Termina’s Location

Some people have told me that Termina is in another dimension, which didn’t really sit comfortably with me. So I have the headcanon that Termina isn’t in another dimension, it’s another country, in the same world as Hyrule.

It’s already common knowledge that Hyrule is just a country, the closest ones being Holodrum, Labrynna and Calatia (Hytopia is a bit ambiguous as I don’t know it’s place in canon). The worlds that are in a different dimension include The Dark World, Subrosia and Lorule, each of which had portals to the main over world (Hyrule, Holodrum and Hyrule again). Labrynna, however didn’t have a dark world area, as it was just the same country in different times, meaning Link couldn’t exit the country, much like his time in Termina.

As for the tunnel, it has already been established that Link was in the lost woods, an area known for it’s numerous warp points. As exampled in Ocarina of Time with the warp points to both Goron City and Zora’s River. It is also exampled by Stalfos appearing in both the Forest Temple and the Shadow Temple, Stalfos being said to originate in the lost woods.

It would also explain how Epona arrived in Termina safely, as when Skullkid stole Epona, he wasn’t being fully controlled by the mask, so he didn’t kill her and what’s another way to mean ‘I got rid of it for you’? Move it to another country.
