Jason Todd and promises PART 1
Scrapbook Memories
Look I try to draw happy scenes but they all inevitably become angsty lol, this is based on the idea that Jason lost some memories after his resurrection.
that’s life!
Unresolved trauma
under the cut is the original one
The dead surround the living
I'm sick to my teeth of people standing on the "Jason didn't listen to Bruce" or "Jason was the angry Robin" business in order to blame Jason for his own murder when the clear cut fact is that kid, that 15 year old kid, just wanted his mom. He was angry. Why wouldn't he be? Babs had been shot without any justice in his eyes. His entire life before Batman was an entire lie. The woman he had loved wasn't his mom. He didn't listen to Bruce? Do you know why? Because he wanted nothing more than a second chance at having a mom. After watching Catherine struggle and die of addiction, after losing her and being unable to save her after caring for her most his life, she was just gone. He just wanted his mom, he wanted a chance to be loved. He was just a kid who wanted his mom. It's not his fault she was a bitch who gave him up to The Joker.
Jason was just a kid who wanted his mom. That's why he died.
Don't think about little Jason Todd, who was curling in his sleep around Catherine, who was passed out, when he could. Don't think about a freshly orphaned Jason Todd, who kept curling in a little ball, trying to warm himself. Definitely don't imagine him doing the same in the Wayne Manor, except this time he curled around pillow or a small Nightwing plush his brother gifted him. And definitely don't imagine Talia searching for little Damian frantically, only to find Jason, curling around a toddler in his restless dreams. And maybe don't imagine Jason continuing to do the same in the solitude of his apartment, despite being all strong and huge.
Just don't.

Angst + Fluff (inspired by this TikTok)
Jason’s life wasn’t all that bad. He cherishes the little moments of happiness he had.
Many people look at Jason and get this overwhelming feeling of sorrow for the boy. They see a boy who was unlucky his entire life.
Someone who grew up poor, lost his mother to drugs, and his father to prison. He had a streak of luck with being adopted, but that did not last long, for his life was taken at an early age.
He hates the way people look at him with that pitiful expression. Just a boy who drew the short end of the stick in life.
That couldn’t be farther from the truth.
Jason’s childhood wasn’t all depressing. There were little moments Jason remembers fondly before his mother became the way she was, before his father ended up behind bars.
He vividly remembered running around and watching cartoons on the TV in the laundromat as his mother washed and folded their clothes.
He remembered his mother scraping together her last few dollars just to take him out for pancakes on his birthday.
