Father Gregori's rope jokes and his connection to the idea of something greater

i dont necessarily believe that they are the same characters (i feel like they made that obvious by having bubby, coomer and tommy return so far). but these connections feel that may allude to the origin or the cause of the self-aware AI. maybe they share similar source code between hl and hl2, or the game is a constantly evolving entity and took code from hl's ai to create hl2's ai, though i feel like its too early to really know what this is all about
