Watermelon Poke by Janet Hudson Via Flickr: Since I make this a lot I can be critical...forbidden rice was not cooked enough and there was way too much of it, too many edamame and not enough seaweed or nori. Otherwise, the bomb!

‘’I saw my life branching out before me like the green fig tree in the story. From the tip of every branch, like a fat purple fig, a wonderful future beckoned and winked. One fig was a husband and a happy home and children, and another fig was a famous poet and another fig was a brilliant professor, and another fig was Ee Gee, the amazing editor, and another fig was Europe and Africa and South America, and another fig was Constantin and Socrates and Attila and a pack of other lovers with queer names and offbeat professions, and another fig was an Olympic lady crew champion, and beyond and above these figs were many more figs I couldn't quite make out. I saw myself sitting in the crotch of this fig tree, starving to death, just because I couldn't make up my mind which of the figs I would choose. I wanted each and every one of them, but choosing one meant losing all the rest, and, as I sat there, unable to decide, the figs began to wrinkle and go black, and, one by one, they plopped to the ground at my feet.’’ - The Bell Jar, Sylvia Plath - - Truer words have never been spoken. “Be grateful for not only what you have, but what you can give.” 🤲🌟 Volunteering at @gmweho in a beautiful atmosphere with beautiful people, beautiful food, beautiful music, beautiful dancing, and for a beautiful cause indeed taught me this. DARE to be happy in a time of grief. BRING the positive energy in a crowd that needs it. SMILE so bright that people can see it from space. 😁✨ For one, I’m extremely thankful for this plethora of a butternut squash tamale, autumn fruits and greens, cranberry relish, a dairy free pumpkin chocolate cheesecake, and a wild rice pilaf! This was actually my first meal at Gracias Madre AND my first tamale (ever), which made the experience that more exciting! 🍽🍰🍎🥕🌽 On another note, I don’t particularly celebrate Thanksgiving as enthusiastically in terms of ethics and morality, but I do like to take this day as an opportunity to volunteer and spread love wherever I can. It’s really important to research, consider your arguments, and make a decision from there. That’s why I still remain active in fundraisers and volunteering events like this! 👍🧡💛 #superfitbabe #health #diet #nutrition #bestlifeproject #vegan #glutenfree #plantbased #wslf #hclf #rawtill4 #pegan #graciasmadre #cafegratitude #poroaxaca #oaxaca (at Gracias Madre)
