Yun Jin:Aether has outdone himself. I get more of a guild feeling rather than a home. No wonder he’s always so sleepy.
Amber:Believe me, I try to get him to sleep. He’s almost as bad as Jean, my boss. Anyways, I see you already have your pins so all you have to do is find an empty room of bunk with anyone who wants to. Any questions.
Shenhe:Yes. What’s with these pins?
She pointed to the one attached to one of her ropes. It’s was blue and in the shape of a popsicle. A glance at Yun Jin was all it took to find her pin on her right collar. It was an orange firework. Even Amber had one on, but it was a golden bow and arrow on her right hip.
Amber:Oh those? The pins are an easy way for everyone to know what captain you’re currently working with. The captains are a select few of us here that organize most things I mentioned earlier. Everyone falls under at least one regularly but there are a few exceptions. Aether says he helps invest in all of equally but……
Shenhe:Some of us are clearly stronger and more invested in than others. I guess it’s impossible not to have favorites even if the person treats everyone kindly.
Yun Jin:I myself am no stranger to a fight, but I can see why that wouldn’t stop someone calling for you before me.
Shenhe:That’s understandable. Not to mention practical. So, who are all these captains?
Amber:Y…You want to know now?
Shenhe:Yes, and what makes them fit the position. If I’m going to work under these people then it would be useful to know. Working with others isn’t particularly my strong suit.
Amber:Hehe, you remind me of a other cryo polearm user I know. Well if you want to know then I’m happy to help! There’s 8 official captains. To start, we have Klee.
Klee:*fish blasting*
Amber:Basic info is 54/127, she’s constellation one, and talents are 6/6/5
Shenhe:That’s not particularly impressive.
Yun Jin:Be nice!
Amber:While you aren’t wrong, her bombs and constant damage has overwhelmed a lot. Nobody does things quite like her. Next in line is Yanfei.
Yanfei:*reading*
Yun Jin: I know her.
Amber: 64/180, she is C6, talents are 8/8/8, and his constantly asking me to swap sets. Yanfei is great. She’s the only captain that regularly choose Aether in her line up. Much like Klee, there’s just…so many explosions. It almost never stops. It’s hard stopping her general because all she typically asks for is a second shielder outside of herself and a healer. That and it’s pretty rare for her to miss.
Shenhe:So she’s relentlessly spreading fire at all times? I can see that being useful. Next?
Amber:That would be your captain, Chongyun.
Chongyun:*meditating*
Shenhe:I will use all my power to achieve his goal.
Yun Jin:Someome certainly is getting into the spirit.
Amber:Chongyun was the first, well… the first everything really. Even before all of this became elaborate or the concept of making captains was a thing, Chongyun lead teams. I’ve been on one. We explore together regularly. 80/151, C6, and talents are 8/11/11
Shenhe:I expect no less from him! I’ll be sure to further his development.
Yun Jin:(Such an attitude shift It’s pretty relieving to know there’s a couple of four stars who’ve risen in the ranks. Who knows, maybe I’ll join them?
Amber:I think you’ll find most of captains you’re already familiar with. For example…
Hu Tao:*twirling Homa* Chongyun, spar with me!
Chongyun:Nope.
Hu Tao:Oh come on! I’ll promise to pull my punches a little. It’s the least I can do for my senior.
Chongyun:I don’t need coddling! *stands up* Prepare yourself!

