Faccio finalmente coming out e dico: mi piace Massimo Campigli, che è un pittore raffinato, ironico ma anche melancolico, dalla vita interessantissima, purtroppo spesso dimenticato dai programmi e ignorato nei musei. In quest'ultimo anno il mio gusto ha preso sfumature davvero inaspettate, fino ai capovolgimenti dal "non mi piace proprio" (Campigli infatti non lo capivo, nonostante il fascino idolatrico dei tanti riferimenti antichi e del peculiare trattamento pittorico) al "vorrei una monografia" (e sapevate che André Chastel ha scritto un libro su Campigli?). Sempre sperando che cambiare sensibilità sia segno di maturazione. Qui sopra Cucitrici (1925) e Belvedere (1930), due opere fantasiose, nel senso che la fantasia è quella dote che, rielaborando a fondo la tradizione, permette di creare un mondo teso fra passato e presente, nostalgia e sarcasmo.
