I think we all need to remember that Sophie is 15 years old. Possibly 16 by the end of stellarlune, but she's probably 15. For the last three books at least.
She's a teenager and she's going to make choices like a teenager. She's not gonna be an adult because she just isn't one. She's not gonna be completely rational all the time with her emotions. She's not gonna be reasonable all the time with people.
Sure, a lot of the choices and reactions she might be making or having might be unreasonable, but she's FIFTEEN?? I mean, I don't know why you're surprised??
Of course she's gonna feel abandoned by Oralie. That doesn't mean Oralie was in the wrong. It just means that Sophie is reacting the way her teenage brain is telling her to react. To her, she essentially lost two sets of parents and one set of them didn't even want her to know them. No shit they had really good reasons, but Sophie's not gonna be able to understand that while processing all her emotions about it too.
Of course she's gonna start snapping at people and disliking your favorite characters. That doesn't mean those characters did anything wrong. Sophie's just being unreasonably mad because that's what teenage girls will do. That's what just teenagers in general will do.
Of course she's gonna start being a little salty about her ex-boyfriend. That's what teenage girls do. That doesn't mean Fitz is a bad person. I actually think he's a pretty great person. But that's her ex-boyfriend. She probably doesn't wanna be around him most of the time. She has a crush on his best friend, which makes the situation with Fitz worse in her mind.
Of course she's gonna be a little mean to people she doesn't like.
Of course she's gonna talk back to adults.
Of course her thoughts are gonna be a little preoccupied by the person she likes.
Of course she's gonna go out of her way to avoid people she doesn't wanna be around.
She's tired and she's full of hormones.
"Sophie was overreacting at ____" no duh.
"Sophie could've handled ____ so much better" she's a child.
"Sophie burning down that hideout was unnecessary" no shit Sherlock.
Why are we expecting Sophie to make decisions like she's a 25 year old adult? This is a kid with the world's problems on her shoulders. You don't have to like her, but you can't expect her to act like she's not a teenager.
