Ranking Call the Midwife character's wedding dresses (update of this post from last year)
11th - Chummy's
Chummy, girl, I love you and I love a non-traditional wedding dress, but what the hell was this the pattern is so bad you could've done better than this. Also you married a cop so you do get a few points knocked off for that
10th - Shelagh's original dress
She looks sad, so does the dress
9th - Violet's
See this is how you do it Chummy and sad Shelagh!!!! We’re into the ‘I like this’ category. I would’ve liked it a lot more if it was slightly shorter and tighter but that wouldn’t have really fit for Violet’s character, or the era.
8th - Barbara's
It’s cute, very Barbara, just a little boring, especially without the cape
7th - Sister Monica Joan and Sister Winifred's
Only one of the dresses in this scene that we actually get a good look at. Although we don’t see it on anyone I wish we did because if we got to see a whole look it would probably be higher
6th - Trixie's
Girl's a fashion icon we knew she was gonna pull it out of the bag. Wasn't a big fan seeing it from the distance at first but when I saw it closer up it grew on me. Love the fabric, love the little hat
5th - Shelagh's actual dress
She looks great, love the lace and that it carries all the way down the dress, showing her shoulders slightly which is very iconic and scandalous of her, no notes
4th - Sister Catherine's
This one's actually gone up a spot and I'm still not even sure why I like it so much?? I really don't think I can explain it I just think she looks really beautiful. I think it's because it's basic enough that I might actually wear it myself but with enough embelishment that it isnt boring? Maybe? Also I love the one big flower
3rd - Lucille's
Marriage may have failed but at least her wedding slayed! Dresses with lace on top and a big plain bottom are very overdone in my opinion but I love the type of lace they used and the big puffy sleeves. This is gonna sound really mean but I promise it’s compliment - it’s edging towards being ugly in a way that I absolutely adore. 10/10, no notes.
2nd - Rosalind's
Absolutely love it, she looks adorable. Actually think the only thing keeping this out of the top spot is all the ickiness around how Lucille was treated in relation to Rosalind and Cyril's marriage
1st - Nancy's
Probably a controversial choice for first place but I don’t care! Like I said, I love non-traditional wedding dresses (when done right) and the 70s is one of my favourite eras fashion wise so this one was made for me