Yun Jin:Ah, this makes sense.
Shenhe:Are captains rank? You’ve steadily been raising the numbers.
Amber:Well…officially, no. It’s even footing. However, it would be silly to think they all rival each other easily. Chongyun is incredibly strong in my book; the others before him vary on situations at times. The next four I mention though, they’re…intense to say the least. Starting with Hu Tao.
Shenhe:I would hope so or I’ll be asking for Homa right now. Though I suppose that makes anyone appear strong.
Amber: 57/215 and rising. She is C1 because she randomly showed up twice and her talents are 8/8/8. We all just sorta woke up one day she was vastly stronger. She actually recently became a captain. Before that she worked under Chongyun and was given special privilege to make her own team at times. Both Chongyun and Hu Tao actually hold the record for abyss runs. It’s not uncommon that if you see one their teams go in, the other team is going as well. She also holds the record for Maguu Kenki kills.
Yun Jin:It must be weird. One minute you’re under someone then it’s unspoken that they’re higher.
Hu Tao:*winks* Wooo you almost had me there!
Chongyun:*smirks* You are so full of it.
Amber:Well…I’d say there’s still plenty of times Hu Tao is under Chongyun.
Shenhe:!? What do you-
Amber:On to number three!
Shenhe:*squints*
Amber:Like I said before, the top four are so indistinguishable that even though I say number three, it doesn’t mean much. Personally, I think she might be number one.
Yun Jin:It’s Ms.Yoimiya, isn’t it?
Amber:What gave it away?
Yun Jin:When I first arrived I barely said high to Aether before she scooped me up in her arms and ran. She gave me the pin and one of the biggest smiles I’ve ever seen. “From this day forward we’re an unstoppable team!” She said.
Shenhe:Wow. Chongyun was much more relaxed. He tried hiding his joy but he was there for the wishes. “Let’s do our best.” Heh, I could tell he was shaking with excitement.
Amber:There hasn’t been a day Yoimiya wasn’t firing on all cylinders, and she continues to get stronger. 72/150. Her talents, 10/8/6…
Yun Jin:Oh she’s crowned!? That explains a lot.
Amber:Besides Pyro Hypostasis, Yoimiya has beaten every boss with the fastest time. She also has the most team variation, as well as one of them being the strongest team out of any other formation; she even has a less strong but extremely safe version of the team. How do you like working with her?
Yun Jin:I am familiar with every boss.
Amber:I’m sorry.
Yun Jin:It’s not bad. She’s actually very sweet and reassuring. It’s not like I’m the one in any danger, especially when Mr. Zhongli and Ms.Kokomi by my side.
Amber:(How did we let her get away with such a team!? Of course she’s breaking records with them!)

Amber:Meet Ganyu. I don’t have to explain this. It’s Ganyu. One day Aether woke in a cold sweat and decided to give her all the resources he could.
Ganyu:I literally woke up triple my strength. Strange after almost a year of casual support. I used to work under Chongyun.
Shenhe:*squints* In combat?
Ganyu:What else would it be.
Shenhe:…Nothing. I’m a little surprised. I’m sure to disciples of Cloud Retainer would work naturally together, yet I was put with Chongyun.
Ganyu:Oh believe me…I tried so hard.
Amber:Out of the goodness of her heart and a tense meeting, Ganyu thought it would be best to let her old leader gain new strength.
Ganyu:Feel free to ask to train with me and try combos though! No pressure. I wouldn’t mind assistance. I could get stronger.
Amber: 76/233, with a talent level of 10/3/6. There is no one else here with crit damage that high. If you ever walk around and find resource materials on the ground, look around. You’ll probably see Ganyu standing far away.
Everyone:…
Ganyu:*red* It’s faster than walking over there. Xiangling collects and I’m somewhere on a hill…
Shenhe:That’s not adventuring. That a war tactic.
Ganyu:It’s efficient! A pyro unit is up close and I’m supporting from afar. Amber does it!
Amber:As much as I love you grouping me in with you, we both know there’s a vast difference when you snipe vs when I snipe.
Yunjin:So you’re the toughest? As expected from an adepti. No wonder Aether was so involved with your investment.
Ganyu:Huh? Oh I’m the lead. I admire the compliment and won’t deny my development, but if anyone is truly at the top then it’s the one who leads the captain meetings; Madam Keqing.

Shenhe:What’s more invested than you?
Amber:60/229 with her talents at a staggering 9/9/9. I’m not gonna speak poorly of Aether but I’ve never seen him panic more than seeing Qiqi after weeks of nonstop farming. He looked for every chest possible for primos. Like Yoimiya, Keqing arrived with everything she could’ve hoped for. Down to the battle pass.
Shenhe:If he cared that match about her then where’s her cr-
Amber and Ganyu:We don’t talk about that.
Shenhe:O…kay?
Amber:Anyways, that’s everyone. As far as special cases go, don’t get shocked of Eula, Rosaria, or Mona try to get you for whatever reason. They have their own credibility.
Yun Jin:…Seven.
Amber:Hmm?
Shenhe:You named seven captains when you said there’s eight.
Amber:Oh. That’s not important. Don’t worry about it. You’ll rarely see them and your abilities would mesh well. Besides, there’s nothing crazier than Ganyu or Keqing’s effort so going over the other would just be underwhelming.
Ganyu:You think so? I see 30/222, 10/5/10 and three constellations farmed as pure labor of love; captain Amber, first ever to lvl90, get a crown, and the soul reason why every pyro has artifacts in their name. I think being one out of four people who’s special job is to explore each new location is quite the honor.
Yunjin and Shenhe:……
Amber:*blushing*…So hello, I’m captain Amber. I may or may not be the trail blazer and original world explorer; as well as domain wrangler along with Chongyun. I am a sniper and Aether may or may not really care about my development.
