anyways. i needed some baggy layered shirts for romeo, which soon spiraled into me learning milkshape and tinkering with simpe for three days straight. eventually i emerged with this: the tops from tmbodyhipjersey and tmbodyhiphopbaggy (using meshes courtesy of skell's hipjersey completer) with amaryll's loose sweater underneath! (woo, that was a mouthful.)

So hello, I decided to record my process - how I make gifs. I was tagged by @jkvjimin and @rjshope (and @heybaetae 's video inspired me to record it as well as it's easier for me!) I currently use two computers, because VS doesn't work on my desktop and I can't have PS on my work laptop so... that's the reason for the cut!
I am also nothing pro and probably basic too, I was debating whether to do this or not but I thought if it can help anyone I will show it. But yeah I am not a professional and I always feel bad because I could be better.. but I am working on it.
I am also sorry if my explanation is all over the place, I can never talk about these well in english..... but I am hoping it's somewhat understandable.
Okay let's go step by step.
VAPOURSYNTH
I think I am the only remaining creator (but tell me if I am wrong) who still uses vapoursynth but it's the one I can use and am familiar with. Once I have my new laptop I will learn new ways.
In the video I dragged my video file on the program, and added the timestamps (first number: the start of the exact part of the video I need; second number: the duration - I already knew what I needed so I quickly added it)
Once it opens you will see the video there. I edit the size - I always use 500pxl not 540 for the tiny frame you often see around my gifs. Then I add the other things - with vs you can put denoise filter and finesharp on your gifs (I mostly need it for the denoise one! - I used to use KNLM but for some reason it's not working anymore, so I use BM3D and 6.01 is the setting that works the best for me. The finesharp is 0.8 because it would be too sharp and ugly otherwise!) - I don't do anything else other than setting the gif so everything is in frame that I want and nothing is there that I don't need!
Once I have it I run the codes thru VS (I always save it as MOV file) and the files will be in the output folder - then with my dear flashdrive I transfer it to the desktop!
PHOTOSHOP
I wanna say my photoshop is hungarian so I am sorry if you don't understand something or anything in the video - I will try to name every tool in english (I will fail) - I also don't like to use actions so you won't see me do that, only one time!
Once I am in photoshop I insert my mov file (since vapoursynth showed me the exact frame number (150) I could easily cut it in half (75) with a few not needed frames - u could see I deleted those). I accidentally converted them into frames first before I realized I didn't delete the images I didn't need but honestly it doesn't make much difference (at least to me, but I am a noob).
Once it's a full video timeline I resize the gif (so it's 540pxl but with transparent background!) and I add my sharpening (I show it in the video but I use 500%-0,3, 10%-10 once or twice and I add a plus gaussian blur because the sharp white lights creep me out I don't like it (part of the reason why I never used these methods before).
I only recently started using it, so I am still figuring it all out (any mistakes I do and you notice is because of that!) but I don't overdo it, or try not to because the gif already has a finesharp layer on it from vapoursynth.
So to be honest they would look good with or without the added smart sharpenings but I like to experiment. Most times I don't add it! I did it this time only because I liked how it looks!
Tho I will need to make my gifs a bit bigger so they won't have the tiny white frames due to the sharpening but I always forget to do that (habits die hard and I make them 500pxl wide automatically)
Once this is all done it's coloring time which is the quickest because I use the same psd file for everything - the gif that was already open, everything is on that (two layers of curves, hue/saturation, brightness/constrast, selective color). The only additions I sometimes add (when the gif is dark or too bright!) are color balance (set to raster/rasterize idk ???) and I turn down the opacity until I am satisfied. And sometimes I add exposition too.
And that's basically all - I just play around a little until I don't think my gif looks good.

ive been preparing myself for this since his exit interview after playoffs. if you don’t mind i’m just gonna use this ask as an opportunity to unload😭😭
let’s be clear: spence ASKED for this trade. per russell morgan, holland met with spence’s agent and they both agreed he wanted to be on a team where he was given more opportunities. he was clearly put off by his lack of ice time during critical games in the postseason and what that might signify beyond. anyone would feel this way after they spent several seasons proving they could cut it.
this is sooo fucking stupid and senseless to me purely from a roster building standpoint — spence is a cost controlled young player who has grown well with our core, and always performed well as a bottom pair d (very important, he IS very good at this… all while lugging around some pylon stuck to his left side for his whole NHL career) who is capable of playing up in the lineup when needed (LIKE THIS PAST SEASON). why, when we’re going for “big fish” this summer, are we doing this ….. like explain to me where we are gonna get a guy that fills his role for equivalent pay/cheaper? is there suddenly a surplus of reliable RHD?? 😭 (LETS NOT TALK ABOUT THEM ALLOWING GAVRIKOV TO HIT FREE AGENCY. WE MAY NEED A COMPLETE DCORPS RETOOL)
from another perspective… if jim hiller doesn’t trust spence after a year as head coach and several as assistant coach, he may never get that trust. maybe after those playoffs that bridge was burnt. spence went from 15-17 minutes a night basically the entire year to make up for the absence of the kings top d -> barely 5 minutes and being scratched during playoffs. rotten work from hiller, and cowardly to fall back on “experience” when our youth and depth was our strength going into that series. rode our top 9 forwards to death, played 3 and a half defenders most nights. hiller coached scared that series, plus during (and after) when asked by media if he would change the way he deployed the team, he bullishly stuck to his “no regrets” line. i think all of that and this trade will colour my perception of him forever. idk. holland worked to put spence in a place where he’d get more opportunity.. okay, i’m glad spence is going somewhere on the rise and not like, an AHL team. but the return is indefensible. absolutely wretched. and i’m glad people are rightfully pointing it out.
the 2024-25 season is always going to feel so special to me. all the kids got their shot, we really believed they could make it out of the time loop, and there was so much fun, such a vibrant and close room… jordan spence was such a huge part of that :( <3 i’ll miss him here but i was already leaning positively towards the sens, so i’ll be rooting for him there next year 👍
