Scared of one’s own Shadow

I’ve already posted a version of this idea before, but it wasn't good enough, so i had to revisit and remake this drawing. Now both bunnyprinces are featured.

These are first signs of their reality alternation skills waking up.

When Melchior Cleto returns to real world  during full moon nights, his shadow behaves similarly wild and can linger in a castle after he’s gone to the illusion realm again.

Hiiii! A mutual of mine is hosting a lil St. Valentines event on Twitter with prompts dedicated to Severus, so I wanted to participate with small drabbles :3c

Here's the first day, enjoy! (Please be gentle, english is not my first language and I'm certainly not a writer 🙏)

That morning was a tense one… and not precisely for everyone.

When Abby stepped out of her dorm and into the Common Room, she inspected the place in search of the person whom she was worried about; Severus Snape.

The O.W.L.s had just passed and she wished it was what worried her, but no… it wasn’t. Yesterday had been one of the worst, if not the worst, day for her friend and she was worried about how he was processing it all… but he was nowhere to be seen despite it being somewhat late.

Maybe he’s just in the Great Hall, she thought, deciding that she wasn’t going to waste any more time in the Common Room and go there to find him.

The loud gibberish of the Great Hall could be heard from afar, filled with happy students having their breakfast and commenting about what exciting plans they had for the summer vacation. It was kinda overwhelming… but after a few years, one had to get used to it.

With a quick pace, Abigail approached the Slytherin table and took a seat in her usual spot, looking around to find her friend, but… he was nowhere to be seen. He wasn’t in the Great Hall either it seemed.

“So… Whilhem” Abigail called her classmate who was eating his breakfast nearby. “Have you seen Severus? I didn’t see him in the Common Room”

“Abby!! Hi!” The boy greeted her cheerfully before answering. “Severus? Ohw… he didn’t want to come out of the dorm, he’s not feeling well after what happened yesterday” Wilkes made a small grimace at the reminder of the latest stunt from the Marauders.

“I see... thanks” She responded quietly, before turning her attention to the food on the table.

She had the suspicion that something like this was going to happen, Severus tended to skip meals when something was troubling him, and honestly, after what happened, she didn’t blame him for not wanting to get out of the dorm.

Not even letting a second pass, she quickly took a napkin and spread it over the table, gathering over it a few sandwiches and a few strawberries before wrapping it up, taking it with her as she got up from the table and rushed to leave the Great Hall.

There was something important that she had to do.

A soft knock on the door caught Severus’ attention, making the boy turn towards the door without any sort of intention of getting up. Making a face at it, he just took his pillow and pulled it over his head, hiding completely in that blanket cocoon that he had created.

But whoever was knocking didn’t stop there, slowly opening the door and stepping in the dorm.

“Severus…?” A voice, Abigail’s voice, followed right after.

A groan from the bed was the only response directed at her.

“Sevvy”

“Leave me alone” Severus insisted, shrinking himself even more in a fetal position. But then realization hit him.

“Abby??” He asked in a mix of surprise and confusion, sitting up as he removed the pillow from his head. “What are you doing here!? This is the boys’ dorm! You should not be here” He scowled slightly at her.

“Uh-huh” Abigail rolled her eyes and ignored his reprimand, walking to him. “I just wanted to bring you this” with these words, she raised her hand and showed him the napkin package.

Quickly, suspicion was present in Severus’ face as he narrowed his eyes, looking at the package as if it was a bunch of poisonous herbs bundled in the napkin.

With a sigh, Abby chuckled and shook her head. She understood why Severus was so untrusting, but she was his friend after all… he wasn’t going to harm him.

“I got to know that you haven’t left your bed, so I decided to bring you something to eat” she explained with a warm smile, taking a seat at the edge of his bed as she began to undo the wrapping, revealing to him the sandwiches and strawberries.

At the sight of the food, Severus’ brow relaxed and his shoulders relaxed, before looking away.

“I’m not hungry” he said simply as he hid the turmoil inside of him. His stomach was empty, he hadn’t had any food since yesterday’s lunch… and yet, it felt like there was a storm inside of him that was consuming him inside out.

“It’s okay, you don’t need to eat it now” The brunette responded, not wanting to push him… she knew it just made him feel worse. “I’ll leave this here in your nightstand, just in case you get hungry later”

With that, Abigail got up and took the napkin package with her, leaving it on the nightstand like she said she would and placing a small kiss on Severus’ forehead. Just like she used to do whenever he was upset.

She was about to leave when she felt something holding the sleeve of her robes, making her look back.

Severus was crestfallen, his long hair covering his face as he held Abby’s sleeve with the tip of his fingers. He didn’t say anything… but the message was loud and clear.

Smiling with tenderness, Abby took a seat at the edge of the bed again without saying a word, just letting the silence be their companionship as he leant his head on her shoulder.

Breakfast could wait… for now, she just wanted to be there for him, even if it meant getting detention for being in the boys' dorm.
