RE: pretty/petty Izuku emerging from the trees to kick villain ass- that’s the overhaul arc even in canon he was straight up obliterating Overhaul and now with the p(r)ettieness??? Izuku would take out the whole Hassaikai by himself
kjhghjkj you’re right yeah. Forest Cryptid emerges to zip through the streets directly to the Hassaikai and then creating a crator through the roof, out of which the men are all spat.
And then Eri is whirled away to a woods before she can even blink, very confused
hi I just wanna say that I love ur blog and I’m glad we’re mutuals <333 ALSO I’ve brought an AU to consider,,, assistant teacher Aizawa aka teachersaid!zawa when he’s getting ready to be a teacher :D whatever thoughts you have are correct but specifically, him ending up at a certain middle school in Musutafu for his certificate,,,
Y O U! THIS IS SO CUTE AND I FEEL THE EXACT SAME???? Whenever I see you in my notifs I'm like 🥺🥺🥺 catlady, my beloved moot, thank u for ur constant support of my shenanigans 💞
AND OKAY I LOVE THAT???????? TEACHERSAID!ZAWA. WHAT A CONCEPT. BRILLIANT.
Can you imagine, if he was placed in that specific middle school, how much different canon would've went???? He'd have some semblance of respect for Deku right off the bat, which would twist things around a bit and I KNOW it would piss Bakugou off to no end. He'd probably be twice as jaded because middle schoolers are a handful, but I also cannot imagine a world in which Aizawa doesn't have a soft spot for kids (especially HIS kids), so there would be so many opportunities for private conversations, for Deku (AND bakugou, let's face it) coming to him for advice, for him to act as their rock for at least a little while when things get nuts. BAKUGOU FEELING CLOSE ENOUGH TO AIZAWA TO BE VULNERABLE WITH HIM AFTER HE WAS KIDNAPPED. All I want in this entire world is to see more of soft!aizawa, and there's just SO MUCH POTENTIAL HERE.
Like, can you IMAGINE a one on one conversation between him and Deku, where he reluctantly admits that he was given shit growing up for being "just as good as quirkless"? And the heart to heart that follows, and Deku breaking down and telling him about All Might's quirk, and how that would go?
And even ASIDE from soft!aizawa, can you imagine the fire in him before he knows about OFA? When he sees All Might letting the boys fight, or when they knowingly put themselves in danger? Of course he'd be that way about ALL of his students, but T H O S E O N E S definitely have the potential to be a sore spot for him and I'd LOVE to see the aftermath of that.
But even BEFOREHAND. The story of how Aizawa went from doubting his decision to teach all the way to realizing it's the perfect occupation for him, just because of the way he was able to understand and shape kids with uncontrollable or terrifying quirks and make them feel human again. I just wanna sit down and write a giant piece about his feelings throughout the whole process, all the introspection that comes along with the process he's going through academically PLUS all the life changes that come along with accepting a second career. Maybe his friends would be super supportive, maybe he'd keep it to himself, but either way--I think it would be so so so fun to explore. Can you imagine Mic being able to talk to him about his OWN experience throughout middle school and how he wished he had a teacher like Aizawa to help him through, and not just because of his quirk?
AAAAHHHHHH what a fun AU to think about!!! Thank you for taking me on this journey!!!
I’m not sure if you’re allowed to talk about it yet (I don’t think it’s posted??) but directors notes for the Izuku+Ochako bang mayhaps? Or any of your fics!! I really don’t care all of your fics are amazing
Okay! I know it’s been forever since you asked me, and I literally had to go digging through my blog to find the post to figure out what I was supposed to be doing, but let’s crack into it!
I started writing Penny for a Big Bang and I had absolutely no idea what I was going to do, but I had been bouncing around the idea of a full on vigilante duo Ochako and Izuku for a while and I just, had to get them to the point where they would become vigilantes instead of heroes. So Izuku couldn’t have One For All and neither of them could pass the hero test. Which is why I decided to show that scene first, the point where I deviated from canon. To me, Izuku would always more to help Ochako, and she would always help him, but without the decimation of the robot, I don’t think he would have had enough, and without her pushing to save him from falling out of the sky, I don’t think she would have had enough either. So that’s the hero problem solved.
