The concept of the whole thing being El's dream as a trauma response to being forced to open the gate by Brenner.

And the ending of her dying making much more sense because she couldn't see a way out other than sacrificing herself because she blamed herself for all the damage.

Abuse isn't funny, but imo, this would've made more sense for the ending with what the Duffels were trying to go for instead of the "We see El as this magical childhood figure" Bs.

MILAH “if you don’t want me getting drunk, gambling away our money, ignoring our recently almost dead kid, and, incidentally, making public fun of you with the guy I’m cuckolding you with, all you have to do is drop any hard-won security in your life and follow me anywhere I like no matter what danger it puts us or the kid in” was TRAPPED by RUMPLE’s manipulations.
