Chapter 1026 — Tennōzan: turning point

And things are looking up!

Literally, up, since Onigashima is hovering over the Flower capital. Nice gradual reveal, with the island being more and more in focus with each panel.

And Momo! So similar to Koby back in chapter 1 (although a lot more nimble, I’d wager)!

I really like how Luffy finds the right buttons to push in order to call forth the inner strength of people.

The trust (and exasperation) of his fellow Supernovas is tangible.

You believe in yourself, you crazy rubber boy!

I like the comparison to Kaido and Big Mom clashing from chapter 951 with the splitting of the heavens (the picture above in the picture below).

…and look what that does! I really like the panel layout,with the moonbeam showing both mink leaders.

I really like the shattering of Perospero’s hand and Jack’s belt as a visual sign of their defeat.

And of course Orochi’s not dead.

Things are looking up!

Nice little positive chapter in general. I give it the courage to bite an emperor.

it’s almost certainly a coincidence but i absolutely love that the way big mom asks kaidou “what kind of idiot would come to get killed?” is phrased very very similarly to brook’s “what kind of idiot would include death in his plans?” to her at whole cake island.

they both say バカがどこにいる?/baka ga doko ni iru (‘what kind/extent of idiot...?’), the only difference is that brook, as always, has his in polite forms.

So in chapter 951 we got the clash I’ve been waiting for, for a while now.

KAIDO VS BIG MOM!!!!!!

This clash was so great that it split the clouds. I highly doubt Luffy will be able to even put a dent into Kaido, even with the help of the citizens and other supernovas.

This clash is on the same scale as the Shanks vs Whitebeard clash. And this wasn’t even a full fight! It makes me wonder how this fight will turn out and if it’s just going to be a one off type of thing. Guess we’ll have to wait for the next chapter.

This is also important because Law knows by now that Luffy would immediately drop everything he’s doing to come rescue Law and Law--someone who’s very well versed in long revenge plans--doesn’t want his own well-being to get in the way of twenty years of their allies working to liberate Wano.
