being a meta… that could be similar to duke having demon blood. ofc, much like the spn narrative, it’ll be emphasized he isn’t evil but. it becomes a hard decision for cass whether to follow batman’s orders of the “greater good” or save duke

duke & cass backstories w/ their parents is still included to some degree. while this is an au i genuinely don’t believe the story would be them if their backstories aren’t included. the difference is that they get adopted by bruce at a young age rather than waiting until their teenagehood.

steph is tentatively castiel. i’m stuck between rose, especially with how loyal she is to her father vs steph, who by the time meets the bats, already is rebelling against her dad. rose, who still yearns for her father’s affection, would better parallel his arc (but changes can be made for steph)

elieen could be izzy from duke’s we are robin series. ofc, this is up to change but i really like their bond. how they’re equals there, how duke is there for her during her complex familial relationship. it would be really sweet
