Abuse of service/retail workers is not okay!

Recently, I got screamed at by two women and told to ‘shut the fuck up’ because I told them their card didn’t go though (thier fault using the payment system tbh. Stupid chip readers) and that they still needed to pay. They later went on to say that I’m a racist and how dare I tell them that they need to pay.

HOW. IS. THIS. ACCEPTABLE. BEHAVIOR. FOR. ANYONE!?

We may be here providing you a service but, that does not mean you can verbally assault and make false accusations.

Has this happened to any of you and how did you handle it?

When a customer tells you to smile

when you’re busy, down 4 cashiers and lines into the isle.

You’re lucky I even had time to say ‘hello!’ to you. You had a good 10 minutes in line and THATS what you had to say.

I've been a cashier at my store for a couple of years. There's always been this one coworker who thought he was better than everyone. He will talk shit to his coworkers (myself included) and to costumers. And nothing was ever done. Aside from that, he sexually harasses women (myself included,once again). And nothing was ever done. At this store,there's very much of a "Mean Girls" mentality. It's better to be a "Plastic" than sit with the others. I tolerated him for way longer than I ever should. I finally reached my breaking point when he threw something at the back of my head and got into an argument with me on the sales floor, that led to me having a panic attack and running off in the floor in tears. My assistant manager said she had had enough of him and that I was not the only one having these problems. She told my store manager and HR. That led to a meeting where I had to tell my story several times and they took notes. After I returned, someone of the management team asked me what had happened. I told them my story. The next day, the person involved had told anyone who would listen. Well,they followed up with me today and told me that I WAS IN THE WRONG FOR TELLING ANYONE AND THAT I MADE HIM UNCOMFORTABLE. I made my harasser uncomfortable. They said that he won't throw anything at me again but I'm wrong for making him uncomfortable. They no longer are investigating my situation. STOP THE PLANET,I want to get off. -T

At my store, if you want time off, You have to request it 2 weeks in advance in the computer system. There’s this one full time cashier (who whines about having to work “all day”) who is always hounding me to take her shifts for one reason or another. Last time, it was that family was coming into town. She ended up showing up to work 4 hours and “thanked” me for taking her 8 hour shift! This time she wanted a friday off for her birthday. If you knew you were doing something on your birthday, why not just go through the proper channels and  ASK for the time off? Instead, you assume I’LL take your shift and when i don’t want to (because who cares about MY plans), You’ll bother me on Facebook. Even have other people do it as well. Does this type of thing happen to anyone else?

What a fucking day at work today!!!

Ok, so today something happened that never happened since I started cashier : not 1, but 2 person came back to my register, telling me they didn't had our their cash back, or enough change... First this lady, which I remembered pretty well cause she made like 3 transactions! So I remembered giving her the cash back, but couldn't prove it, so ask a co-worker who told me I had to call my supervisor in those cases to do a register audit. After counting it out... it showed that I was right... Then this second lady (yep, lady again coincidence???) Told me I didn't have her enough change, and a 20 was missing. What do they think will happen? I will give it to them without proof?!? So, what did I do? I had to call a supervisor again! And guess what? Well, I didnt make a mistake... People just puts me off cause after that, the store was so busy and I had to call another manager for customer service at my register and guess what? The customer I was checking out, cut me off just in the middle of me paging thought the PA system thing, so pretty much everybody in the store heard "i need a manager to............" and for what??? Cause the guy just wanted to catch the fucking bus! Im the kind who shut up and keep it in in front of customer, but I almost yelled at him, I probably said something like "you didn't see that I was busy!?!" Way softer that the way I remember it.... Also I just remembered that a couple found this may on sale for like $3 or $4 with a very beat up sale tag saying "vegetables" on it...... What a day...

The other day I had a customer come in with a coupon for a free tote bag which hasn't started yet, I told her we didn't have the bags yet so there was no way I could give her one. She angrily replied: “But the coupon says it starts September 1st.” I was surprised by this, thinking maybe our shipment was late (since it was already the 3rd or 4th) and looked at her coupon only to find that it clearly said September 11th. I told her that the coupon was for September 11th and she gave me this look like I had somehow changed the date on her coupon to prevent her from getting her tote and then walked off without another word.

There's a lady that comes into my work almost daily and shes one of the more "needy" ones. One item rang up at a time so she can obsessively check the price. She ALWAYS lets her daughter have a doughnuts, and always tells me this.

AND she always makes sure to tell me the PLU for doughnuts, as if i couldn't manage to learn that after YEARS of cashiering and dealing with her telling me everytime
