I like the idea of Cass as Batman.
My biggest hesitation is I feel like somehow it would end up repeating the Jason and Bruce dynamic in someway.
Or there would be similar constraints if that makes any sense?
Cass is way more anal about that no killing rule than Bruce.
What I’m saying that I do not mean Bruce is gonna go murder someone that’s not what I’m saying.
Bruce can work with people who have killed. He can understand the idea that in a situation someone may be forced to take a life.
Cass is extremely set in the belief that any type of murder is a choice. She will never respect someone who has killed.
Cassandra’s ideology is set deeply in trauma, and I respect her ideology for her.
The problem is, if she then were to become Batman that means the operation of Gotham vigilantes is overseen by her. Also the interactions between other vigilantes and heroes usually operating in Justice League Jurisdiction Cassandra would have a say in.
So what is going to happen when it comes to characters like Wonder Woman, Hal Jordan, other characters that might come from a military background? Victims who have killed in self-defense?
Is she going to be able to work with people and understand their choices?
Will she be even more unyielding than Bruce?
But while I’m saying this all, I think my hangup comes from I enjoy thinking of logistics. Majority of comics and fandom are not going to play this narrative.
It would be a very fascinating story to explore, the issues of Cass as Batman.
Usually, whenever I see this line of thinking, Jason is the primary focus, but I kind of think he’s the worst option for this line of questioning.
Jason has always killed pretty willingly and has always had a choice in what he’s doing. He he’s also continuing to do it. In the dynamics, Jason has power. Sure he is kind of answering to Batman, but not really.
He’s older. He’s standing on his own two feet. He has his own money. He has his own resources. Batman could tell the entire hero community to never talk to Red Hood. It doesn’t matter.
Bruce also is only really super anal with the ideology when it comes to Jason because he views Jason’s choices as a reflection of his own and he has a complicated dynamic with Jason.
Bruce gives less of a fuck, what everyone else is doing.
Nevermind Bruce Wayne has slept with people who kill. Murder is not actually the hangup that everyone interprets it is for him.
Truthfully, I am saying this without doing a reread of Cass’s comics so this is based off my memory.
I do not think we have instances of Cass understanding why people kill. It seems very cut and dry with her.
If I’m remembering correctly.
So what exactly will that mean for the people of Gotham and other heroes in relation to Cassandra as Batman?
