When Serena and Bernie return from Pulses, half their staff are standing around watching a patient.

“What’s going on?” Serena asks.

“A real-life soap opera,” Cam replies. “You see his visitors? One’s his wife, the other one could be a girlfriend. There was shouting and everything.”

“His girlfriend or hers?” Bernie grins.

Serena sighs. “Don’t encourage them.”

“We’re not sure,” Morven replies.

“I’d wager his,” Fletch adds.

Serena has enough. “Get back to work, you lot!”

“Aye, aye, Fräulein.” Bernie salutes. “None of our business anyway.”

Once they’re out of earshot, Morven grins at the others. “You heard the mums …”

I’ve always loved this moment here. Serena’s relationship with Cameron has always been sweet but this is one of my favourites, before they knew each other properly.

Cameron oversteps, talking as if they are close. And Serena, not unkindly mind you, reminds him that they are not friends. Beyond them being at work, not only is Serena his superior, but his mother is too. It’s inappropriate to make such a comment about a colleague. But more than that, Serena is Bernie’s girlfriend. Serena is on Bernie’s side. And she’s not going to let Cam talk shit about the woman she loves or play nice in order to please her girlfriend’s son. It’s unacceptable and that line is drawn clearly. I think it’s the moment that sets the precedent for the rest of their relationship.

Bernie Bounced

Hello and welcome to the wild theory LITERALLY no one asked for. I’m putting it under the cut encase anyone has issues with blood… or the idea of Bernie bouncing. I’m going mad for this one lads. I’m not gonna lie, I’ve had a lot of coffee and literally look like the dude below right now.

Still with me? Cool. Ok. So basically I was doing some research into post explosion Bernie for a fic and I noticed in the opening sequence that there’s a blood coloured smear on the window frame

Hardly anything to go by but I thought… oh… that’s interesting that it looks like it was wiped. As though idk A BODY HAD RUBBED AGAINST IT. Set design wouldn’t have put it there without a reason and literally no one else could have put it there except Bernie herself given the ward was evacuated.

But let’s play devils advocate. Maybe it’s not blood. Maybe it’s just… unfortunately coloured dirt. Ha ha that’s where I’ve got you. Riddle me this, dear reader…is that or is that not blood dripping down the wall

Even Holby city with its car park of death wouldn’t have stuff literally seeping down the walls. It HAS to have been from Bernie/ Bernie’s arm. 

I can’t believe I’m writing this but… here’s my theory on Bernie’s flight path
