It’s Time to Choose Again
Dear god, I hope there aren’t actually bullets in that thing, otherwise what was the point of that “dream-like-alternate-universe-for-the-sake-of-character-development”?
…On the other hand, doing this would be strike two with the Queen after the Circus incident, so part of me doubts he’s actually foolish enough to do something like kill her when the Queen specifically requested an audience with the famous Green Witch of Wolfsschlucht.
Although this seems rather extreme, what Ciel is ((hopefully)) doing here is using this tense moment as a scare factor to make Sullivan come to a decision as her final test on whether or not she’s ready to enter the real world now that she’s gotten her first acrimonious taste of it.
More than likely she will continue to encounter people of such a heartless nature who will attempt to use her for their benefit like he said, and sometimes it’ll feel like it can only get worse than this bitter experience. ((I somehow get the vibe he might be subtly referring to Queen Victoria as well, but I’m not sure if he knows her shady true colors like Undertaker does…))
However if she can find the fortitude in her to carry on and grow from her painful experiences, she may be able to find the strength so that no one will ever take advantage of her again; just like him.
But will his actions really be able to summon the courage in her to seize a single thread that will give her the chance to live as she desires? Or will it have repercussions that he will only come to regret in the long run once more?
Here’s hoping these intersecting lives will not make the wrong choice that will cause them to regret their decision later on.
Time for the Phantomhive House to Roll
Seeing the flashy signal that Ciel had decided to use in order to summon his household to move, Bard once again takes the helm of this group as he commands everyone to move forward with the plan that Ciel and Sebastian had prepared prior to their little engagement with Sullivan in her room.
Going to look forward to another badass fight with these guys.
A Collapsing World
Having the truth spelled out for her through the very lips of her own mother, Sullivan’s mind is reeling completely at this “Outside World” that she’d never thought would turn out to be such a living nightmare.
And seeing the man who she’d trusted most in the village appear before her, you can’t really blame her for lashing out at him knowing that everyone she cherished in this small community were nothing but shams using her brain for their own advantage in the world.
And Ciel-bless him in this moment-reprimands the lot of them for what they’ve done to her, particularly the Elder who he looks at disapprovingly for using her own child in a callous way without considering how she’d feel once she learned the truth.
He may not talk about them often, and we only get to see a few backflashes that give evidence of it, but comparing her to the parents and relatives that he knew growing, they were far better than her and loved him from the bottom of their hearts.
And with a quick flare sent into the air, he makes a break for it with Sullivan and gives Sebastian the signal to take care of the rest of them before they can go after the two.
Although I’ve no doubt he’ll be able to handle this, considering the fact that the poison had actually managed to take an effect on him, I can’t help but worry that he may actually encounter a bit of a challenge in this fight; particularly with Sullivan’s mother, who might have overheard the fact that he got poisoned in his attempt to survey the area.
Could his cover have been blown? Would someone among them, if not the Elder, be able to counter his attacks knowing that poison does affect him? And will this give some sort of enlightenment as to why even he had ended crying as though he were recalling something in the subconscious part of his mind?
I’m probably inflating this next battle for more than it actually might be, but you never know.
Capgras Delusions
After seeing little reason to keep the truth from her daughter, the Village Elder continues to explain to her why such a convoluted lie was constructed for her to create this deadly poison in the first place by revealing her identity to everyone.
As a former scientist from an elite team that was assigned a sensitive project to perfect the notorious Mustard Gas of WWI and mass produce it thirteen years ago, she was particularly taken by the man that led the team, and who had managed to find a way to synthesize it so that it could be done.
However due to an unfortunate accident he’d ended up losing his life, while she had become horribly mutilated as a result of the exposure. Although she had ended up losing the love of her life, she was not left without anything as she’d conveniently conceived a child with him before the incident.
((A little too much info there, village elder.))
Unfortunately it wasn’t just her body that was maimed as her discovery of Sullivan’s early development of genius at a young age had suddenly prompt her to believe that the brilliant mind of the man she’d fallen for had returned.
Seeing that gleam in her eye, you definitely can’t help but feel a bit of an uncomfortable reminder of Baron Kelvin, who gave into his mad obsession once he saw Vincent and Ciel.
And of course the Village Elder had given in to her capgras delusions in order to fulfill the project her lover failed to complete in his lifetime, and had pitched the “Green Witch” Project idea to the government so that she could finish it.
By isolating her from the world so that she could concentrate on nothing but creating this final concoction, Sullivan’s whole life was nothing but a twisted fairy tale in which she was like an extravagant tool in a lab.
She sure brings a whole new level to those Child Star Moms who try to live through the success of their child.
An Unexpected Reunion
Having revealed the appalling truth that she was never really helping lives in the end, except to fulfill the corrupt ambitions of those who wished to gain a profit through her brilliant mind, Sullivan is completely at a loss as she begs the village elder to answer her on whether this world of theirs was a lie or not.
Much to her dismay everything that she is witnessing here is the truth, and that Wolfsschlucht was a mere fantasy created so that she would concentrate solely on her forced objective of creating the perfect poison for them.
And the shock-factor only continues for poor Sullivan as the Village Elder reveals herself to actually be her own biological mother.
((Kinda like a Victorian soap opera, ain’t it?))
:CATCH: Crossroad of Broken Souls :XXII:
As everyone continues to pursue the man who has sworn to destroy this world by killing its source, he finally manages to catch up with his quarry who-much to his horror-has led them to the tower that holds the Alice of this timeline.
It’s more than likely he’s told Alice of the present time what it is that the Will of the Abyss has been planning, and was probably working together with her to fulfill a common goal that they share.
However with the two contradictory elements now entering this stage, including Jack Vessalius of this time…
things are definitely going to take a very awkward turn as these inevitable threads of fate weave together again at last.
