if all goes as planned, the end is finally in sight ~

I've been fortunate to not need to ask for financial assistance in nearly seven weeks, and I hope to reach at least a temporary end to my homelessness by November 11-12. This is contingent upon me moving to my sister's condo to help her as she recovers from hip replacement surgery. And I'm praying that it will go well enough that she'll let me stay permanently (in which case I can transfer to a Walmart in her town).

In the meantime, I do need some help staying housed for the next two weeks. Temperatures at night are now in the low 30s - low 40s, and I'd really like to avoid having to sleep in my car. Understanding that most people are pretty tapped out, I'm still going to try to raise $300 ~ and truly, even just a few dollars could help me spend a single night out of the cold!

I don't follow either the Padaleckis or Ackles on social media and only see the posts if brought to tumblrs such as yours. Are there any indications the Ackles are involved in giving back to Austin organizations, social causes, etc. as the Padaleckis or is it strictly involvement through Random Acts? Also do the Austin media profile the Ackles as frequently as the Padaleckis?

Oof, tough ask. LOL!

For your first question, I'm going to share what I can find based on public knowledge, but just know that both the Ackles and Padaleckis may make donations that are not advertised to the public.

I know the Ackles and Padaleckis (no link with a single list for Jared) were involved with a number of charities throughout SPN's run, though it appears that's dropped off for the Ackles after SPN ended. Jared and Gen are consistent supporters of OutYouth in Austin, ProChoice groups, along with Jared's support of To Write Love on Her Arms (with his AKF campaigns), Wounded Warriors, and encouraging his fans to support teachers through #CompleteTheList (possibly not a complete list?).

The Ackles have supported OutYouth in the past, but nothing recent that we've seen. And I guess you could say Danneel's supported other causes like Hurricane Relief and ProChoice, though her visible support for these causes consists of a single IG Post.

When asked recently for Jensen's birthday charity project which charity he wanted to choose, he chose Random Acts, where Danneel is on the board, and he mentioned RA in the recent Crossroads panel.

As for their involvement with Random Acts, both Danneel and Gen were on the board as of 2020 (latest report available), and while the Crossroads panel made it sound like Danneel's has significant involvement in the work they do, unless she's increased her workload in the last couple of years, the latest annual report only shows her and Gen as working 1/2 hour per week. It's been posited that Gen's on the board simply to make sure any donations they make are used appropriately. I don't know if Danneel's purpose is the same.

As to the second question, the press for Jensen and Danneel in the past couple of years has mostly consisted of articles that pull information from IG posts and previous interview quotes. They did a couple of live chats in 2020, one with Jewel, and another with JDM and Hilarie, but officially, the most recent press I can find with both of them was their Architectural Digest feature back in Nov. 2018. If your looking at Austin-specific press, the last I can find is a tour of the brewery back in March of 2018.

I also think the Austin press is enamored with the Padalecki's because Jared brough an entire film production to Austin, supporting the economy and raising visibility. It makes sense the city doesn't profile the Ackles as often as the Padalecki's. (Plus, the Ackles moved to Colorado during the pandemic so I don't think they're really considered Austin-ites.)

Anyway, TLDR: The Padalecki's publicly support multiple charities and are frequently featured by the Austin press. LOL!

outlook dire for June -

At least for now. I've put this off for as long as I could, but as much as I hate resorting to it again, I have to ask for help.

I spent the last of my resources yesterday to pay for a room this week--leaving me with literally $5.60 to my name. I'm rationing my food right now and will likely run out by Wednesday suppertime (which also means no birthday cake tomorrow, let alone even a slice). Trying my best to stay upbeat and not worry about what comes next week. While praying that I can get some sort of advance on my pay (which is complicated by the fact that my State I.D. got lost on the way to a friend's address it was supposed to be forwarded to; Management is not inclined to make an exception for the transaction without it). So, any donations would be greatly appreciated, along with reblogs of this post...and of course, your prayers.

I'm facing a very difficult February...

Due to the reduced work hours I've been experiencing since the beginning of January, I'm looking at a very rough financial situation in the month ahead. I haven't been able to get a second job because first, post-Christmas no one around here is hiring, and second, I'd have to reduce my availability at Walmart, which they never look kindly upon and will end up getting my current hours cut further. However, it does look like I'll be getting most of my hours back by the end of February. So I just have to ride this out for a few weeks more.

In the meantime, in order to keep a room and not have to sleep in my car, I have to try to raise some funds again. I hate having to do this; I'm both exhausted and incredibly ashamed of having to beg this way. While also realizing it's gotten nearly impossible to raise what I need because everyone has their own financial limits. But in my desperation, I need to try - all the while hoping and praying for a miracle.

I'm housed through Saturday night (Feb. 8) and currently have $13 to my name. My immediate goal is to raise enough to keep lodging from the 9th - 15th, plus have some funds for food & gas (my next payday is the 13th). Beyond this, I hope to raise enough to get me into March.

my financial challenge in April ~

I'm grateful to report that I got through March very well, specifically due to help I received from a couple of very kind Mutuals here on tumblr (thank you again, dear friends!🥰🥰) during the first week of the month. After that, I was fortunate enough to not have to ask for further donations.

However, as I've been expecting, April is going to be tough financially. Though my hours at work have mostly stabilized (still averaging 5-8 hours less per week), Walmart has started to cut hours across the board on hourly associates again due to lower earnings in recent months. In addition, the cost of lodging at the cheapest places in my area has gone up an average of $50/week. Right now, I have $55 to cover food & gasoline through April 10th and I'm housed through the morning of April 6th, but will need to raise $260 in order to keep my room the following week. I realize that it's gotten nearly impossible to these raise funds because so many people have reached their financial limits - so I am keenly aware that I'm asking for a miracle.

Housing update...

As some following this blog might remember, I've been hoping to be able to move in with a relative who has been experiencing serious health issues (severe osteoarthritis in her hip), which would be of help to both of us; I'd be paying rent which she could put towards her mortgage, plus do the cleaning & maintenance on her condo which is now beyond her ability. She's already qualified to go on full disability, but she won't take it yet as she fears the reduction in her income would eat into her retirement savings too quickly. And while I had envisioned that I would be settled in with her by Christmas, she isn't ready to let me move in right now just in case her daughter (whom she subsidizes rent for) decides to move back home. So, I remain homeless in a state whose low-income housing waiting list remains closed.

As a result, I need to raise enough funds...

...to supplement my work income through the end of the year so that I can keep a roof over my head and a warm place to sleep. Nighttime temperatures have fallen into the twenties, so there's no way I can sleep in my car. I hope to raise around $500 for the remainder of 2024, with an immediate need of $175 towards next week's cost.

I know very well that just about everyone is going through financial stress right now (along with the added stress of the holiday season), so I understand that donations will be hard to come by. But in my desperation, I just have to try--while hoping for the best. I am sending out my love and gratitude to anyone who might help with a reblog or donation!

need a bit of help for food & gas ~

Thankfully, I have my room covered through the weekend (August 9-10), but it has left me with only $15 to cover food, gas, and allergy meds (generic benadryl) for the next several days. I'm down to half a loaf of bread & American cheese (for my lunches at work), four pasta cups (microwavable), and a few granola bars. I'd love to get some additional protein (peanut butter, an occasional burger) if at all possible. Even a few dollars would help me through this rough patch.
