Here’s a horrible thought for y’all: the fact that everyone knew Wei Wuxian was dead and didn’t consider the possibility that he was still around even after they completely failed to capture his soul and even considering the complete lack of a corpse suggests someone saw him die. The fact that everyone thinks Jiang Cheng finished it even though he didn’t suggests that Jiang Cheng was a) alone during the siege and b) was probably the one to announce his death and bring Chenqing and Suibian to the sects. These two facts together suggest that there’s a pretty good chance Jiang Cheng watched his brother die.