Then I had to get them together again, which is why Ochako runs out to save him from the villains Izuku runs into that first night. After that, I needed to get them into vigilantism, but I wanted it to feel natural, I wanted to ease into it. So I had to build their friendship first and I had to show that they both wanted to move toward their goal, they were just gonna decide to come at it sideways. So I built up their friendship as best as I could while also conveying that time was passing, and then I had Izuku decide first and Ochako decide she was ride or die and so then they become vigilantes only they’re not very good at it at first because of course they aren’t so I had to show snippets of them getting better and then they became Astira and Void! Best friends and vigilante duo!
I probably could have kept writing that fic, and I have full intentions of getting back to the world at some point, but I had to stop there for the bang or break myself trying to find the next ending point, lol! The fic had already run away from me for over several thousand words and I knew it would be several thousand more before the next one came around.
Originally the fic was just gonna be from Izuku’s POV because it was the Izuku Big Bang, but I felt like Ochako’s side was important to and I wanted her to be equally involved since it was also her story!
Hope that was interesting to you or gave you some insight into my thought process! Thanks for asking Cat!!! Sorry it was a little late, lol!!! <3
Fanfic Writers: Director Cut
Hi please ramble about how much Nighteye SUCKS (either in HAOT or canon) bc ur rambling is very on point it gives me l i f e (don’t do it if u don’t want to tho)
i’m not gonna rant about “heroics and other things that don’t require superpowers” because that fic is going to contain plenty of ranting a few chapters from now, but i will absolutely go off about canon nighteye.
i fucking hate how canon tries to imply that nighteye is a basically good person who’s been driven to extremes of behavior by his desire to save all might. that’s literally not what’s happening here at all. he has been a toxic influence on all might from the beginning, because he perceives his “love” for all might as giving him a kind of ownership. he believes he has the right to dictate all might’s life to him because nighteye thinks he knows best because of his quirk, and if he knows best then what other people want doesn’t matter.
let’s talk about boundaries.
a boundary is a rule that a person sets in place to maintain their comfort. it could be “i don’t work weekends” or “i don’t have sex when i’m drunk” or even “i don’t like to be touched.” all might has set multiple boundaries with nighteye, and nighteye had disrespected every single one. the most egregious form of boundary violation is violation of bodily autonomy, ie. rape, institutionalization, forced medical procedures, etc. however, violations of any boundary are serious business, and nighteye has crossed both physical and emotional boundaries with all might.
first, all might didn’t want sidekicks. he didn’t think he could trust a sidekick with his secret, so he decided to just not have any. however, he broke this rule to make nighteye his sidekick. that wasn’t his idea. he didn’t see nighteye’s career and go “hm, i think i can make an exception for him.” nighteye came to all might asking to be his sidekick. we don’t know exactly how he went about convincing all might, but we can extrapolate that it wasn’t a snap decision for all might. canon tells us that nighteye was his sidekick for less than a decade, and that was less than a decade ago. all might has been in business for like 40 years. he was well established as the symbol of peace before nighteye came along. he didn’t need nighteye, he had no reason to break his personal rule. nighteye was the one who crossed his boundary to gain entrance into all might’s life.
that’s already super sus but let’s continue.
second, all might didn’t want to tell too many people his secret. whether the decision to tell nighteye about ofa came bundled with the decision to take him on as a sidekick we don’t know, but we know that was another boundary nighteye crossed. again, all might didn’t, like, watch nighteye at the sports festival and decide to tell him. it was nighteye’s efforts that put pressure on all might to tell him the truth.
thirdly, all might didn’t want nighteye to use his quirk on him. we know this for a fact: it’s told to us in a flashback in which all might gets justifiably angry about the betrayal. this is a hard physical boundary that all might set with nighteye, and nighteye violated it to look into his future and see how he would die. that’s treated like a small thing, but it’s not at all! that is a huge violation of trust! nighteye’s quirk involves touching someone! setting aside the metaphysical headfuck nighteye’s future vision seems to be, he touched all might with the intent to violate his wishes! that’s super fucking not ok! and then he uses what he learned to try and manipulate all might into doing what he wanted, retiring directly following his injury at the hands of afo. thankfully all might decided there that nighteye’s actions were too big a breach of trust to keep nighteye in his life, but that was a serious decision made with very good justification.
