Yet another new study debunked the basis for the anti-trans sports bans. It was never about sports but for creating legal avenues for exclusion and abjection. This is one of the largest analyses ever conducted, involving 52 studies and 6,485 trans people. Read the study here.
post so nice had to reblog it twice and force it down everyone's throats
At minimum about 4.5 thousand people liked this without reblogging it.
We gotta fix that.
Progress.
Onwards!
I can't access the full paper, but their conclusion is right there in the abstract:
While transgender women exhibited higher lean mass than cisgender women, their physical fitness was comparable. Current evidence is mostly low certainty and has heterogenous quality but does not support theories of inherent athletic advantages for transgender women over cisgender.
hrt and transgender surgeries being positioned as dangerous and experimental despite being around for much longer than ozempic, which many people are pushing as a miracle weight loss drug while ignoring its real medical indications and any possible negative side effects
it seems like hypocrisy but it's really the same idea: your body is not yours to control. you are not allowed to be fat, you are not allowed to be trans, we will say whatever it takes to keep you in line
saw someone say "an 11-year-old isn't even supposed to know what sex is and if you do something horrible must be happening to you and you need to get out of there" like can we be for real for a moment. have some people honest to god never heard 11-year-olds making sex jokes in their life
and let's be honest. if something bad was happening, good sex ed would help them recognize that. trying to shelter children from even knowing what sex is doesn't help or even work, it actually enables abuse. teach them about consent
Sex ed is essential to protecting kids from sexual abuse. It's what teaches them that it is something wrong, and that they need to tell someone. Whether it's happening to them, or to a friend, or to some random kid they're talking to on the internet, they can say, "Wait, I know about this, don't let them do this, tell somebody!"
Keeping kids completely in the dark about sex only serve to enable abusers. Don't buy into this purity culture bullshit.
Teaching children that any discussion of their body is shameful and should not happen is a sure fire way to empower an abuser to control them. Give children the language they need to protect themselves and tell trusted adults about their concerns. Give them a way to ask questions in a safe and welcoming environment.
Certified Sex Ed Post!
Asexuals were always part of pride and it really fucking shows when people think it's a recent term.
Although not going by the term "asexual" yet, asexuality was spoken about alongside homosexuality as far back as the 1890s. Asexual history is just as vital to queer history as any other term and I'm so tired of watching us being treated like a new thing
This image is so so fucking important to me
Reblog this, cowards
"Queer space" as in "this space is created with the needs of queer people in mind and you should expect to encounter queerness here", not "you have to be queer enough to be allowed in"
"Queer space" as in "this space centers queerness", not "queers only"
Remember to make space for the heteros this month too - yes, really.
Lesbians who became straight men
Gay men who became straight women
All straight drag artists (note that not all of them are cis!)
People with complex identities who thusly encompass multiple orientations (like genderfluid and multigender people who, yes, are sometimes straight, or even simultaneously with other labels)
Hetero aro and ace people. Especially. Seriously.
People with fluid orientations
Gnc people who find joy in their straightness
Many queer people are also straight. Queerness is note solely reliant on gayness. These people too, are a part of pride. Remember that.
[All discourse attempts will be swiftly blocked. Exclusionists fuck off]
On paper, me and one of my partners 'could scan as a straight couple'.
Now, in reality:
Hahahahaha
Absolutely the fuck not
Like. One of the last times we went out together in the evening, as we were walking from the sushi bar to our friend's burlesque/drag show we pretty much immediately attracted the attention of some unattended Youths who elected to follow us for half a street plaintively calling
"Hey mister!"
"Hey mister, I'm homophobic!"
in the hopes of getting us to acknowledge them.
I went through enough nonsense r.e. bi, ace, and trans people not feeling welcome in queer spaces both online and irl in the 2010s and I have no patience for it in any of its incarnations.
This is actually also another good example bc couples that may appear outwardly as "Straight" should also be welcomed into pride bc you should not make assumptions about people's orientations or identities.
100%!
Also like. Unless you actually know somebody, you have no idea what their relationship is to the person (or people!) they are attending a pride event with.
Due to amatonormativity and heteronormativity, I am sometimes assumed to be dating my best friend. Due to cisnormativity and the way they like to present, xe tends to be read as 'woman'.
