not sure if this will be the final iteration of the design, but i've been intrigued by the "patch" variety of the chimeragon, and the fact that that design was partially inspired by wolves. i wanted to make something that really exaggerates the lupine aspect, to contrast toothless' predominately feline traits (despite... recent film portrayals.....)
so, here is a potential genetic "ancestor" of the scientifically-created chimeragon: the Dire Fury. a highly intelligent pack hunter that specializes in tracking and bringing down megafauna, these fiends are known for their low, loud howls that enable them to communicate across distances