fourthly, and this is a bit weirder because the boundary is fuzzy but the action is unforgiveable, nighteye disregards all might’s choice of successor and tries to undermine izuku’s confidence to make him give up one for all to mirio.
holy.
fucking.
shit.
like, i guess you could say that it’s an implied boundary rather than a stated boundary, but all might giving izuku his quirk (which cannot be taken by force) is a pretty strong declaration of his wishes! all might chose izuku for his successor! that is not something nighteye gets to question! and it’s certainly not a thing he gets to try to circumvent by destroying izuku’s confidence! nighteye’s not stupid, he could tell that this was a huge decision for all might and he did not make it lightly. he knew that izuku was important to all might. but he still attacked izuku. he still took him on as a work study student with the express purpose of undermining his confidence. everything he did and said to izuku was a direct attack on all might’s decision, all might’s right to choose. because nighteye doesn’t think all might deserves the right to choose if he’s going to make choices nighteye doesn’t like.
because that’s the thing isn’t it? all might isn’t a person to nighteye. he’s a thing. a thing that nighteye has decided his has ownership of. he thinks he knows best and so he’s the only one who gets to make decisions. all might is at best a child who doesn’t know what’s good for him, and at worst a doll that has no relevant opinion at all. all might isn’t allowed to have boundaries if nighteye doesn’t like them. he isn’t allowed to make decisions if nighteye doesn’t agree. and nighteye will do anything to gain and maintain the control over all might and his choices that he thinks he deserves.
tl;dr nighteye is toxic as fuck and always has been, thanks for coming to my ted talk.
hi sol!! for prompts,,, consider any of the following: student teacher aizawa,, mic causing an earthquake with his quirk,,, izuku bringing any+all of his friends to meet mamadoriya,,, shouto with his mom,,, ura with hers,, anything really lol (in my defense, you said you wanted ideas lmao)
hi cat! thank you sm for the prompts! i think out of the four that i did only one technically counts as angst... and slight character death. listen. um anyway here!
student teacher aizawa
He is tired.
He’s always tired, but he had a hard time climbing out of bed a couple hours after getting off of patrol for school. Not that he was going to be learning anything.
The idea of babysitting 20 kids while another teacher actually taught, that tired Shouta out even more. He knew it’d be a matter of time before the year was up and he would start teaching young heroes, but middle school kids are exhausting.
It is a requirement for his teaching degree, cause there was no way he was walking into a classroom probably filled with self-sacrificial students and not know what he was doing. That just seems idiotic. So he student teaches for an afternoon class at a middle school as far away from heroics as he could possibly get.
It makes sense in his mind, to just learn how to teach kids before he ends up teaching an entirely new breed of students.
He wasn’t prepared for how loud the classroom would be nor how annoying the teacher he is working under is.
All in all, he should move schools, but its too late so he will make the best out of this while he can.
mic induced earthquake (this is the angstyish one, there is a sight mention of character death) They were prepared in case this were to happen. Or they were supposed to be.
But nobody could prepare for something like this. For something so devastating. For something that Hizashi shouldn’t be seeing. For something that Hizashi should be used to seeing.
He accidentally activates his quirk as he lets out a blood curdling scream when he sees his best friend's lifeless corpse laying face down on the ground.
Nobody is prepared for the destruction caused by the soundwaves shaking the entire ground. For the buildings that are shaken so badly their foundations crumble.
izuku introduces dekusquad to mamadoriya
It surprises Inko when Izuku texts her on Saturday to ask if he can bring his friends over the next day.
So much so she spends the entire day after responding with an excited “Yes!” cleaning up the apartment that has hardly ever seen guests. Sure they had a few of Inko’s friends over a few ties, upon Izuku’s request, but never had Izuku invited over his own friends. Friends that he trusted enough to bring to meet her.
