A little art birthday at home in Mitte! Watching the little faces interacting with the sounds and sights of the magical forest story suitcase was such a joy! The lovely bunch of 2 year olds flew into the story like butterflies wearing birthday crowns,  and squelched as snails across the forest floor,  finished off with a wind-up musical box singing “Happy Birthday.’  Our torchlit magical winged creatures then flew us into a materials LAB, rolling and poking clay sculptures, shaping pipe cleaners, exploring scale with leaves, twigs, fabrics and all things that jingle jangle. ….And the other birthday yesterday afternoon, was a very Happy Badge Making Birthday in Wedding, Berlin! At the home of a 4 year old little artist,  kids took rubbings to create textures, some made and drew funny faces and stamped and cut out robots on their badges and medals. [Part two cntd] This afternoon we looked at the objects on the table whatever caught our eyes,  and ‘put our imaginations on the page’ as my little artist called it,  watching, being inspired by one another and mixing, drawing through watercolour and ink, across both of our 2 pieces of paper.  My favourite little area is the ink blot that I saw a tree in- I have been thinking a lot about RAYS and ROOTS recently as a core to my thinking about creativity, and here popped out a tree spreading its roots- haha well I ain’t no tea-leaf reader but I saw this for me, right there on the paper, and was emotional to tell my daughter, and she smiled. She immediately picked up a pen again to draw onto the area, and it took all of my restraint to not insist it had to stay- her actions, decisions and all! But she just went in and drew a circle around it.
