Our vegetable section was much less successful than our fruit one. We found it much harder to come up with categories that made sense with the variety of vegetables there are.

The re-organized version was much different to our organization which shows that the labeling system we created was hard to understand.

It was very interesting to have a successful one and one that didn't really work because we can understand the differences that make a labelling system work and not work.

For me, I think the fall was how specific the categories were because they relied on prior knowledge of technical terms, terms that people may not know.

For the fruits section of the labeling fruit & vegetable exercise, we were very happy with the results that came up during the test.

We only had two items that were organized into the wrong category which were strawberry and blueberry, which we originally had in the berry category.

We think that our labeling process for fruit was very successful because of this.

IDX Case Sorting Activity

This week we learn how to do an open sorting where we organize the content by ourselves and create a header for similar content. Afterward, we were given the actual header the creator of the website did and from there we learn how to do a close sorting.

Week 8 IA Card Sorting

During Week 8 We learned about the card sorting methods and the effect it has when used correctly. It can be a valuable technique to utilize for gaining insight directly from the users of what should be where, and what should be called what. The labeling system is vital for the users understanding and this method was fantastic in the way we used it for categorizing the list of jobs and job types for our tradespeople app.

At home I got a list of friends and family to go through a selection of jobs and to list them into their groups making sure that they label these groups too. The results I got back were surprising and I would of never of thought to have labeled the job types as such. We ended up with having six different job groups and a number of jobs added to the groups themselves. The job groups we got in our results were; Construction, Outdoors, Indoors, General, Misc, and Cleaning. My partner was happy with the testing of the content inventory.