To say that she is filled with anxiety the entire morning, waiting for the small sound of Izuku’s key in the door knob, waiting to hear the sounds of five teens marching their way to the door. Her heart races just a little faster everytime she hears one of her neighbors walking past the door. She feels her phone vibrate against the part of her leg that it lays on and her heart rockets up in speed. She hurries to open it, heart falling back down into her stomach when she sees its just an email from one of her son’s teachers, confirming that he was coming home today.
Her eyes widen when she sees she missed a text from izuku an hour ago saying they were getting food (“Todoroki’s treat, mom. He won’t let you pay him back, either.”) before getting on the train, followed 30 minutes later with a “Hopping on the train, see you soon!” And she hops up from her seat, racing around the place trying to make things seem perfect, not wanting to embarrass Izuku in front of the first friends he wants to bring over.
In the middle of a fifteenth wipe down of the countertops in the kitchen, Inko can hear the sound of Izuku putting his key into the lock and opening the door. She hears the chattering of teenagers messing with each other and can feel the softest smile reach her face.
“In the kitchen, Zuzu!” She shouts, knowing the nickname undoubtedly made her son try to hide a quickie reddening face. Soon enough she witnesses the bright red face walking into the room, the group of friends following closely behind him. Her smile widens even more when she sees just how good his friends are, the brunette gently nudging his side, while the kid with glasses seems to be reprimanding her for teasing him. She watches closely as the one with dual colored hair—she can recognize him as a Todoroki, but she wants to see what he would prefer— starts telling Izuku that he finds the name endearing. The tall smart looking girl seems to just be taking in the place while a frog like girl just stares at Inko.
“Hi there.” She starts, her smile wide and welcoming, warmth spreads over the kids' faces and she gestures to the table. “I'm Izuku's mother. You can call me Inko, none of the formalities needed when I can tell you care for my son just as I do.” shouto and rei
Shouto can remember walking through the hospital halls as a little kid, holding tightly onto Fuyumi’s hand, and hoping that his mom wasn’t some scary thing like all of the stories said people who went to these places were. He remembers how he froze outside of her room and when Natsuo tries to pick him up , he remembers how he screamed and refused to go in.
Walking through the same halls as an adult is no less terrifying. He knows that the way that his heart picks up pace is irrational. He knows that the way his hands shake at his sides is a reaction to the same fear as the first time. It doesn’t even matter that this is his 20th visit to the hospital. It doesn’t matter that he knows shes not demented and that she’s not even in here because of her. He knows all of that. But it doesn’t help the fact that he hesitates outside of her room long enough for a nurse to pat his shoulder and tell him it'll get easier. His fists tighten around the bouquet and he sighs heavily before taking a hand away, shaking it out, knocking three light knocks on the door. He feels all of the air escape his lungs the moment he hears the knob turn and he focuses his attention to the place he knows his mom’s head will be.
He feels like he can breathe again when he takes in the sight of his mom’s gentle smile and the excitement he can feel rolling off of her to see him. He feels his own light smile spread to his cheeks and he holds out her favorite flowers out to her before he is tugged into a tight hug with a gentle whisper of “Oh, my Shouto.”
Hi this blog slaps!! I love seeing whatever analysis you have cooked up pop into my feed, and in general it’s just fun to scroll through and read the BNHAnalysis! I didn’t realize that Katsuki considered a Monoma a war criminal before today hshdhd this is glorious
Thank you!
Even if I've been slow getting through the Sports Festival arc, I am glad to be able to see all the little details and nuance that didn't make it into the anime or into people's fics. It's inspired some interesting concepts for me! And for other people, or at least I hope so. (At the least, the discord’s been happy about it.)
And yeah, I cried laughing the first time I scrolled to the bottom of chapter 29 and actually read Monoma's character sheet, like. Oh my GOD Katsuki, you dramatic gremlin. You can't just go around calling people war criminals!
hhh nova ur time travel idea is absolutely superb im love it
THANK YOU i’m right and i know it and tbh i was thinking of this ask in english class because apparently we have to write a short story about heroism????? i wanna see if i can swing this into five pages and if i do end up writing it i’ll post it once it’s graded!!! god i’m so excited
