My #wife was really feeling #carrotdogs today and I'm not one to try to disappoint her so I upped the ante and made a makeshift grill and grilled some dogs and made some sides to go with it fort a legit #fourthofjuly spread. Hot dog recipe Throw 6-8 carrots in a marinate of 2 cups of water 1 cup soy or liquid aminos 2 T liquid smoke 2 T maple syrup 2 T A1 steak sauce (yes it’s vegan) 2 T ketchup X amount of assorted seasoning Let the water come to a boil and then reduce to low medium heat and cover. Cook for forty minutes. Instead of eating a traditional hot dog this weekend, how about trying a healthier version of one instead?? Introducing .... Carrot Dogs ! 🥕 I get so happy when I find a recipe that mimics the same flavors as another food, but with actual health benefits 🤗 I won't even get into what's actually in a normal hot dog 😵 it may seem odd to you, but just give it a shot🤷🏻‍♀️ don't be afraid to try something new. That's the whole point of being on this healthy road.. you try things that you never thought you would and turn outs you actually like them! I just ate all 4 of these and thought "😬 can't believe I just ate that many" thinking it was unhealthy, then I quickly realized it's just a carrot, so I can eat as many as I want! ☺️ Carrot Dogs 4 large peeled carrots ( buy individually, they're larger than the packaged ones) 4 whole wheat or sprouted hot dog buns 3/4 cup Tamari (soy sauce) 2 Tbsp liquid smoke 2 Tbsp vegan Worcestershire sauce 2 Tbsp maple syrup 2 Tbsp ketchup 2 cups water In a medium saucepan, whisk together liquid ingredients. Add carrots and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium and let simmer until carrots are tender. You don't want to overlook them and make them mushy, you want them a little tender like the consistency of a hot dog. About 8-10 minutes depending on the size. Remove from heat and serve with whatever toppings you want! #carrotdogs #plantbased #easyreplacements #trynewthings #smoothease #cle

(Vegan) Carrot Hotdogs

Servings: 4-6 hotdogs

Ingredients

4-6 Carrots

1/4 cup Soy Sauce

1/4 cup water

1 TB seasoned rice vinegar

1/2 TB apple cider vinegar

1/8 tsp garlic powder

1/8 tsp onion powder

1/4 tsp black pepper

dash liquid smoke

Optional: 1 TB any oil

Steps:

1. Boil carrots for approximately 10 minutes or until fork tender. So the carrots have a little crunch but not crunchy and not mushy.

2. Make the marinade with the ingredients (except the carrots). Put the marinade in a shallow container or ziplock bag. Double zip lock bag if using zip lock bags.

3. After the carrots are done put them in the marinade and let them cool down, then place in the refrigerator. Let the carrots marinate for at least 12 hours. The longer the better.

4. Fry them up using the water fry method or with 1 tsp of oil in a pan.

Definitely not a hot dog but it imitates a hot dog. With any sauce and buns they make you think you are eating a light hot dog. Bbq sauce changes the whole flavor of the dog and makes you think you are at a backyard bbq party while the ketchup and mustard combo makes you think of being young and eating a hot dog for lunch. This is a good healthy alternative to the regular hot dog.