So when we attend pride or general queer community events together there is a chance of us reading as a straight couple (as they mentioned to me this morning, cis gay men, and people who assume that being queer = looking 'alternative' often don't pick up that they are Part Of The Community).
Granted, if somebody squared up to us and said that we shouldn't be at Pride because of 'being a straight couple' I think we would both laugh ourselves sick, but it's just such a stink attitude to take, and a sad use of time and energy that could be spent enjoying community instead.
INCREDIBLY CONCERNING SPIKE IN ANTI-BLACKNESS IS HAPPENING RN.
Some of yall may have heard some of the shit that has been going on right now. I'm gonna give a quick run down of some of the stuff that has been happening. Note, this is not all, and it may never be all as much as I will try to update this.
(I am going to try and compile and briefly explain these as much as I can. There may be misinformation. Please inform me if I got something wrong.)
(This will also be updated with additional information and new topics added.)
1) Racist Chinese Dolls.
There are these dolls in China that are being called "Natasha" baby dolls. These dolls are not only very obvious caricatures of black people, but they are being advertised as a "stress relief" in which the people who buy these abuse it in various ways.
This links to a video of a compilation of the various "uses" of the doll. There are more in the replies of the tweet. (Another link to the same tweet just incase)
2) The Mocking, Abuse, and Dehumanization of Black Children.
Apart from the aforementioned doll, there are apparently people going around mocking, abusing, and dehumanizing black children.
Some people have compared black children to the doll.
Others have been going into African countries and have found ways to mock, abuse, and dehumanize black children for clout.
(Source 1 + Full Video) (Source 2)
There are more videos surfacing.
3) Black people are going missing.
Black people, especially children and teens have recently been going missing at an alarming rate. Some of these same people are turning up dead, deaths being ruled as "suicides."
While it generally unknown why many of these people are going missing, many suspect that their disappearances, deaths, and even lack of coverage is rooted in anti-blackness.
The following is a list of black people that have been reported missing as of recently. Please note that this is not a complete list (it may never be completed due to the fact that many of these disappearances will still occur as time passes) this may contain inaccurate information. Please inform me if that is the case.
By the time you see this, some of these people may have already been found either alive or deceased. This post will be updated overtime.
It is also heavily encouraged that you reblog this with more links to recent cases of missing black people if you are aware of any that arenât included on this list.

A viral social media post stating there have been 63 Black children reported missing in Virginia since April 1 underscores a serious issue i
most fantasy books or fics iâve read that contained a desert biome fell back on real world prejudice and misconceptions in place of authentic worldbuilding for a place and people, and it is so telling that the trope seems to repeat itself
things like
the desert as a lifeless wasteland where âlife is crushed underneath the shifting sands and blazing sunâ blah blah blah. deserts are full of life and they are beautiful and people have lived and prospered in them for eons. please read a book
the desert as an ugly or barren terrain where everything is harsh and threatening
the desert as something scary
the inhabitants as backwards religious zealots
the men as overly violent and oppressive
the inhabitants in need of outside instruction/intervention, i.e. âcivilizing the savageâ
the âharemâ and women as exotic, sensual, mysterious
writing tribalism with no knowledge of how tribes actually function
djinn (or for the westerners, genies)
Islam Lite (the aesthetics or spiritual practices appropriated and stripped of meaning)
sprinkling random arabic words for â¨flavorâ¨instead of expanding your worldbuilding to include language as well
clothing as oppressive or mysterious, instead of serving its actual purpose (protecting you from the elements, which should be obvious but i guess it isnât. covering your skin keeps you cooler and safer in most deserts)
people who live in deserts as ignorant, superstitious, uneducated
this isnât worldbuilding, itâs just ignorance and bigotry

Ice cold takes from a Transgender Woman:
Men are not inherently Evil
Everyone has the capacity for evil
Transgender Men are men
Transgender Women are women
Excluding Cisgender Men from your spaces requires Transgender Men to out themselves if they want to engage (Same for Women)
Anyone can be Non-Binary, there is no "look" or requirement
Non-binary masculine presenting people should be welcome in queer spaces, many are just treated as men and predators
Non-binary feminine presenting people should be welcome in queer spaces without being seen as "Woman-Lite"
Edited the wording on the first point because too many terfs keep thinking I'm their friend.
i love creating oc x canon ships i think more people should do them and i think more people should be really, really, really weird about them
