While it is not necessarily unique for a protagonist to have a “no killing” rule trigun is very unique in the way that it has vash break this self imposed rule and then delve into the aftermath

And- Vash choosing to kill legato (at least in the manga) isn’t treated as this lesson about how his morals are pointless and that killing is necessary, instead it’s treated as a tragedy

Vash mourns the fact that he couldn’t find another way to deal with legato and he mourns himself and the fact that the one thing he was clinging to the one choice he felt he had was taken away

And his friends mourn with him! They are absolutely heartbroken that hes had to do this

Idk i just haven’t seen any other piece of media go about the morality of killing this way

Two things can be true-

Jason’s overall expectation for Bruce to break his no kill rule is an issue.

Jason Todd also the the right to ask/and request his murderer be killed by Bruce.

Because at the end of the day Jason is Bruce’s son and when it comes to dynamics that is a very important detail in this discussion

Sure objectively asking someone to shatter their own morals as proof they care about you is wrong.

However asking your Dad to kill the guy that hurt you isn’t all that fucking crazy.

For all the talk about Batman's no-kill rule and why it has to be a thing and how much it's the proof that it makes superhero stories worse, it's shown quite a lot in canon, both in comics and in cartoons, that Batman's methods do work pretty well. We have Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, Mr Freeze (who's still shoehorned into villain roles sometimes from what I've heard, but everyone tacitly agrees this is dumb), and I guess Catwoman is still doing her own thing and being an annoying wild card at worst.

It's just that both writers and readers straight-up forget about all those successful examples and focus so much on the Joker, the one villain who seems to be doing villain things with the very specific purpose of forcing Batman to break his no-kill rule.

So, people looking from the outside see this and think "Clearly, no-kill rules are always bad and the entire superhero genre is dumb". Either that, or they get the impression that these stories' underlying message (perhaps even intended by the writers) is actually "Batman is wrong, rehabilitating criminals doesn't work, these comics show why", which in turn lures all the terminally online Armchair Sociologists who then start ranting about the superhero genre inherently being food for fascists.

Earth-11111 is a beautiful place, and Arañana loved her job defending it. When approached by Gwen at her flower shop, she initially agreed to join Spider Society if she could keep putting her work in her world first.

O'Hara vets new hires before sending a recruiter, then interviews them himself. He was 'too busy' with a dimension-hopping Three Face to do this with Sonia.

Some spiders assumed this negligence was how she was allowed in despite her lack of a no-kill rule. Others humored rumors that Miguel just wanted someone willing to kill more often, to give the Society an edge.

Spider-Byte knew why there was no interview. She'd helped O'Hara review Sonia's canon events.. including the death of her [loved one], Miguel.

Damian is the only batfamily member other than Bruce that I fully support never breaking the no kill rule. I will not elaborate.

lowkey wish more superhero media that centers around superheroes with a no-kill rule would embrace the idea of it coming from a place of selfishness. like I don't mean this in the bitter 'batman's selfish for not killing joker because he's then complicit in any future crimes that the joker commits and not the moral guy he thinks he is' way. I mean, if that 'no-kill' rule is the one thing that allows them to get up in the morning and jump from rooftops stopping crime without throwing themselves off said rooftops, then who tf cares if it's a net good on society if batman kills the goddamn joker. if batman killing the joker results in batman killing himself, maybe batman not wanting to kill the joker is something that we can sympathise with. maybe the no-kill rule can be the one time that batman, a man who has given his entire life to making his city a safer place, at the cost of his physical and mental health, at the cost of his personal relationships, at the cost of his sanity, at the cost of god knows what else, prioritises himself.
